I don't really care that they're getting big. I wish they got big with Hatebreeder or Follow the Reaper. I'd really like to see a very melodic band get into the mainstream. I think that'd be a huge accomplishment for the metal community. Sure, there will be a lot of people who will argue and say that's when you know everyone is selling out and all that crap, but that's why I want it to be someone who's very melodic and epic.

mainly because it really sounds nothing like old bodom...old bodom reminds me of like...a heavy dragonforce maybe...its got heavy melodic, fast, power metal influence, and the feeling is more epic...are you dead yet was kinda just...it was almost like, to me, cob styled metalcore or something

Are you dead yet was okay, but it sounded too.....metalcore-ish? i don't want to describe it that way since i think song structure and vocal "note choice" is part of that and thankfully CoB didn't put in really gay chorus/breakdown sections, but i guess that's the way to put it.

Just listened to Banned from Heaven. Pretty nice. Very reminiscent of Angels Don't Kill. Even the name reminds me of it. I really enjoyed it, but I'm not going to get all excited about the album still. Lol. I did that with Trashed, Lost and Strungout and was disappointed. Even if I didn't like Banned from Heaven, I'd still give the album a try.

I've been tring to get somephing simular to a bodom tone recently, like the one in this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=f3SogfQF6po) video.

The closest i've got so far on my roland cube is on the rectifier setting (high gain)

Bass: 7
Mid: 4
Treb: 9
Gain: 8

Sounds pretty nice but it could be better so i'll continue experimenting

You really can't get Alexi's tone without his gear...you can come close, but even then you'll need nice, expensive (:() stuff to hit it.

Honestly though, the main thing is mids...loads of 'em. Brighter, treble, basic lead tone really...just his gear makes it sound amazing..

He does/used to. Doesn't have them in the one or so guitars with blackouts, but with the HZ's he did.

The thing with the boost though, is that if you already have an amp that'll take Bodom...you don't need it. You won't be able to notice it.

Since Alexi's amp isn't as high gain as he'd like, the boost actually works to tip it a bit...but on like, a recto or something...nothing will happen.

It feels like Bodom is letting me down...again. I'm not crazy over Blooddrunk or banned from heaven. Both are good, but I dont think either are any better than any song on AYDY. I only just heard Blooddrunk though, maybe I need to let it grow on me.

After second listen, Bloodrunk sounds a little better. I love the outro. Still not impressing me to the degree I hoped it would. I really hope Bodom pulls it off with the other songs on the album.... Really hope. =(

kay, I got Follow The Reaper today, and they're pretty good, I turn it on and I think damn! that awesome, but 30 minutes later I start getting bored and wonder if they can do anything else. Nah man, it's a mainstream rock festival. CoB are awesome, but they don't have the pulling power of a classic band like KISS or a radio-friendly one like The Offspring or Lost Prophets.

In the commercial music stores near me the have AYDY, CRY and HCDR. Once I saw follow the reaper there too, all about £15, but nah there not good for bodom

But there is another music store near me that sells all of the CD's, even tokyo warhearts, plus some japanese versions with bonus tracks and stuff. And at that place there usually cheaper

Wow. That really sucks. The local book store allows you to order CDs. They sell them at the price they would be if they were there, and no shipping cost either. What sucks is when you place an order and the guy forgets to click the "send" button so you never get your CD.
