Ahab and The Meads of Asphodel are indeed awesome, but I'm thrilled to see Hieronymus Bosch on here. Artificial Emotions may be my favorite album ever.

listen to epica. They are a great cross between power/gothic/doom metal and a classical orchestra.

Well, i thought epica was somewhat unknown, and I had heard of Ahab before i read this (though i finally listened, and they are awesome)

good article, but hopefully there will be different styles of metal featured on the next installment instead of sticking to death/black/doom metal.

dead-fish :
The bands featured are selected by the forum members. Not many people are heavy into goth and power stuff, so less material will be probably written about them.
You all are welcome to write your own paragraphs, and submit them in the thread in the metal forum. If you do so, please consult the forum rules before posting, and ask if your band meets the criteria to be featured in this article. This is all to prevent any animosity from the regular members there, as we can be quite pissy.

this seems to delve only into the doom and black metal side of underlooked metal bands but there are so many underlooked bands in other genres like periphery for math metal and the eyes of a traitor and sacred mother tongue for melodic death metal

a lot of articles were submitted, these were randomly drawn. it's not our fault that there are few genres mentioned here.

TEOT are pretty well known, especially in the UK.

So why is the 'metal' all doom or death? There's gotta be more stuff you guys listen to.

Can we exodus_thrash to do one on a thrash metal band? I'm sorry but that would be so damn epic.

They were all randomly drawn out of a hat. These are just random bands that happen to be of a similar genre style.

That you put 'em in a list cause the style is similiar makes sense, but I can asume that there will be other metal subgenres in one of these lists then?

I don't control it but i'm trying to promote a larger variety. Mostly it's the metal forum's tastes that are shown. My input (not in this article) is for a thrash metal band but later i'll submit some folk or power metal bands. Naturally these are going to be for the specific poster's favorite sub-genre but as the idea progresses there will be a larger variety i'm sure.

Though hopefully you will enjoy these bands, I know I do.

The doom/death scene isn't my thing really, I'm all in for thrash though so that'll give me something to look out to.

Here is a metal band that is so far underground they are in japan. Literally! The japanese metal band UnsraW is amazing and deserves more recognition. check some of their songs like: -9-, social faker, and holy sink. on youtube. must of their lyrics are in english, but it's not like you could understand them anyway.

You're calling us narrow minded for writing a review for metal bands?

Also,^^^^^ UnscraW is rather big in Japan methinks.

Yes UnsraW might be big in japan, but they are unheard of in america.
