From what I've heard, there has been two I've heard. One was custom DM's, the other was custom SD's.

Buckethead is weird, what the f**k is wrong with him.
call him whatever you want, he's still a better guitarist than you'll ever be.
Anyway, I heard he was coming out with a new CD in '07. anyone else hear this? I wouldn't mind seeing another solo album, I don't like vocals on top of Bucket's guitar playing.

He comes out with about 3-5 albums at least each year.

Giant Robot (1996, OOP) - This is the NTT album that is considered by many to be the Holy Grail of all Buckethead albums. It is unlikely that it will ever be reissued, because of the difficulty of securing permission for the samples used throughout the album.
Giant Robot II - Official Live Tape (1997)

Compilations
These collections contain material that was previously released on other albums. The following statement is from the FAQ at Bucketheadland.com ( http://www.bucketheadland.com/faq/faq2/FAQ_2_0.html#46 ). I don?t know if this pertains to all of the compilations that Buckethead-related tracks have appeared on, but I?m including it here as a ?caveat emptor?:
Why are some of the Buckethead/Death Cube K/Praxis tracks found on miscellaneous compilations?
The people that own the rights to the Subharmonic/Strata releases have regurgitated some previously released tracks on to new compilations. These should probably be avoided due to dubious quality, and the musicians and artists involved no longer receive any compensation.

From what I've seen from the secret recipe DVD, he lives in a 2-3 room apartment, that's packed full of stuff, posters, mutliple wierd things, huge giant robot replica, etc. He might get lots of money from the Chinese Democracy.

I'm pretty sure it's Brian Carroll, there's a picture of him on the net somewhere that is supposed to be him without a bucket or anything. And the story of the bucket is that the kids who tortured him as a child threw the KFC bucket hat him because he was always with his chickens and they did it as a joke. So he put it on and went to the graveyard and played the best he ever played. Well, that's what it says on his website.

Set Delay effect Repeat Time @ 500ms with the Level/Volume at 80% and Feedback @ 50%

Here's a little treat for everyone. It's a neo-classical piece called, "Count Scapula," Buckethead recorded it with John Edmonds in 1988 when Buckethead was only 16! It does have pretty bad sound quality, but really good for all Buckethead fans. Enjoy. :)

*I've heard* you can get them installed at some guitar shops for around $70 USD. But the best way it to probably install one yourself.

Don't do it this way. What they're doing is just disconnecting the signal going to the output jack to kill the guitar's sound. This is just like unplugging your guitar while the amp's still on. You know that annoying buzz when you do that? Same thing. The guy in the video uses a capacitor (or as the dumbass called it, a "capacitator") so he can do it the wrong way without the noise, but added electronics will change your tone What you need to do is wire the guitar so that when you press the button, you're grounding the guitar out, basically killing it. I found this diagram in the customizing section. It should help. The same principle is going to apply to any body style of guitar, not just a strat.

To put a killswitch where Tom Morello has his, you'll need to remove some wood. Only a channel about 5 mm deep, but where you actually put the killswitch, it should be about 2 or 3 cm deep.

The switch needed is a SPST. A three lugged on-on switch

I've only sadly been to on of his concerts. :( But I'm definitely going again for Spring tour. I'm also going to save up for the Young Buckethead DVD's. I've only heard him talk twice, actually make it five times. The Mtv interview, GuitarOne lesson, on Bootsy's new album, the purple manager thing from Secret recipe, and his Pieces album. I really want to his him in his late teens, and very early twenties. I'm really looking forward to the interview, and the backyard concert.

I heard Secret Recipe was very badly produced and the quality of videos were at best of bootleg quality...
that aside, I highly recommend that everyone dig up all the side projects which Mr. Buckethead has worked in, with people like John Zorn, Bill Laswell - true experimental avant garde music, maniac DJ scratches complimented with Indian tabla rhythm work, throw in some crazy acid laced soundscapes, some dub oriented groove and top it with Buckethead's playing... you have to listen to that kinda music to believe that it exists.

Well all of the videos are home made from Buckethead, and his friends from '89 and up. If you want to know more about the psyche of Buckethead I recommend everyone to get it. The two concerts on the other DVD are pretty good, the Electric Church one has crappy lighting, but the sound is pretty good. It also was when he use to play the intro the beginning of Jowls.

