think at the drive-in (the closest thing i can think of) crosses with synths and samples of ibiza club tunes, really good live band too. making a real big name for themselves as the one of the UK's most popular unsigned acts. 'return to energizer' is the one to listen to.

www.myspace.com/fellsilent

hometown heros in my opinion. a cross between sort of meshuggah and elements of metalcore (im no good at genres at all). incredibe live band. my favourite song would have to be 'silence is the loudest cry for help' (just 'silence' on their myspace though). the twin off chug bit towards the end of the song is just hypnotic live. 'mindless self' would be another good one to listen to. currently hailed as 'the uk's answer to meshuggah' at the moment. also check out the video on their myspace to see what theyre like live, im somewhere in the front row with the beige hat and glasses, i take my hat off and put it back on towards the end of the video (if anyones intrested at all haha).

so any UKer's in here heard any of these bands? there both on tour together, up and down the country quite a bit. anyone seen them live?

take a listen

I've seen Enter Shikari twice. Cant say i like em, but they seem to have a hell of a following.

I think i've seen Fell Silent, but i'm not too sure.

Yeah, used to listen to Enter Shikari quite a lot in '04 through a recommendation from someone, but got bored before they managed to release anything.

I've seen and heard Enter Shikari, can't say they impressed me terribly but they weren't a bad band by any stretch of the imagination if that makes any sense.

Can't say i've heard Fell Silent and the name doesn't ring any bells but then again living in deepest, darkest Wales that isn't really a big surprise is it :p:

No, it probably doesn't :P. I Believe Enter Shikari are a bigger band by far, but Fell Silent are on their way there. Although, from what i have heard and seen, i didn't imagine Enter Shikari's popularity to be the size it is. Especially for them to go to Wales. They're bigger than i thought.

I realise I'm totally resurrecting this which might annoy people but they're doing another tour soon. Was about to post a thread but see, I SEARCHED.

I'm quite liking the mix of styles. Somehow, it doesn't work but at the same time, it does. It's intriuging.

enter shikari is popular cause they put on an awesome live show if you dont like them try listening to their songs called "enter shikari" or "mothership", their old stuff is god awful

I will take a listen to those recommendations, but I wasn't impressed from the other songs I've been sent by some of my friends.

Just saw ES live last night in Cardiff. Even if you don't like the tracks, the experience is pretty special. Some tracks are admittedly awful, some are pretty good though. When they get it right, it's very, very interesting.

Has anyone noticed how 'Sorry Youre Not A Winner's main riff sounds a bit like Hiding With Girls used to?

StuartR

What's so special about the live show?

so far i've only heard Mothership by Enter Shikari but i totally dig it :) i like when bands do something a little different, and in the case of Mothership at least, i think it works surprisingly well. i'm gonna check out some more of their stuff.

no. no it doenst work surprisingly well at all. It's awful, just plain awful. They can't sing, their lyrics are horrible, they're by the book in every possible way. Utter utter wank

return to energiser and anything can happen in the next half hour are the best tracks, and labyrinth. i agree that some is utter wank. i dont really like sorry youre not a winner especially.

theyre not teh best band in the world but theyre doing something a little different and i would far rather listen to them than a hell of a lot of other bands.

I don't like ES. It seems to be that most people dislike dance music, but add in crap guitars and drums AND IT'S AMAZING!!!1

(which it's not)

i just got a couple of there songs, i gotta admit i generally dont like dance, but some of there stuff has me hooked, i particular mothership. that song is pretty damn good

StuartR

It's hardly dance, more like cheesy 90 rave synth, scene core bollocks.

Sorry you're not a winner is the only song I've ever heard by enter shikari and its pure crap. From the clapping to the most generic riff I've ever heard I can't stand listening to it for more than 30 seconds.

I do not like Enter Shikari at all.

I saw them live once and thought it was bollocks.

but then I think most stuff that comes out of Herts is a bit naff nowadays.

over time, something has frustrated me about ES - they can never make one wholly good song. i like the intro to 'mothership', and the beginning and breakdown in 'return to energiser', but the rest of the parts of those songs annoy me almost. those are the only 2 tracks i really listen to that much now. occasionally 'ok time for plan b', but i wish they'd take a pretty interesting concept and run with it. the live shows are good, im seeing them again soon, but the cd recordings frustrate me because it could be done so much better.

fell silent are an awesome band, anyone heard of the guitarists side project tesseract? Amazing stuff concentrating on the wacky time signatures and a bit of groove and melody.

Should be ok, i dont like them all that much but its unusual for potential pit action to be happening so close to where I live

Mmmm not a fan of either!!

Enter shikari are maybe good if you see them once. But they are just sooo boring!
And as soon as people started liking them they just pumped up the synths and REALLY overused them. Just because thats what made them "unique".

Fell silent are all really good musicians, and their pretty damn tight live. Buttt they havent made up a song in like 2 years. litrally. aparently they did make up one song but could never play it properly together...
Also i really do think they have all been listening to WAY to much meshuggah. Tbf they are basically a cover band, which is probaly why they havent really hit it that big.
