I do this with my guitar. It works so well.

I thought somebody would of posted this kind of lesson long time ago. Well it works for me, I used to do this for one hour striaght as well as other excercises.

Very simple yet effective excercises, works well for beginner players of any stringed instrument IMO, especially excercise 1. Good job.

It's like the guitarist equivalent of going to the gym... I WILL do 50 reps today... RARGH!!

Seriously though, I had terrible finger strength and was shown the first exercise by a teacher. Doing it on my cheap acoustic (high action and high tension strings) did wonders for me.

Troy Stetina's book "Speed Method for Lead Guitar" is all I have to say...

"pumping nylon" has the best finger excercises.

I've only been playing guitar for a year and a half, and it took a while to feel anything. I think it might be because my strings are old and worn. I always wait 'till they break to put new ones on. I'm cheap like that.

I wust admit though...it gave my picking hand a good workout.

Wow, I'll play my bass sometimes to this exact thing. I feel so much faster after wards.

you know, i was looking at these things and doing the excersizes o my guitar with out even realizing it was designed for bass. this would be pretty good for a nice quick warmup or work out on either instrument.

i give it a 9, only because its designed for bass, haha

Don't practice these too hard, you could strain your hand. If it HURTS (not burns), stop playing and take a break. You want to develop painless habits, not give yourself tendonitis. Just something to keep in mind

I started playing bass before i got into guitar. I have alawys done something like this on both bass and guitar. It really helps. Also when i do it on guitar i alternate pick down and sweep back up. It sounds good. Also try doing it from 1 to 5 to 8 12 to 15. One and three was alawys the hardest for me. good lesson.