Population overdrive, or Arc of the testimony, or Octave of the holy innocents. Octaves will be under just Buckethead or Buckethead/Hellborg(Shrieve on drums). Arc of the Testimony will be under the band name, "Arcana" which was:
Byard Lancaster (Clarinet (Bass), Alt Sax),
Bill Laswell (Bass, Sound Effects, Ebo, Synthesizer),
Tony Williams (Drums),
Graham Haynes (Cornet),
Buckethead (Guitar),
Pharoah Sanders (Sax Tenor)
Nicky Skopelitis (Guitars)
anyone hear the album cornbugs? that shit is weird. who does the vocals?
Actually, the bands name is "Cornbugs". They don't have any albums named after that themselves. But it consists of Buckethead on guitar, and Chop top on vocals.

Sweet thanks G moose. Ive been playing acoustic for 5 or 6 months and am looking to get into the electric game. I was just wondering what kinda axe I could for 500 or under that would give me some tones like mr. buckethead. I was looking at this one first maybe
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-Les-Paul-Standard-Electric-Guitar?sku=518341
or this one maybe since alil cheaper
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-IJX121Metal-Guitar-Jumpstart-Package?sku=518877
Would I be sweet with either one of these or should I go for something like a strat or something? Sorry for being such a noob, oh what pedal would you buy first if you had to pick only 1. A wah wah or I was thinking maybe a digital delay?
Don't buy a pedal, just put that money towards a better guitar because the 2 you listed are pretty bad. Bucketheads tone is coming from his pickups and amps. So basically get any guitar with a good tone wood and throw some X2N pickups in there and you should be pretty good.

There are great guitars for less than a grand. Try the LTD mh-400, Schecter C1 Hellraiser, Ibanez RG....shit forgot what number but it's about the same price as the others. You'll still have to swap pickups though. Ordering over the internet is kinda risky, nothing major though, their packaged real nice. I ordered from either LA Music or Music123 I can't remember. Shecters have bigger necks than the Ibanez or LTD and many people find that an annoyance when shredding.

He's hybrid picking(Chicken picking), he's picking notes with a pick, and hitting the other notes with the rest of his fingers on his picking his hand. It's used by many to get to a string faster, and sometimes can be an alternative string skipping.(I doubt you would be able to hybrid pick Gilbert string skips, possible but probably harder then actually string skipping it self). In stick pit he does this. You'll hear him start doing it at 1:09.

He uses the aeolian mode a good amount, as well melodic minor by just raising the 6th and 7th tone to the aeolian. And a good amount of his tapping is weird diminished chromatic stuff. His sweep tapping is just augmented chord shapes and then extends the augment shape further by tapping in the extra notes, but he does have so pretty large hands some I'm guessing he might be able to just hammer on the notes with just one hand, but the stretch would be huge and the feat would be pretty impressive, considering it would be like spanning over 12 frets which is huge(duh).

Electric Tears and Colma f'ing rule. Easily my two favorite albums from him. Enter the Chicken is climbing it's way up there as well.
But I love those two albums because they show that this stereotype "all shredzorz do is play teh uberfast!!1!" is just stupid, and wrong.

It might have to do, because out of his albums this is some of his more harder stuff to find, but Travis Dickerson is on keyboards so you can for sure find it on his site. I think Population Override is very underrated album by him, and probably one of his albums that I can say you have to buy this. That and besides his jazz and fusion albums, and maybe a very few other works of his, the whole album is all improv.

Lots of people have told me that he is wearing a glove. But I will admit, he has the biggest hands of any guitar player I have ever seen, proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDs-HoPnRa8
Around 0:41 seconds you'll get to really see how massive his hands are.

:haha That's not his real pinky. It's a glove of some sort I believe. Anyway, I personally own Electric Tears and Enter The Chicken and they're both very different styles. It's hard to recommend an album until we know what kind of music you are looking for. Electric Tears is just chilled out music with nothing but acoustic and electric guitars, whereas Enter The Chicken is more metal/shred based with a couple of lighter songs.

