Hey guys, quick question. Are there any private trackers out there that have A LOT of lossless music? I finally got into StMusic (when they had free signup), and its... not too big on lossless, which I am. So any trackers, besides Waffles and What.cd (they ARE all lossless, right..?) that are strictly lossless? Thanks!
Waffles and What are the two best sites for flac, but both sites have lossey audio as well. Waffles has a "Waffle Iron" approval system for guaranteeing perfect rips while What.cd gives grades out of 100.

What the hell am I supposed to do with .cue and .log files? A lot of music that I've been looking for are ripped in these stupid formats only and they're useless. I try to mount them with Roxio Toast Titanium and they always say I'm missing the .bin file. I don't think it's a coincidence that every single image download that I've had are missing the .bin file. I'm using OSX, by the way.

alright, this is really pissing me off.....

I got Bittorrent, i downloaded a few movies off a few sites; demonoid and torrentreactor i think.

So i downloaded clockwork orange, opened the file, didnt work, i needed some kind of codec decoder.

So i download this DivX codec decoder thing, apparently it's supposed to be usual thing that everyone gets and its supposed to work fine. When i open it, it looks like some old, cheap version of a microsoft media player.

I open the movie file, then it opens up automatically in the codec player screen, and it works fine, everything is good.

So i download another one, works fine, same as before.

i download two other ones, watchmen and black hawk down....

they don't work, it opens in the codec player, and it says at the bottom ''cannot render the file''.

So i'm like wtf, i thought maybe my codec was old and cheap, cuz it looks like it, i download a different codec, turns out it's not different, it's the exact same thing, idk lol i wasnt sure wtf i was doing but it said it was a different one.

So, what codec player should i download, because i'm really sick of having to download a new one for everything i download. this divx thing just doesnt seem to work with all files i download.

VLC player. It's the only player you'll ever need, because it supports everything.

Well I use Medieval Cue Splitter and it worked fine on the two files I've had to use it for.

Yes VLC can play pretty much anything, it's a great program. Personally I use foobar for playing flac in windows, winamp is also pretty popular.

25. What do the red icons (Tracker Error (download)/Tracker Error (upload)) mean on the torrent status icons?

These red icons indicate that µTorrent was not able to reach the tracker. This could happen when the tracker goes offline, becomes overloaded, or when the domain simply doesn't exist anymore. Check Tracker Status on the General tab to see what the exact error message is.

In many cases, seeing this (especially if you see hostname not found in Tracker Status) and having DHT on but still having no peers to connect to may mean that you'll have to find another copy of the torrent on another tracker.

In some cases, this is normal because the tracker is overloaded or temporarily down. The torrent itself should keep seeding/downloading as long as you got some peers, and if the tracker comes back up or becomes responsive, you should have no lost ratio so long as you don't close µTorrent or stop the torrent.

Just right click one of the .rar files and extract it. If there are multiple .rar files it just means the image file was compressed into multiple files instead of just one.

First off, very few people are ever fined. In most cases it's just a cease and desist type letter. Second, it's usually just for movie downloads. Even in that case, you'd more than likely never get anything. If you really want to be safe private trackers are the way to go.

You're going to need a DVD burner program. If it's an image file or a Video_ts folder you will be able to burn it to run on a dvd player. If it's encoded to another format such as avi you'll need a program that will also convert it if you want to play it on a dvd player.

Convertxtodvd is a great program for this, handles the conversions process and then burns the movie onto a dvd after the conversion, the program can be acquired by the same means as which you acquired the movies themselves ;)

Downloaded Convertxtodvd and it works great converting it. However when burning I have a problem. I can't. It tells me to insert a black disc and it will begin automatically. I put in a blank DVD-R and nothing happens. Then I notice that it says "SONY CDRWDVD CRX310S VDK2 (Ide)" and the only other choice in that drop down box is to make an ISO. When the Sony option is selected the Burn button is grayed out. But the ISO option lets you click burn and allow it to burn.

Downloaded Convertxtodvd and it works great converting it. However when burning I have a problem. I can't. It tells me to insert a black disc and it will begin automatically. I put in a blank DVD-R and nothing happens. Then I notice that it says "SONY CDRWDVD CRX310S VDK2 (Ide)" and the only other choice in that drop down box is to make an ISO. When the Sony option is selected the Burn button is grayed out. But the ISO option lets you click burn and allow it to burn.

I don't want to sound pushy :poke: but I'm in a Google frenzy and I can't for the life of my figure out why it won't let me burn. It converts it fine but will only let me burn ISO.

Demonoid is a private tracker but it's as close to a public tracker as one could get. I actually have heard of people getting emails from corporations from downloading on demonoid. I use it as my last resort tracker. But yes, in general private trackers are safer.

The most likely cause is that even though demonoid you choice to download from a external torrent aka hosted on other sites. if you stick with the ones that are only on demonoid you should be free and clear. I have a torrent server and I have never turned it off in the past year and I only download from demonoid torrents never been called out on it.

Yes. Depending on the number of seeds and your internet speed it could take from 5 minuets, to half an hour, to a week.

Yeah currently there aren't any hdbits ones there but I've seen them there before (in fact I got an account there through that method but I never used it), just a matter of waiting for someone to offer them. Another substitute that is currently available is hdbits' sister site sdbits. But anyway I'd definitely keep working for that PU status, there are a ton of free invites in there including a thread for people offering unlimited invites.

For whatever you want to download, the torrent file basically just contains the information about the files you want to download. There are "seeders" who have the completed files ready for upload to other peers and "leechers" who are downloading the files from the seeders. You'll need a torrent client (I'd recommend uTorrent) to actually download the files that the torrent file holds information for (torrent files themselves aren't even 1mb). Just google whatever you are looking for followed by the word "torrent" and you will generally find it. For faster downloads, look for torrents with the most seeders.

Did you actually read it? It mentions Google/MSN Desktop, WinZIP Quickfind, Roxio Media Manager, Nero Scout, AVG7, and other potential problems not involving programs. It might help if you tell me what utorrent says by "status" under the general tab and and the tracker status under the trackers tab.

what kind of network are you usually using when you download? like a home network/internet connection you have admin access to or something like a school network?

Most people there will use Exact Audio Copy or dbPowerAmp with LAME as the encoder. There are guides on how to set these up so that you can create perfect rips.

Hey guys, I'm looking at a Starcraft torrent for mac and the instructions are to mount the file and crack the ISO

how do you mount and what do you do with the ISO file?
You will need a program such as Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120% to mount the image (I'm not entirely sure if either of these are available for mac, if not I'm sure there's a program out there). Basically what they do is they create a virtual disc drive so that your computer thinks you have the video game disc inserted. After installing the game, you must copy the crack file. It is a .exe file (or is it .dmg or something? sorry I'm not that familiar with macs) with the same name as the .exe file that you would normally use to run the program. It should be located in a folder within the download or in a folder in the ISO file. After copying it, go to where the game's original .exe file is and paste the crack file over it.
