go onto your profile page, go into the control panel, and then the first box should be for invitation codes, press create code and voila

although you may not be elgible. you have to ahve uploaded a certain amount or have been there for a certain length of time before you can create... Then you get one every two weeks

The point of using Daemon tools is so that you don't have to burn the image. Mounting the image basically creates a virtual CD drive so your computer thinks you've inserted the CD. Yeah, they're private sites. They give great speeds and nearly everything you could want in various formats, but you need to be able to keep a good ratio or else you'll be kicked off (i.e. upload as much as you download).

Your modem just gets overloaded with too many connections. Limit your connections at anyone time in your BitTorrent Client settings.

I tried the whole router address thing (192.168.0.1) because that's what it showed in the picture, but it said it was illegal. Ah, that helps. When I am downloading a torrent though, as I am now, it does not download from all of the peers. It says "Downloading from 11 of 27 peers." Why doesn't it download from all 27 of them?

I think uTorrent stores your downloads in a folder inside your user profile. Chances are it was damaged or erased when you rebooted. If that's the case, then you can't do anything, but check it, they might still be there.

On another story, if anyone has a What.CD or Blackcats-games invite, I'll take it :D

You'll be hard pressed to find anybody willing to part with a What.cd invite. Your best bet is to study up on your file knowledge (file types, encoding, etc.) and go into their IRC server where you'll be interviewed and, depending on your results, possibly be given an invite.

To be honest, I wouldn't bother. There are other, easier ways of obtaining your music on the internet.

I hadn't heard of this file type so I googled it and it is an image format like .iso but it is owned but MagicISO. Daemon tools does not support it so you're gonna have to find a program you can access it with. MagicISO would be the obvious option but it is not a free program.

It's a form of data security, a checksum is a value generated based on a file's attributes, this checksum is often supplied along with a scene release so that an end user can verify the contents of the download with the supplied checksum. If the values match up, everything is as it should be. If the values don't match, something has either been tampered with, or it hasn't been packed with the proper files.

You would need some form of an image file. Compressed video formats like .avi will not work unless you use have a program to convert them in the burning process.

yo, i have a bit of a problem.

so i live away from home for college. at the house i live in, i have no problem getting high DL speeds.

I'm here at home for the holidays, and even though i believe i've set up my computer correctly for downloading here, i can't get download speeds higher than 34.3 kb/s. any suggestions?

I'm torrenting 3 files at the moment. I doubt you care what they are.
However the 3rd one which is signifigantly smaller than the other 2 (the sizes are 279 MB, 7.92 GB, and 12.9 MB) Is downloading much slower than the rest. However it has the same number of seeders to peers. Is this slow speed simply due to the much less amounts of seeders, or the torrent itself?

How to join What.CD


1. Getting an invite:

Potential users should never ever look for invites from a third party, namely invite sites. ONLY get invites from members of what.cd or from passing the interview. While this may not stop what happened recently to fellow members, it may prevent you from experiencing the joy of getting in only to be banned almost immediately.


2. The interview:

To join What.CD you have to keep a good upload/download ratio or you will get banned pretty quickly. So only try to join What.CD if you are serious about keeping a good upload/download ratio and just not going to join just to download as much as possible and not upload anything.
To join follow these steps:
First you need to download an IRC client if you haven't already got one. I recommend mIRC an easy to use free IRC client, which is downloadable here www.mirc.com.
When installed and ready to go. You need to join the What.CD IRC server which is irc.what-network.net Port 6667. Once you have connected you got to join the channel #what.cd-invites
DO NOT GO TO ANOTHER CHANNEL AND ASK FOR AN INVITE, YOU WILL BE BANNED FROM THE CHANNEL OR IGNORED
When in the channel read the instructions that are given. Type !queue into the channel and you will be added to the waiting list to be interviewed for an invite. Please be patient waiting in the queue can take up to 4 hours or even longer. This is where you got to be one of them people that really want an invite as you could get an invited to the interview at anytime so you really need to stay at your computer watching to screen.
When you get invited to an interview room you will be asked a few question about yourself, how much you know about music e.g. do you know what a FLAC file is? And you might need to provide and image of your upload/download ratio of other private Bittorrent sites. So before you go to an interview room be sure to have a speedtest.net result ready.
Don't be nervous when answering the questions.
If they accept you and are willing to give you an invite they will ask for your email address and then they will send you an invite. So just go to you inbox and you will see an invite. From there on it is easy street as you just got to sign up and you're in.
Please be aware that they might not give you an invite for many reasons. So don't be too disappointed if you don't get an invite. You can try again, but the interviewers might get tired of you if you show no signs of improvement.

