UG Weekend Riff: Part 21

author: marchoso date: 03/19/2005 category: features
rating: 0 / votes: 0

Introduction:

YesterdayBeatles. It is one of the most covered songs in the history of music. The Beatles were an astonishing band but this was the first time they recorded a song with just one of them working. Paul McCartney was the Beatle to play during the song.

Techniques:

The song carries a great rhythm and is simple enough to learn for the newest guitarists around. You will need to get you finger picking skills set for this song. The intro will now flow through your veins.

I suggest you use your thumb to pluck the low E and of course the big three for the others. It does have a bit of a fast pace so you will need to move your fingers quickly. Easy enough, the song mainly gets lower until it repeats itself. Of course the last verse will differ a tad but it’s easy enough. As long as you can position your fingers correctly and in time, the rhythm and flow is simple enough to follow.

Audio & Tab:

Here is the tab high voltage and I recommend using. Along with the high voltage has provided.

FortunateSon :
The tab is wrong. He uses an arpegio picking with a drone base and a few runs, but most of all he left out the friggin bridge. I'll submit a tab the way I learned it.

D_ral0905 :
It does start with F, but it is supposed to tuned down a step, so it would be like playing a G

the midi doesnt fit this tab,it is the melody of paul's voice.
The tab is partially right, and i would not say its a fast paced one as mentioned before, its an excellent rhythm song to play

The tab is just in the wrong key.
Like he said, most covered song, probably a key that someone else used.

hte tab is NOT in the wrong position, you can even hear on the Anthology thing that hes playing it tuned down a step, but in that position.

johnnybgoode :
no what it is is that for yesterday all strings are tuned down a whole step, the strumming pattern he uses is that he plucks the 3 lower (pitchwise) strings with his thumb while strumming (or picking at the same time) the three higher strings with his pointer, middle, and ring fingers. I'll get the tab out soon.
