I think Buckethead is pretty overrated to be honest to you. I think that because his pure gems (Nottingham Lace, Whitewash) are overshadowed by Guitar Hero *****s who think that Jordan is the best song ever.

Vantage
12-19-2007, 07:33 PM
A whole armada of people bag on him because of his appearance and his boost of popularity with Jordan.

And no, I don't think Big B is overrated. You could ask him to play something complex that would make your face melt and then ask him a nice slow song, he could play both.

young buckethead or secret recipe? I heard some stuff from both of them on youtube and they both look pretty good, but I heard secret recipe wasn't too good about navigation. and what about the sound quality and video quality on both videos? some of the ones on youtube were't too good, like the binge and grab video, and the interworld video from secret recipe. Is it just me who thinks Pepper's Ghost has three parts?

The first section is more rocky, then a melodic section, then finally you have the more experimental odd high pitched noises section.

I've personally been trying to get as much Buckethead as I can. Whenever I get money I buy something off Travis Dickerson's site. The last thing I brought was the Thanatopsis album Anatomize

I'm absolutely loving Pepper's Ghost, I read a review where it was talking about themes, sort of like you mentioned. Also said that the album was more "formed" and that the songs were more structured than some of his other releases. I'd have to agree with that.

His gibson is a custom it has 24 frets, I also read somewhere that the body is bigger than normal and that it wasnt gibson that modified it with the white hardware etc

It isnt another switch, he simply moved the pickup switch from the regular les paul spot and put it near the volume tone knobs.

So after reading 55 pages of this thread, is Buckethead's mask hard or flexible?
I was seeing how I could make a costume like his.

I also read somewhere here that KFC has changed their design on the buckets?
I don't ever go there and was wondering if this was true.
Thanks.

You can buy the masks they are just Michael Myers masks a la Halloween, and if I'm not mistaken they are mildly flexible. Their buckets have changed.

Nope , you're wrong dude.

Myers masks are completely different.
Buckethead uses those blank drama masks.

You can get them on the net for like 2 bucks

Nope Kabuki masks have sharp thin eyes cause they are basicly japanese theathre masks.

to find the correct one , just google:

"Blank drama male mask"

Here's the first picture that comes up if you image search it:

I'm very ashamed to say that because of the rareness and price of Buckethead albums around here, I have downloaded some of his songs. Too Many Humans must be the most beautifuk solos I've heard.

Buckethead is truely a God among men.

Would it be wrong of me to ask if it is possible for anyone to send a Buckethead album to via RapidShare or Megaupload?

I went to HMV today to spend my vouchers and found the album I'd been looking to buy, Crime Slunk Scene, it was £20 but I went for it anyway.

I love the album, it really was worth it. The prices for a lot of his albums are ridiculous and this one seems to be even rarer than the others. I'm aware paying for a download would have been significantly cheaper but I just can't bring myself to pay for MP3 files and I am an obssessive CD collector.

Bansheebot does sound a lot like Peppers' Ghost, but PG was a great album, therefore DtToB is a great album. My personal favs are tracks 1, 2, 4, 12 and 13. It shouldn't suprise anyone, they were both released in 2007, and probably recorded at the same time. If you think back to other albums that were released at around the same time, they sound similar to one another, too. Actually, what the hell am I talking about? Ignore my last statement. Anyway, I'm glad Bansheebot is what it is, because I got it the same day I got Cyborg Slunks and Kevin's Noodle House. I would have been one unhappy camper if Bansheebot sounded like them. I needed SOME music. - sd

While it makes me feel like a bandwagon BH fan (which I definitely am NOT, I own 15 albums and growing), I think his best song is Jordan. I read a conversation he had with the main programmer of Guitar Hero 2, and it quotes Buckethead telling the programmer: "I think this is the best thing I have ever recorded in my entire life." He's talking about Jordan. So even HE thinks it's his best song! That is, if the conversation did in fact take place. Killswitch, single, double, triple, quadruple finger tapping, sweeps, and slap guitar. The friggin' song has it all. - sd

He's done better. If you want to hear him REALLY excel, then listen to 'Padmasana' and 'Animal Behavior' (the latter was with Praxis.)

To the guy above me who enjoys Buckethead's acoustic stuff, he did an all-acoustic album with Jonas Hellborg and Mike Shrieve entitled 'Octave of the Holy Innocents'. It's probably worth getting, although I don't have it (yet.)

