A Basic Guide To Tab Requests Page

Want to learn a song, but can't find the tab? The tab requests page can help! On this page, you can request tabs for songs that haven't been tabbed before, or different versions of existing tabs.

Where Is The Tab Requests Page?

How Does It Work?

At the top of the tab requests page, you see these lines:

Tabs requested by you (which shows the number of the tabs that you've requested)

Requests honored by you (the number of requests you have "fulfilled", i.e. the number of tabs requested in the tab requests page, which have been submitted by you and added to the Ultimate-Guitar archive)

Requested Tabs

You can view the entire list of requested tabs when you open the tab requests page. If you only want to see the requested tabs from the bands that you've added to your favorite bands list, you should click the "Favorite Bands" tabs.

For more information about how to add a band to your favorites, click here.

By clicking on the "Date" or "Req" links at the top of the list, you can sort the requested tabs by date of the request, or by how many times the request has been voted.

If you're looking for a tab that has been requested before, you can click on the "Vote" next to the tab.

You may also subscribe to a requested tab by clicking on the icon in front of any tab and you'll be informed when the tab gets submitted and added to the UG archive.

How To Request A Tab

At the top of the tab requests page you can see the "Submit your request" link. This link will direct you to the end of the page, where you can see the fields of information about the tab you're going to request, which you need to fill in.

Before placing a request for a tab, please use the search bar to search for existing tabs of the song you're looking for. Since UG is the most complete tab archive on the net, most of the time the tab you want already exists in the UG tab archive.

If there are no existing tabs of the song you want, please have a quick look at the list of the tabs that have been requested before. You may simply click on the "Artist" or "Song" at the top of the requests list and the system will sort the artist or songs by alphabet. Then you can easily find the band or song you want to request, to see if it's been requested before.

If you don't find your request in the UG archive or on the request page, start your Tab Requests by filling in the fields:

Band/Artist (Type the correct name of the band)
Song title (Type the exact name of the song)

For these two parts, our fields are based on an autocomplete-system: if you type part of the band or song name, suggestions for the complete song or band name may drop down from the field, which means we have the tab in archive or it's been requested before and you can find it in requested songs list.

Please avoid requesting songs that have been requested before. Repeated requests are pointless and will be removed from the list by our tab moderators. However, if we have a tab in a request list and you want to request the same tab in a different version (e.g. with an alternate tuning), feel free to request it again.

Type (Tab type you're looking for):

  • Guitar tab (Regular text tab for guitar)
  • Bass tab (Regular text tab for bass)
  • Chords (Chords that have been used in the song)
  • Guitar pro (Tab that has been made by Guitar Pro software, with .gp3, .gp4, .gp5 extensions)
  • Power (Tab that has been made by Powertab software with .ptb extension)
  • Video lesson (Video that helps you to figure out how to play the song)
  • Drum tab (Tab for drum/percussion track of the song)
  • What part?

  • Whole song (Tab for the entire song)
  • Intro (Tab for the opening section of the song)
  • Solo (Tab for a solo section of a song)
  • Album (Tabs containing all the songs on an album by a certain artist/band)
  • Additional notes

You may post any information about the song or even a link to the video of the song. However, please avoid posting an illegal direct links to download the song! You'll be warned or even banned from the site if you break the copyright laws, and your request will be removed from the list.

There's a tick box saying "Notify me by e-mail when the tab is posted on ultimate-guitar.com". If you're a registered user in UG, you'll be informed on the e-mail address you've registered with. If you're a guest and not registered on UG, you should mention your e-mail address in the line below. It is strongly recommended, however, that you to register and log in before you request a tab!

How To Submit A Requested Tab

In the list of requested tabs in tab requests page, you will see a green "Submit" link next to all the requests. If you found a tab for a song on the requested list, or tabbed it out yourself, please submit the tab using this "Submit" link.

This helps users who made the request to find the tab they were looking for, as they'll be notified via their e-mails. Submitting through the Tab Requests page will also increase your UG score and help you to get more feedback about your tab(s).

For more info about how to submit a tab on UG, click here.

Lastly, if you are a registered user and find a bad request such as:

    1. Misspelled song or band name
    2. The exact tab does exist in UG archive
    3. Tab has been requested before
    4. Spam

Go to UG contribution forum and report it there. Our tab moderators will keep the tab requests page neat and organized. So feel free to report any bad request!

    Sincerely, the UG tab team.
