The Rock Music universe is filled with stellar bands. The ones with creativity flowing from their fingertips and vocal chords. The ones that release hit after hit and become legends. The ones that don't go down without a fight... No matter how much they might need it.
There are many bands like these today. The legendary ones that had started decades previously and had rocked their time period. Fast forward to today and these bands are still touring and releasing new songs.
This is all well and good and some devout fans will not see this as a downside, but people will have noticed that other bands that have carried on much longer than they needed to eventually start to fade.
Bands such as Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones.
Led Zeppelin technically threw in the towel when John Bonham died, but since then they have reunited again and again if only for a short while (Getting grayer and wrinklier every time) but otherwise keeping quiet.
There was a recent article released on Ultimate Guitar which asked the Users to claim where they thought music would be in 2035. One user commented that The Rolling Stones would be celebrating their 25th Annual Farewell Tour.
These bands are legends and I respect each of them immensely despite what I've said about them (even the ones I haven't mentioned - no doubt the comments will start Rolling in reminding me of the Legends that did go out with a bang). I just think that it's better to go out with a bang - some kind of mega-concert - and leave fans with a memory that will stay with them forever instead of carrying on and on and on for decades and then fading.
They deserve more than that.