Bunch of songs, and their albums, as well as a description of them. In case you're wondering why has he as such big hands, it more then likely has to do with his height being anywhere form 6'6"-10".

Tempo: Moderately fast
Description: Nice sounding song, dynamically changing a lot.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzVQ0ih6eyw

Album: Was a live only song since 2004, until it was record for Guitar Hero

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pytlmRmxZkA
Album: Colma
Song: Whitewash
Tempo: Slow
Description: Beautiful song. No words can describe it. Studio version is done with an acoustic.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8akmP6Sjv2o
Album: Crime Slunk Scene
Song: Soothsayer
Tempo: Slow
Description: Epic slow ballad-esque song that builds up to the very long solo.

Album: Live
Song: Various songs by him, as well as theme songs to movies and rides.
Tempo: Varying

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsrWHycG7O0

I'm really getting into Buckethead, and I see that hes an amazing player but he's actually kinda sloppy on the album... Other than that, he's awesome in his stage appearance and how he does it all, his style of music is just awesome. YARHG

I know, i've noticed that too, it's wierd how his live performance, playing-wise, is a lot better than his albums.
But does anyone know if there are any tracks leaked or something when Buckethead got together with Shawn Lane? I'm sure they would have been an awesome duo, just wondering if anything surfaced.

dude, i didn't know you like BH. awesome.
he's actually one of my main influences.i love buckethead's music. his older stuff, like giant robot and stuff is really good. i also really like his newer stuff. i want to get the electric tears album, but i can't buy it at any store i've been in, i'll probably end up buying it online. i want to buy the secret recipe dvd, but i've read reviews on it, and some people say it sucks, some say it's awesome. it would be really awesome if i got the chance to meet him. i hate it how everyone thinks buckethead's all repetative and stuff like that. i mean, some of it is, like the stuff on his colma album, but still the songs on that album are amazing, and i've learned every one of them. anyway, if anyone wants to reply about how that secret recipe is or anything, feel free. :cheers:

can you guys suggest good songs? I downloaded "electric tears" and...there's not much of music in it..unless the file was ****ed up..it was kinda like a synthesizer(sp?) or something like that and like the same 2 or 3 notes played once ever 2 minutes..for about 6 minutes...and then the song ended..
ya he trys really hard and you can tell...But the songs just arnt that good on Eletric Tears. Get Kaleidoscope, Colma...I cant think of the other album sorry..
I looked for Peppers Ghost on torrentspy and nothing came up. I did get all 13 "In Search Of The" albums though. Does anyone know if there are names for the tracks because their all just labelled Track 01, 02, 03 etc. So far the albums kickass though. There is one very nice speedy jazz thing which is cool because he doesn't tend to play a lot of jazz, it's usually more blues oriented.

Because Buckethead always wears a bucket on his head and a mask over his face, no one knows his true identity. Not willing to let this stop us, we have compiled a list of people who could possibly be Buckethead:
* Jesus
* The reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix
* Zombie Randy Rhoads
* Satan
* God himself
* a nurran kungfu monk
* pentney
lol....

Population Override is one of his best albums, like top 3.
Has anybody heard the Cobrastrike stuff? I just started listening to it, it's pretty good.

No, they're just numbered and a few have a letter, but no real track names. One of the volumes i got (i think it was volume 11) had a very cool version of 'Jordan', it's not like the GH2 version or the live version. Well the riff's were the same but he put in some kind of cool breakdown killswitch stuff. T'is very cool.

i'm pretty sure he's playing big sur moon on that part. he has his delay up way faster than on the album. you can get tabs for it here, on UG. they have it in power tab and guitar pro formats.
WOAH....
Now I'd never heard of Buckethead until his song "Jordan" popped up in a recent GW issue, but it sounds pretty cool. Could you guys recommend be an album of his? No, you've probably done that elsewhere. I'll search for it. Thats not the point.
ANYWAYS...
Take a look at his pinkie!!!
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y287/ssiscool/bucket-unmasked.jpg
If you guys have seen this picture before, can you tell me if it is altered in any way or if thats his real pinkie span?
it's not a glove and it's not his real pinky. his hand and other fingers are real, but he's wearing a finger extender.

Can you tell me which track itis exactly? I just browsed through vol.11 and couldn't find it.
