Alexi's vocals are meh for me. I guess I don't hate them since I was doing them yesterday but I'm not the biggest fan. Vocals are usually of no importance to me, unless it's high pitched female vocals, which I hate. I doubt Alexi will start doing high pitched female vocals, but who knows? :p:

Ensiferum's 10th anniversary gig, an hour and a half, at the new year party 05/06 was awesome. Too bad it was Petri of Norther doing the vocals/guitar instead of Jari who'd left by then.

Nope, I'm sad to say I think the glory days of Ensiferum are gone. Dragonheads is a solid piece of work, just not exciting or even that original anymore. The next album, though, is about to be released soon I guess.

Going to see Bodom at Tuska Festival here in June! My friend saw them at the supposedly legendary Tuska 2003. I SO wish I'd been there. I did catch them twice last year, at Ankkarock and the Unholy Alliance tour. Too bad Alexi was really hung-over, which he admitted himself, and they played pretty non-excitedly. But their show in Ankkarock is still among my favorite EVAR. :D

Nothing beats hearing the opening double bass drum and riff of Silent Night Bodom Night..

Speaking of the new Wintersun album, I'm hoping for faster songs in the vein of Beyond the Dark Sun and Winter Madness.. And crazy solos as in the latter! I've got kinda bored with the slower songs, although the album was mindblowing the first couple of listens.

And for COB, maybe a slight change from AYDY. I don't really like the nu-metalish or electronic sound of eg. the keyboards that started on HCDR. But I'm sure Alexi won't return to the neo-classical stuff a la Hatebreeder and SW, which I like best.

Although I don't quite get how so many people prefer FTR over the previous albums. To me, and this is partly because I haven't listened to it a lot, the songs don't have that specific, original "identity" and atmosphere as, say, on Hatebreeder. I'm not saying the songs on FTR are alike, they just aren't that memorable.

Oh well, maybe I'll catch up on FTR during Easter holiday. Tomorrow I have like 6 hours of sitting in a car to do, to visit my grandma with some relatives.

The Trooper cover is actually done by Sentenced on a 1993 EP of theirs. It states on the official COB website that they've never covered that song. Great, although somewhat rough cover nonetheless.

as for megadeth..i agree that hangar 18 would soung good done by bodom, but what i've heard so far from them, they wouldn't be a real good choice for CoB to cover. whenever i hear their songs i just feel like there's something missing...like there's always something i'll appreciate about their songs, but i get bored of them quickly.
i think maybe frayed ends of sanity or dyers eve by metallica could go down pretty well, they'd sound good with alexi doing the vox i reckon.

but who cares. i'm pretty confident that they'll make another awesome album, as always

A couple months ago, i was first introduced to CoB. I did not like them. But as my musical preferences changed, i decided to give them another shot. I bought 'Are You Dead Yet?' And i liked it. I actually liked it. Then i bought two more of their albums. Right now, i am a pretty big fan. :D My faves are 'Silent Night, Bodom Night' and 'Are You Dead Yet?' . Great band. Also, very creepy of how their band name originated.

Indeed. The police here actually reopened the case a few years ago and there was this huge trial where the only survivor was accused. He was finally acquitted, but some people still think he did it..

I'm going camping to Lake Bodom this summer with a couple of friends. :D The other one has been having some second thoughts, though.. "What if something happens??" Seriously, it's gonna be awesome.. Blasting Bodom from speakers, drinking beer at a camp fire.. It's only like 20-30 mins from where I live.

Dude the song you're thinkin of is "My Last Words" and yes that would be a badass cover. So would "Wake Up Dead":headbang: That or She-Wolf the way they played it on the rude awakening DVD.
