The Jackson will have a thinner neck (1 piece quartersawn), and the ESP has a meatier one (3 piece). Technically, it's the same instrument, just with a different feel for different tastes. And I hear the Blackouts kick the ass of EMGs :p:

Yes, the ESP does have a cut away, but really, you can easily access the 22nd fret with your index finger. So it's easy to access the 24 with any of your fingers.

It's a passive Jackson Pickup. A lot of Jackson Buffs love those pickups. Hell, there's one on eBay right now. The first day it was put on, the price jumped to $80.

well, some of you may know that Blooddrunk was leaked recently. I got my hands on a couple of the songs (never fear, i'm buying the cd like any loyal fan would).

Suffice to say the ones already released (blooddrunk, tie my rope, banned from heaven) happen to be the MOST like AYDY. The other songs, or at least the 3 or so i got, all are a lot more technical and more old school. Not completely, you wont get any of those awesome melodic sections like the parts on Hate me. they're really a mix of aydy and olds stuff, but they're very good and i wouldn't judge until it comes out.

They REALLY high gain...like, almost too high gain...think EMG on steriods.

They have a more organic tone than EMG's on 9 volt, but I don't know about EMG's w/18volt mod.

A lot of people say they have kind of a fizz to them, some people like it, some don't.

All in all, just don't think it's the ultimate pickup, it might be...it might not be...

I like the new sound, I like the raw edge, but it blends a bit better than AYDY? and it sounds, overall, like Children of Bodom.

Yeah. I thought they kept a lot of AYDY but still incorporated older elements of the band. The only songs I'm not in love with yet are LoBodomy and Roadkill Morning.

I love Tie My Ropes new mix too. Sounds tons better than the last one.

Honestly, it's mainly in the amp.

Check around harmony-central for a bit more info on blackouts, I'm still wondering if I should get them or EMG's or something completely different.

I'd really like to try the blackouts, and will probably end up with them anyway.

I think 18volt EMG's sound really nice, and are great for early bodom stuff.

I'd probably try some blackouts, if you didn't like 'em, trade 'em back for a set of EMG's and then have them put in on 18 volts.

Yea I'm covering everytime I die in college, and it was tight and everything but it didn't sound great, but last week we've got the keyboard parts in and it sounds amazing

I think the synth is what sets them apart from other bands.
Children Of Bodom is one of the best bands out there right now.
Amazing energy in their live show, awesome albums.
Alexi and Roope are a perfect combination, i wish Roope had more solos though.
Janne is the sickest Keyboard player out there, he's even better than his idol (Jens Johannson, IMO). Jaska is an awesome drummer, although he doesn't play the hardest **** ever, he knows how to use his beats in the right places. Henkka is just badass LOL.

And as far as what gives Bodom their distinct sound, I'd be more inclined to say that it's shaped more by Alexi (and Roope)'s guitar style, and overall tone.
