Ok, an amp question. I have been severely considering buying an ENGL, but the purpose of me getting an amp is to start a band. Hopefully death metal. So the question I ask is....

What kind of amp do you think would have a pretty crushing tone, plus good lead tone. I know I can get it with ENGL, but Spynal told me he got a Solid State amp for 500 bucks that gets a kickass tone. (which it does) So anything that'd be cheaper that I could still get this kind of tone?

Consider what do you wanna sound like, also...imo solid states don't have the same kind of, fullness or warmth in the tone, so if you're gonna solo and you want that kinda property to it then valves are the way to go.

It all really depends on what you wanna sound like, and your bank balance.

If a chemist wrote a song about the neutralization of silver nitrate......

I'd be pretty impressed that he got his degree. :D

I have a question, would lowering the action on my guitar be a worthwhile thing to do? My action was set up for a fingerstyle jazz player, and I didn't notice how high it was until I went to guitar center and every electric I played was set up almost uncomfortably low. Would it make a significant difference in my ability to play if I decided to change mine up?

Jazz, and the fusions that branch from it, are usually played by intellegent guitar virtuosos who have a mature and complex outlook on the instrument.

ILoveHarmonics

It's the opposite from floating. So you put a pinky on the guitar while you pick or place your hand on the bridge. You can also anchor by placing your arm on the body of the guitar. The difference between just touching the guitar and anchoring is you make contact in such a way the body part can't move without being lifted. If you don't do it consider yourself lucky.

I'm prolly gonna save for an ENGL Powerball. Which by my calculations would take me about 5-6 months. (If I weren't going to be putting money back into savings, it'd only take about 4.)

I'd really like to have a Savage, but they're about 400 more dollars, which I could put towards the neccessary cabinet. So unless I change my mind throughout these months, I'm sticking with the Powerball, which btw kicks severe amounts of ass.

I had initially had doubts that tube amps would be heavy and aggressive enough for the stuff I like to play, but these clips among others proved me wrong.

I've come to the conclusion that Herman Li quite possibly has the dumbest voice ever.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=f2qY_Rn_qKs

I bet you cant play it because, Im sweep picking and we add some extra notes in the middle, so lets have a mess around with it, slow first, A, A Major, Arpeggio of extra notes HAAAmmmered in, normal A Major would be, and lets add some extra notes in the middle and hammer it in, which is a ma- A Major 7 actually....

I had a moment like that'shred sucks' one the other night at a party. A bunch of classic rock enthusiasts were going on about guitarists- I had no idea that they were classic rock fans when I mentioned steve Vai. The response I received was a arge chorus of people jeering that Steve Vai's music was emotionless wank and that Jimmy Page was much more technically difficult to play! The fact that none of them had ever heard Vai didn't seem to bother them as their opinion was 'obviously' right. Anyway, as I was most of the way through a bottle of JD and had consumed 8 cans of tennents before I went out, I engaged in a pointless 30minute argument where everything I said fell on deaf ears. Well, enough said, better to ignore it and not waste your energy as Paddyo said.

7.343 years.

You must have forgotten to carry the 1 after you multiplied by Pi and divided by the square root of 144, because I came out with 7.845.

I didn't say you're range included operatic vocals. It was a random yet relevant inquiry :) ;)

Yeah, most of those power metal vocalists have insane ranges.

And I'll take ignorant phrase for 400.

Growling isn't in your "range..." because you don't use your voice. Therefor it really shouldn't be included in "vocal ranges."