Yeah, that pluck word you use is exactly what I was trying to say, but I didn't know the terminology. I figured "slap" was close enough. I actually had that same exact segment of that video in mind when I wrote that post. I knew it wasn't regualr picking, but the video was too fuzzy for me to see any detail in his right hand. I used "slap" to describe it because I knew that people would be able to realize what part of the song I was talking about. I don't know the terminology for all of that stuff yet. Patience, people. - sd

Electric tears is a chilled out album. tons of cool relaxing songs. I put this on at night to chill and relax whenever I'm having trouble sleeping, tis fanstastic also for just relaxing after stressful times. I cannot recommend this enough although it's not what you're looking for.

Monsters & robots is one of my faves. It's probably more what you're looking for as opposed to electric tears and I'd probably recommend this one just as highly. It's an album of cool riffs and amazing guitar work.

Population is kinda like a funky shredding album, like moderated shredding.

Monsters and Robots is probably one of Big B's shred masterpieces, check it out if you want.

Electric Tears is kinda like a more progressive Colma, minus the drums and bass. Lengthier songs as well.

Bucketheadland 2 is kinda like Bucketheadland as well, full of random stuff, I still find it pretty cool though.

Kaleidoscalp has these demented sounds, but the riffs are great though.

2 Notes I'm excited about:

1. I'm most likely going to be at Buckethead's concert on March 18.
2. There's a wonderful new guitar pro tab of Nottingham Lace up.
thank that guy.

tabbing is just a matter of patience and having some software to slow down the track.

one of which i have, the other I lack.

I'm working on increasing the amount of buckethead CD's that I own, so out of:
Kaleidoscalp
Electric Tears
Monsters & Robots
Funnel Weaver
Bucketheadland 2
Population Override

Or some thing else they have on Itunes (I think that's all of it)

Which one would you say is the shreddiest, and which would you say is the best album over all.
I really like Bucketheads earlier stuff, but to my ears, theres nothing better than the stuff he's putting out now.
The albums Pepper's Ghost, The Elephant Man's Alarm Clock, Crime Slunk Scene and Inbred Mountain SLAY all the others, except for the chill/acoustic albums like Colma, Population Override and Electric Tears, which, IMO, are all equal in greatness.

- sd

What the hardest Buckethead song to play?
the one you don't know.

but seriously, it's one of those questions that doesn't have a definitive answer. Some people find some stuff harder than others and seeing as though buckethead has used about every guitar technique known to man over his huge discography I'm sure there are songs that some people would find quite easy whereas someone else would find them almost impossible.

There seems to be quite a bit of new Buckethead stuff coming. Including "From The Coop," which appears to be a similiar sort of thing to "Acoustic Shards."

And he has a new album with Viggo Mortenson, according to Wikipedia. (Although admittedly whoever's added that in seems a bit dim. "Buckethead collaborate with Viggo Mortensen in his new album At All."

Most bands have an album every few years, lol. Does Bucket live in the studio, or something?

^ Nothing gets past you.

And my copy of Bucketheadland Blueprints enrages me. It's a 36 track version of it, whilst Wikipedia states that there's 23 or 57 track versions. It's also barely tagged, so when I got it it said "track one" etc.

I've renamed them to "blueprint one - blue print 36" but that doesn't really help. Obviously I can name some of the songs going by the narration, or them being easily recognisable (a pirates life for me, or the park theme) but I'm very particular about having all my songs nicely tagged.

That's what I get for being illegal I suppose

If this is the only album featuring Buckethead that you've heard, you're missing out, honestly. This album is only okay compared to his stuff like Pepper's Ghost and Crime Slunk Scene. I would also recommend Colma, for a new listener to Buckethead. All three of those albums are must-have instrumental albums.

I've seen Seether before (in a concert headlined by Audioslave). They sounded good, but they weren't very energetic or interesting. They hardly even talked to the crowd and they just stood their and played. Based on that concert, I'd rather see 30 seconds to mars or Audioslave again more than seether, though seether are still cool.

Back on a Buckethead note: So I got Electric Tears yesterday. Its quite relaxed and is a great album. I'll be working on making some guitar pro tabs for it, as the only complete GP tabs I've seen are for the song Electric Tears. Overall, the stuff on the album is pretty easy to tab, but the songs are long, and Buckethead stuff (working on Enter The Chicken stuff too) is my second priority. I work on it when I don't feel like working on The Butcher by Rusty Cooley anymore. If anyone wants to help me tab, or wants one song to get tabbed faster than the rest, let me know.

Last Train's the one that's the repeated riff, with the guide of the theme park talking over the top of it, isn't it?

It sounds really basic, but it's the kind of song that makes you think. Not about anything in particular, but you do think. It's nice.
