Alexi's playing cannot be overrated. His music is awesome because it sums of the essence of rock n roll/metal: in your face, counter culture, energy, great technique without going over the top

IMO, the whole thing comes down to live playing personally. I think also it seems that a lot of CoB fans are giddy little school girls when it comes to Alexi/Janne. I hate it when anyone puts anyone on a "God Pedistal" since there will always be someone that can play better/knows more ect ect.

I think that Alexi is good, but his guitar sounds really naggy at times. He plays better than I ever hope to get, but there are plenty of guitarists who play/compose even better.

I was introduced to the backwards. "Are you Dead Yet?" I thought was really stupid because I didn't like his voice and it was hard to get into. "Follow the Reaper" I liked alright I started to get used to the screams and I really liked the melodies they would break into. Then I heard "Hatebreeder" and thought it was the coolest music I had ever heard! Not being a black metal fan and only occasionally enjoying the dorky power metal snythesizers, Hatebreeder was my FAR their best album for me. I'd recommend that for people who aren't very familiar with them. Especially the songs "Towards Dead End" and "Downfall"

Hmmm, didn't know SD had another Active PU out. I've been hearing that the LW's are a LOT better than EMG's, in the fact that they give a more organic active sound.

Haven't had a chance to try 'em out yet :( I've heard Alexi was switching to active pup's, just figured EMG's though.

I doubt that Alexi will switch to an active EMG, because if he was going to why didn't he do it a long time ago before he relesed his signature model with the HZ's?


It seems to me that the blackouts solve alot of the problems that the active EMG's have, the problems that might of stoped Alexi using the active EMG's. I hope these new blackouts live upto the hype, when are they out?
