Rack effects are (obvoiusly) mounted on a rack. Building your own rack might be a little tough, but for the price id say its worth a shot.

so do you basically buy the rack itself. then buy the individual parts and then wire it so its:
guitar > rack (then wire each separate rack in series) > amp
or do you need an fx loop in your amp?

I think you're suppost to put racks through the effects loop, I'm sure someone could tell you an real educated answer.

It depends on the effect.
Alltogether, rack effects are prettymuch like normal effects, but instead of mounting them on the pedalboard you mount them on a rack.

it also depends on the rack, u can use a bunch or preamps and then run into a rackmounted amp also......so u have an entire rack system instead of just rack fx

stop it, just stop it
racks are just a place to put things - THAT'S IT
before the preamp, after, your cupholder, who cares
it's easy, take the rack unit, put it in the rack, run your guitar into the wah, out of the output into the amp - but things can defenatly get more complicated, just PM me with all your questions - i can CERTAINLY help as I specialize in racks
