I've been looking, and i cant see a thin lizzy thread, so i took the liberty of starting one myself.
It's just that i've been listening to lizzy alot lately, and i dont they get the recognition they deserve. (Although they've put up a statue of Phil Lynott in Dublin).
Anyone wants to talk lizzy, do so here.

Aww yeah Thin Lizzy, one of my favourite bands of all time ever.
Phil Lynott was a genius, great singer, great songwriter, and great performer, just listen to Live and Dangerous to hear for yourself.

Lizzy after Lynott is nowhere near the same, Moore would be the only other person i'd want to do Thin Lizzy vocals, and even then, Lynott would be too sorely missed

It's about time a Thin Lizzy thread came up.

the live version of still in love with you always kills me because of the solos. Honestly I could listen to that **** over and over and it would never get old. Also, does anyone have an opinion on Jon Sykes stint in the band? I hated his vocals but he is a monster guitarist.

I think i show resentment because im a huge Lynott fan, can't say he was particularly exciting for me. Phil Lynott is Thin Lizzy plus i think scott gorham was the best guitarist for Lizzy anyway

yeah I agree except I really love the combination of gorham and Brian Robertson because it really seemed like they always knew how to complement each other perfectly.

It's true. :D
Thin Lizzy are one of my favourite bands of all time, enough said.
Although I'd like to say that Eric Bell is my favourite "Lizzy" guitarist as I love their early work. In fact we're a Thin Lizzy house hold.
However outside of that period my favourite songs are:
Emerald
Jailbreak
Dancing In The Moonlight
Thunder and Lightening
Parisian Walkways
Sarah (The song my cousin was named after) :p:
Waiting For An Alibi
Cold Sweat
I've kept it short though. :)

They used to be my favourite band, then I just stopped listening them. I've started listening them again recently and just remembered how good they actually were! One of my favourite CR bands.

I love Lizzy, (and am actually wearing a Thin Lizzy t-shirt as I type this) but I wouldn't want to see them without Phil. While Midge Ure and Gary Moore did have very good voices, they didn't have the "Lizzy" voice. I find that Phil almost just talks to the audience as much as he actually sings the songs. While my Favorite song would be The Sun Goes Down, I find that Black Rose is probably the most all around solid album. Oh, and Robbo for life.
On the subject of Thin Lizzy, has anyone else here read "The Rocker", the Phil Lynott Biography? They were a mess as a band.

Thin Lizzy should return...but with Lynott's sad death. It won't be as good.
I hope they are remembered in the years to come as a band that broke musical barriors.
I have their greatest Hits and it ROCKS.
I LOVE Emerald.

They did a gig around this time last year. Didn't get tickets to the concert though. I wanted tickets for Christmas but got an acoustic instead.
EDIT:
I love the Jailbreak album and want to get Live and Dangerous next.
IMO it's the greatest live album ever :D Black Rose is amazing also, you might want to get that as well!

They're great, really under-rated and they RAWK! Phil Lynott was a genius and a great singer. I wasn't alive to see them play, but I HAVE seen tribute band Limehouse Lizzy who are also great, probably a lot better than the "Thin Lizzy" who still tour now without Phil.

Scott Gorham is one of the most under-rated guitarists out there. he is amazing. One of my all time favourite guitarists

It's great to see that all these people appreciate lizzy as much as I do. My dad introduced me to them through "Cowboy Song", and over the past couple of years I've accumulated most of their discography. I just love them.

Someone give me a suggestion of what album of theirs to buy first, I've heard a few of their songs, and they're my EXACT type of music.
Cheers!