1) Using a proxy/BNC/whatever to hide your IP is NOT allowed. If found you will be banned and not be given a second chance.
2) Read the channel topic and post a www.speedtest.net result. Do NOT fake this one, you will be caught, banned and not given a second chance.
3) Be polite and patient. People asking how long they have to wait repeatedly is not exactly encouraging, neither is ungrateful users. As there is a LOT of users flowing through the channel every day the tolerance is not exactly high.
4) Study up! Don't come to the interview unprepared, you will NOT pass the interview, read the guides mentioned in this thread, it is not hard.
5) Don't cheat! If we find out you're copy/pasting answers or similar you will get banned and not given a second chance.
6) Try again. If you fail the interview yet have shown some proof of knowledge you may try again no sooner than 48 hours from the end of the interview, but for the love of god, DO study. Don't just try again without reading up on the question you failed, you will not be given more chances if you're unwilling to read/improve.
7) If you DO pass the interview, make sure you read all the rules and especially the ratio requirements before you do anything at all. You're only allowed 1 account per user per lifetime, so take good care of it.
Unfortunately some users just can't follow the rules, so we've had to ban several IP-Ranges because of abuse (traders, cheaters, sellers etc.). If your IP is banned there is no way in for you via the invite-channel.

Check the number of seeders. If there aren't that many, you are more likely to have slower speeds. It also depends on your connection's download speed and the upload speeds of the seeders.

I just downloaded bittorrent 6.1.2 from bittorrent.com and every time
i search it doesn't find files on bittorrent, it goes to ask.com (i unchecked the ask.com boxes after download btw).
Just use google or a specific torrent site to search. Also, the best client available is uTorrent, IMO.

hey guys, I had to re-install my whole system on my PC.
I don't have my photoshop, Cinema4d or guitar pro 5.
I used limewire before to get these programs, but I don't want to use limewire because it has too many viruses.

I'm pretty sure those programs are found on most torrent sites.

Personally, I only download programs from private sites just to be extra careful, but I'm sure the torrents on public sites are fine.

Yeah, I can find most any program I need/want on Demonoid, and even The Pirate Bay, but I only go to TPB when Demonoid doesn't have it.

You just gotta watch out on TPB, because, like Doppleganger said, public sites have more risk of viruses. Just read up on the user comments and make sure the program works and if they've spotted any trouble.

ALSO, just because one user says there's a virus, it doesn't always mean there's one there. Some people's anti-virus programs throw up red flags for certain file types. Again, just look for user comments that either confirm or dismiss the alerts.

Go to Options > Preferences > Bandwidth, and you can adjust your upload speed. Seems like the obvious answer and you may have already tried this, but you didn't say, so just trying to help.
Keep in mind that when/if you set up your connection speeds using the uTorrent connection guide from their website, then you have already calculated that your max upload speed should be 25 kB/s or so, and that shouldn't be changed. But for download speeds of 600ish like yours, I would probably set it higher. I usually only get 400 kB/s and my upload is set to 50.

It's completely safe to delete. in order to stop this from happening, set the history (in options of pg2) to remove every day.

alright, this is really pissing me off.....

I got Bittorrent, i downloaded a few movies off a few sites; demonoid and torrentreactor i think.

So i downloaded clockwork orange, opened the file, didnt work, i needed some kind of codec decoder.

So i download this DivX codec decoder thing, apparently it's supposed to be usual thing that everyone gets and its supposed to work fine. When i open it, it looks like some old, cheap version of a microsoft media player.

I open the movie file, then it opens up automatically in the codec player screen, and it works fine, everything is good.

So i download another one, works fine, same as before.

i download two other ones, watchmen and black hawk down....

they don't work, it opens in the codec player, and it says at the bottom ''cannot render the file''.

So i'm like wtf, i thought maybe my codec was old and cheap, cuz it looks like it, i download a different codec, turns out it's not different, it's the exact same thing, idk lol i wasnt sure wtf i was doing but it said it was a different one.

So, what codec player should i download, because i'm really sick of having to download a new one for everything i download. this divx thing just doesnt seem to work with all files i download.

What the hell am I supposed to do with .cue and .log files? A lot of music that I've been looking for are ripped in these stupid formats only and they're useless. I try to mount them with Roxio Toast Titanium and they always say I'm missing the .bin file. I don't think it's a coincidence that every single image download that I've had are missing the .bin file. I'm using OSX, by the way.
