That was a very enjoyable read. I love using the augmented 4th. Sounds brilliant in Steely Dan's 'Kid Charlemagne'.

I prefer using the diminished fifth, sometimes even the tritone =P

Ahah, nice article.

I facepalmed at the devil's interval though...

TJ1991 :
The tritone was used intentionally in West Side Story purely because it was the Devil's Interval. So I don't know what they're getting at there...

It was in the greenhouse room above his garage in his Lake Washington mansion. It wasn't his childhood home, but he did write note that was found beside him to his imaginary friend 'boddah'.

Someone clearly doesn't know much about those "immaculate" genres. The tritone found its home in classical music and jazz long before Black Sabbath and Slayer began making use of it. (In fact, as TJ1991 mentioned, Bernstein used the tritone /everywhere/ in West Side Story simply because it was the Devil's Interval.) The way this is written, it's saying that classical music took the tritone from rock/metal acts.

Interesting article, aside from that tidbit. Would be nice if the article explained more about the extraterrestrial life mentioned at the beginning.

Ok, there are two things wrong with the "Club of 27" thing:

Buddy Holly was 22 when he died, and Otis Redding was 26

Cool article but the mick jagger one would just be most likely the effects of taking to many drugs (or breathing near Keith RIchards)

I just read this at 20am (California.). Beat that. Just messing man.

I didn't know that Corey Taylor had taken pictures during the "Vol. 3" recordings. They should have put something up about the "Rollercoaster Of Love" scream. Try listening to that on Youtube late at night. ; )

He committed suicide in a room above his gargage. He escaped rehab, I think, and then went home. An electrician or gardener saw him dead through the window.

Kurt died the room above his garage in seatle washington. an electrician sent to install a security alarm or something saw someone through the window of said room, found it was Kurt Cobain. The electrician then ventured forth only to find out the Kurt was a zombie. Well the electrician pulled out his trusty shotgun and blew zombie Kurt away, then staged the whole suicide.

They forgot Brain Jones of the Rolling Stones! he was 27 and died around the same time as Morrison, Hendrix, and Joplin.
