Due to the excess of threads revolving around torrent help and invites, I think it will be better and more practical to condense all of them down into one thread. If you need help with torrents, or have invites to sites like OiNK or Demonoid, here's the place.

I do believe there should be some rules regarding this thread, as it's just turned into people asking for invites. Please, DON'T ASK FOR INVITES HERE! If you have invites, announce it here and people in need of invites may contact you. But please, don't ask for invites in this thread.

Second, remember, this is a help thread too. If someone asks for help, give it to them. That kindness and willingness to help may earn you karma points, or possibly an invite to a private torrent tracker.

No, but it is good practice to seed for a while after you have downloaded it. I don't think Demonoid has any rules about keeping a certain ratio though.

You're going to have to rip it from it's original, lossless source. (Like a CD or FLAC file.) To do that, set your ripping bitrate in iTunes (Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Importing) up to your desired size, and rip it from a CD like normal.

You can't convert 128 back up to 192, because most of the information was lost in the conversion from lossless to 128, and converting it back up to a higher quality is impossible.

If you do rip or convert from a lossy source, that's known as a transcode, which is a big no-no on OiNK.

If you really want to get a lot of leechers, rip it to FLAC or V0 using this guide. (http://jiggafellz.isa-geek.net/eac/) It takes a while, but it's worth it. (So I've heard, I've only ever ripped to 320.) Also, I have heard the iTunes isn't the best ripper in the world, and some iTunes ripped music is taken down because it's believed to be a transcode, when it's really just poor quality rip.

Make sure you read the FAQ and rules really carefully there. They're really anal about music.

However, you may want to note that;

This account is under "ratio watch", and these are the conditions of this ratio watch;

"You are on Ratio Watch because your ratio is too low. You have 12 days 20 hours to upload 401.36 MB more (required ratio is 0.15).
While on Ratio Watch, maximum additional download before account is permanently disabled: 9.51 GB"

So, if you accept this account, if you do NOT acquire a ratio of at least 0.15 [Current status: Ratio: 0.079 Uploaded: 441.89 MB Downloaded: 5.49 GB, yes I'm aware of how bad this is, but the torrents I downloaded just never seemed to upload much back] within the 12 days 20 hours, then the account will be disabled.

During the time you are on ratio watch [you'll come off ratio watch once you get the ratio up to 0.15] you can only download 9.51GB more - if you download more than this, then the account will be disabled.

It probably won't be easy to get it back up, so I'm willing to give the account away for nothing, unless someone offers something in return [maybe an invite for another torrent site, preferably one without a minimum ratio. I'm not selfish but my things just don't seem to upload on Oink, my Demonoid ratio is about 0.8] - in which case you'll be the one to get it.

I'll leave this offer open until I go to bed tonight [anywhere from 11PM to 1AM GMT] - the person who offers me the best thing in return will get the account, if not then it will go to the person who asks for it first.


I think that's about all you need to know - if you're fussed by the account user name, it's "Torrent".

Two albums, both ripped in FLAC format, and that would be sorted easily. Do you not have albums you could upload? Or could you not borrow some from a friend or relative? Hell, I've uploaded a good half a dozen of my Dad's albums.

depends on what you want to do with it.
if you don't have any download limits, and you want to watch them on your tv, get the full dvd iso. converting xvid rips to dvd is a pain in the ass..
if you only want to watch it on your pc, go with the rip.

make sure, when downloading a full dvd, that you read the .nfo file (if there is one). open it in notepad, it contains a lot of useful information about the movie.
for example, some of these full dvds are homemade from another release. always make sure that the dvd source is not a TS. it'll be **** quality.

if you havent downloaded at all it would probably cause some sort of infinite thing like division by zero, like if you have 9Gb uploaded and 0 downloaded it would cause it to go weird.

On demonoid on the torrent download page there should be a link in the extra information box that let's you view what files are in the torrent,

To seed stuff you have you have to create a new torrent. If you are using utorrent simply click on the magic wand I believe. When you go onto demonoid and click upload you will be given a unique tracker URL that tells the server where to find your file. Copy and paste that in to the trackers box in utorrent. You can add a single file or a folder. I suggest being nice and putting everything in its own folder.

^Control Panel, then "Create a new invitation code", a new one should show up in the box. You've been keeping a positive ratio I assume so it should be there.

Well you should always leave utorrent on and uploading just so you can get higher ratio, also how long have you been a member of demonoid?

Well for a while I wasn't able to generate any more codes but for the past 2 weeks I've had around a 1.09 ratio and I'm now able to create them again.

I think it's about the amount uploaded, not your ratio or the time you've been a member.


My ratio's never been above 1.0 but I've had invites a few times.

Some sites, like the ones I expect you visit, are free for everyone to use.

Other sites, e.g. Demonoid and Oink only allow members to download their torrents.

But they don't allow just anyone to sign up [otherwise what's the point in having members?] - so you have to be invited by someone who is already a member.

I'm not sure about Oink - but Demonoid do allow for registrations; only like once every month or so though.

There are quite a few seeders, so assuming you have a decent Internet connection yourself then it's likely to be perfectly normal.

Well, I could be wrong, but I think on Demonoid, it's to do with how much you upload.

Just an example, but say - you might get 1 invite for every 2GB of data you upload.

Doesn't have to be your own torrents, could just be from seeding things you download.
