If you're acoustic or semi-acoustic or at low sound levels its fine. If it worked for you then it's good too. The articles are aimed at a fairly typical rock band with electric guitar, bass, drums, vocals and maybe more. When I get onto mic's though I will try to talk about techniques for miking acoustic instruments.

Great article, Phil. You know your stuff.
Any suggestions for good in-ear monitor brands? And is wireless reliable? Thx.

Phil Starr :
Wireless should be no problem if looked after. Sorry though but I haven't any recommendation for brands. try googling Sound on Sound and looking in the forums there.

LostInTheSuperm :
How exactly do you use the Yamaha Stagepas300 as vocal monitors?

Do you run the mics through another main PA mixer, and then send that signal to the Stagepas speakers (with or w/o using the Stagepas mixer?)

Or do you connect the mics directly to the Stagepas mixer and then send that signal to the main PA mixer?

Phil Starr :
We put the mic into the stagepas and then relay it to the mixer which lets us use the echo on the stagepas on that mic only.
