I would put image of the position you're talking about if I were you. I already know them, but I'd never have learn them if I didn't see them. So it's not very useful for beginners who rely on the visual aspect of learning.

I gotta admit I'm in love with the modes system. I didn't find it took too much effort to learn, as long as you spend some time improvising with each new pattern as you learn it. In terms of fretboard freedom, it can't be beat.
