Wow.... these lists are terrible. I dont know who most of these people are and what they think they are rating, but it doesnt seem to me like they have any say in innovative albums. When I saw velvet revolver and lamb of god I thought this article may have had some potential in ratings.

I was wrong. I think that ratings from more guitar-developed bands than buckcherry, trapt, or yellowcard would have been much more useful. Talk to Tommy from BTBAM, Anders from in flames, or maybe someone from A7X. Then we might get some interesting choices.

O.... i just read the top, sorry about the criticism, toward the article. I see that the information is not really extensive, but my opinion still stands that the few bits here are not the greatest.

Not a single Era Vulgeris shoutout. I'm supremely dissapointed in these lists. Also, there were no white stripes or even a Mothership mention that I would have accepted (Yes, i realize its only a greatest hits collection).

For those of you complaining so much about this list, first of all, keep in mind that no "favorites" list is going to be perfect. Second, I've noticed that a lot of you who are complaining are only listing metal bands as your favorite albums. Maybe the problem isn't with the list, but with your musical tastes. There is good music out there other than metal. I'm not saying I don't like metal; in fact, I love it. But I like music other than just hard rock or metal. To the guy who said this list had too much mainstream stuff on it and that it needed more metal, there was a lot of indie rock mentioned. Plus, a lot of metal is mainstream. Open your minds people.

Faber Drive has absolutely terrible taste; no wonder their music is shit. God, when I meet them, likely at a shitty restaurant in BC somewhere, I will rant to them on how Nickelback and Avril can't make music AT ALL, and neither can them (Faber Drive).

As for me?

In Rainbows
Somewhere in the Between
and None Shall Pass

Since 2007 had a terrible year for music.

i think this guy's right.
and not all of the people on there are unknown! Ryan Key from Yellowcard is actually pretty cool.
but yeah.

don't diss others if you don't like it, i know we all have opinions but respect otehr people's too, yeah?

Hmmm.....interesting. Not any of what I expcted, other than The Black Parade being on someones list. Mine would go like this (all time)-
1.Placebo - Once More with Feeling. Has every good song by them on it. Even tho its a greatest hits, id say only Meds would stand up to it.
2. Mastodon - Blood Mountain. Awesome album. Something very different than the stereotypical metal album. Tons of harmonies, guitar and vocal, no super-deep screaming for the most part, some actual singing as well, and the best drum tracks i have ever heard. ever. Definately one of the best.
3. Coheed and Cambria - IKSSE:3. Some super-awesome songs. Has 3 songs over seven minutes long. One of the best and longest songs i have ever heard, The Light and the Glass, is just the best way to end the album. Has alot of different moods and sounds on it, from raging serial killer to upbeat, fast, fun-ish song.
4. Nine Black Alps - Everything is. Awesome album, very nice songs. Some say it might signal the return of Grunge, but i doubt it. A very good band, even tho their newer stuff is softer.
5. Paramore - All We Know is Falling. I like this CD, and i think its better than Riot. Great songs, much more raw and much better written than Riot, even for someone as young as Haylie.

Don't get me wrong, I love the new records too, but the science era was definitely a good and heavier Incubus. Tool, well, is Tool. One of the greatest prog-metal bands ever.

The article says of 2007 buddy. Just for fun..... I'll make a list.

1. Colors- BTBAM (no contest)
2. Storm the Gates of Hell- Demon Hunter
3. Threads of Life- Shadows Fall
4. Rise of the Tyrant- Arch Enemy
5. The Alchemy Index- Thrice

There..... I allowed some variety. Its not all gay punk/emo shit or just extreme metal. Theres some alternative, hardcore, metalcoreish stuff, death metal, and hard rock in there, heavy but soft at times. Im sure no one agrees entirely (maybe not at all), but at least i have broadened the list a bit for more than one ****ing genre.

The Light and the Glass is probably one of the best songs ever written, especially the "Your father's dead he passed in his sleep" part and on after.

The people saying that 2007 was a bad year for music must be looking in the wrong places, it was a great year. Well, other than the fact that Hot Cross, I Would Set Myself On Fire For You, and the Blood Brothers all broke up.

6. Jailbreak - Thin Lizzy
7. Rage Against The Machine - RATM
8. IV - Led Zeppelin
9. Kezia - Protest The Hero
10. Take This To Your Grave - Fall Out Boy

But this changes constantly. I can never decide on ten.

Revolver, Physical Graffiti, The 3 other Coheed albums, Manipulator, System of A Down, Fire and Water, 2112, Graceland, Desolation Boulevard, Ten, Vs, Fragile... I could go on, but any of these could easily be on there.

Actually, Dream Theater's Systematic Chaos was easily one of the worst albums this year. It had absolutely zero emotion, and it was only guitar wankery and people showing off how well they can play their instruments.
It's a shame, too. Dream Theater used to be such a great band. It just went downhill after A Change Of Seasons.

I can agree with this guy. I like the disturbed, SlipknoT, shinedown, and seether. im amazed at the fact that nobody on these lists mentioned "The Unthinking Majority" by Serj Tankian. However, "Venus Doom" by HIM, not my favorite album, but they ARE my favorite band. my 5 would be:

1. "The Unthinking Majority" - Serj Tankian
2. "Darklight" - HIM
3. "Vol. 3 Subliminal Verses" - SlipknoT
4. "Stabbing the Drama" - Soilwork
5. tie between "One-X" - Three Days Grace and "The Way of the Fist" - Five Finger Death Punch

and another thing.....Avril Lavigne?

my bad. Serj's is "Elect The Dead". BEST ALBUM EVER.

does anyone else think it is peculiar how pink floyd always seem to come up on the unlikeliest of lists compared to the other bands on them?

My list for 2007 is there somwhere.
Right now, I'd say my favourite albums of all time are:

1. Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory - Dream Theater
2. In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth 3 - Coheed
3. Are You Experienced? - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
4. S.C.I.E.N.C.E - Incubus
5. Machine Head - Deep Purple

You and I share very similar tastes; I love most of everything you mentioned, just minus the Fall Out Boy album, but I can even respect them SOMETIMES.

Haha, yeah I didn't really expect.. anyone to agree on that last one :P
But it's just one of the few albums I can listen to whenever, without having to be in 'the mood'. I'm not afraid to admit how much I like it, aha.
But yeah, as I say, that list changes near enough every day tbf.

Kezia is f**king incredible. Anybody who even dreams of becoming a great player should listen to it. From what I've heard so far Fortress is going to be one of 2008's best albums, hands-down.

I've been watching the BloodMeat video pretty much everyday. It's seriously amazing. Arif is now one of my favourite bassists of all time.
