I'm not sure what to expect from the crowds...I guess that there will be those people only there for BTBAM, those only there for TBDM, and those only there for Bodom...I'm actually a bit nervous to try and get close to the stage for Bodom, a lot of people say that there are plenty of asses at their concerts.

Grow up. Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean it's selling out or even bad. It just means it's not the kind of music you like, and we all have different tastes. Bodom have always been slowly progressing into more of a heavy metal band.

In my opinion if you liked HCDR, you'll like Blooddrunk. To me, as I've mentioned in the past and still believe, it's the most like that album.

Banned from Heaven is a good song, if you like Everytime I Die and Angel's Don't Kill. One Day You Will Cry is one of my personal favorites. Hellhounds on My Trail is pretty fast and intense. Tie My Rope is great, I personally love the build up into the orgasmic solo, which is one of my favorite Alexi solos, ever.

They've always been getting progressively more popular. And Alexi's move towards a thrashier sound already started showing heavily on HCDR, and a much larger leap with AYDY.

Bodom haven't been underground for a very long time. They just haven't been that well known in the United States. And it wasn't until AYDY that this changed. Why? Probably just because the thrashier side is something american metal fans are more familiar with than melodic death metal and neoclassical.

But Bodom didn't just suddenly change with AYDY, it's been progressive. So you can't say it was this 180 degree turn around for new fans.

Not to mention Alexi recorded that album not long after breaking three bones in his wrist. Because of that, it took him a while to fully recover. It probably would have been this way anyway, to some degree, but it really put him in the position to cut down on the leads and keep it very rhythm-centric, which is one of the only real differences. If you pay attention to them, the rhythm guitars are amazing.

Janne also simply took less of a lead role and added more to the atmospheric side. There's actually more keyboards there than any other Bodom album. It just wasn't in the same way.

Well, he of course couldn't play at all until it healed. But Alexi has said that at the time, the injury restricted his range of movement for a while afterwards.

I guess as an album the songs all just don't go together so well...
For example, Living Dead Beat is a real key-board heavy song, which goes into Are You Dead Yet? which barely uses any keys and is a lot heavier, and then right after that it's just a shredfest with If You Want Peace...

It's from a CD released in Finland, entitled "Guitar Heroes" and comprises of different songs each composed by different artists just for that album.

Alexi Laiho wrote Sioux City Sarsaparilla for it as well.

I wouldn't confuse their own personal styles with which albums they happen to each be a part of. Besides, Alexi writes the majority of the material, and the direction of the style is dependent most upon him.

Besides, Roope played with Alexi in Sinergy, which wasn't thrashy at all. Stone was, but I'm not saying Roope isn't influenced by that, or that he's really neoclassical. Or the inverse for Alexander. I'm just saying you have to look at each of them outside of the scope of Bodom.

It's probably less to do with what people might think (UK/US sales, radio play, etc) and more to do with the fact that English is the common language amongst most European countries. It may not be their first language, but most everyone knows enough to get by and understand.

That way, no matter where you happen to be from in Europe, everyone will likely be able to follow along somewhat. Not everyone may be able to do that with German, Swedish, Finnish, Italian, etc.

When I heard Alexi tell the story in some interview, he actually was pretty embarrassed. I think it's kind of ironic that this was the injury that made him go, "okay... no more doing stupid ****." He said he realized that things like this couldn't just keep happening because he's been pretty lucky so far, but one more wrong fall or whatever, and he could risk never being able to play again. Or at least not to anywhere near the same capacity.

I really like their live tone since Blooddrunk, since Alexi switched over to the KK2203 JCM800. I'm pretty sure Roope uses it too. It probably replaced their VHT's, but I don't know how much of the rest of their setup they still use, or what (if anything) has changed.
