This vanity crap shouldn't be posted here. It's all about the self-important author.

Perhaps helps people who want to do their own music video, but otherwise, we should look the other way with this article.

A helpful and informative article, giving a real-life case study of what you might reasonably expect to have to do to get a film score from idea to actual use. If you want to learn about how to do something, you need to learn from someone who has succeeded, not someone who has failed.

I've always had an interest in doing music for film. It's cool to read about the experiences of someone who has done it.

Not even that. With a music video you cut the video to the song, not the song to the video.

Nice to read something a bit different for a change.

The mp3 is also well worth listening to.

Music video is putting film to music, this is about putting music to film and so I will not be "turning the other way".

Good article interesting to see how others are working thanks for the MP3.

Really enjoyed reading this, thank you. Good to learn from your experiences and good to see UG going beyond guitars.

Also... it's not Tom Hess.

The Film was released quite a while ago now and only in the UK.

maybe because they were the ones who knew what they were doing..... great article writing film scores and musicals are harder than typical writing because you have to create an atmosphere, and knowing how to do so makes your regular music ussually better

The reality of commissioned pieces is that you're giving up artistic freedom for money/recognition--the same goes for any kind of commission. I had a friend who designed a holiday card for a company that then changed around 50% of her design, but she can't just go up and say "HEY, YOU CAN'T DO THAT"--they totally can because they're paying her.
