i wouldn't worry if i were you, i've got a couple of torrents on there myself

for the private tracker to accurately record your seeding DHT must be turned off, this is to your benefit. and yes you can just uncheck the box when making the torrent. i wouldn't do it in preferences for when you're downloading from somewhere else, just when making torrents, it will already be disabled on torrents from private trackers

basically it acts like another tracker outside of your private tracker and when you connect to leaches through it your seeding through it doesn't get counted

Yeah(according to the TS no, but that hasn't been followed since before the fall of Oink's Pink Palace, RIP), but people mostly only give out Demonoid invites freely. You might be able to ask and get invites for specialized trackers(games, ect.) but don't ask for waffles.fm or what.cd, see my previous post farther up the page for more on that.

hey guys, I'm torrenting a bunch of stuff now, but all my downloads say "queued."
I know this means your waiting for seeders but all the stuff I'm seeding says queued also, and nothing is seeding

Everything is queued so that 5 or so downloads can receive the majority of your bandwidth and get everything done. As one download finishes another will start up. If everything were to download at once, your internet would come to a standstill and all your download speeds would be real slow.

I find it funny that you call him a noob when this isn't correct. If he's using utorrent, it will not intentionally prevent downloads from connecting unless you want it to. There is also no reason why that would stop his seeding torrents even if you were correct. Can you tell me what the tracker status is reverend? Check the trackers tab on the torrent.

Invites are for private trackers(as opposed to public like iso hunt) which only let a limited number of registered users use it. Private trackers have much higher quality torrents and user features and better organized site. The torrents on private trackers also usually have many more consistent seeders because of ratio rules(ex. if you download 5 Gigabytes you must seed to a ul/dl ratio of .15)

By all means it is worth the strict rules. Sites like What.cd and Waffles.fm get full loss-less torrents of albums weeks before they are released or other trackers get them.

if he can create invites there should be a button in the control panel that says something like "create invite" in the bottom left of the invitations box. this will generate a code that starts with his user name followed by a bunch of random numbers. then he just emails it or whatever to who he wants to

How the hell do you guys get faster torrents? The highest speed I get is usually around 150 kb/s, and sometimes it maxs at 20 kb/s. I can't even imagine getting near 1 mb/s.

Download speed will not only depend on your connection's download speed, but also the upload speed of those who are uploading to you. Try downloading torrents with more seeders rather than less and you'll get faster speeds.

Try and get your terminology straight - the torrent itself is the .torrent file that goes into your client. If your school won't allow you to download them, some sites offer the option to download the torrent file in a zip or rar file to get around that issue. I'm not sure if there is any other way you can do it though.

What this program does is create a virtual cd drive on your computer so that your system thinks you have the disc inserted. The program will appear over in your taskbar by your clock, use it to "mount" the image file. If the autoplay doesn't come up, go to my computer and run the disc manually.

During installation, the game may require a serial, if so the download should have a serial key or a key generator. After the game is installed, you will also have to crack the game's .EXE file. The download should come with a crack file that has the same name as the game's .EXE file (it, as well as the serial code, may be within the .IMG file which can be explored from my computer). Copy the crack file and go to the folder where the game installed to. Find where the game's .EXE file is and paste and replace the crack file over it. You should be good to go from there, let me know if you have any other issues.

a series of .r# files is just a .rar file that has been split up into smaller blocks. extract one of them, doesn't matter which, and winrar will know to extract them all into one file

mounting refers to either physical mounting with a real disc in a real disc drive or virtual with a disc image in a virtual drive so your computer thinks it is a real disc. If you mount the image it will run just as if you put the real disc in the disc drive.

sounds like what you did was extract the files from the image which can be helpful if you know what you're doing but something completely different

It might take a couple of days or so, but if you order it online it'd be about the same.

Closing the Lid on a laptop puts it to sleep, so nothing stays going.

What you could do, is close all the other applications bar your torrent client, and put the display to sleep, and turn the processor down to minimal performance. I dunno how to do that on windows though. :shrug:

This may not help at all, but switch to uTorrent. Definitely the best client available. The speed of the download is going to depend on the numbers of seeders that you are connected to and their upload speeds as well as your connection's download speed.

Well i assume that if you wanted to close down your laptop, then you wanted it to be asleep. So turning down all the performance settings , and quitting everything that is unnecessary, is the best way to simulate the computer being asleep

I was surprised when I didn't see this site (http://www.nowtorrents.com/) on the front page. It searches 18 different torrent sites at once and shows you which torrent has the best health from all sites it looks at.

If you don't have a torrent client get one. I suggest uTorrent. I'm just gunna assume you are using this one for the walk through.

You need to find a legit torrent of what you're looking for. Nowtorrents.com is good because it searches all the major public torrent tracker sites. Torrents with the most peers and seeders will download the fastest.

You will download a .torrent file, if you have the choice of saving or opening then chose open with uTorrent so it can handle the file for you. If you haven't already, I'd suggest going into preferences and under directories chose which folders that uTorrent will save your torrents.

uTorrent should automatically start downloading the torrent for you. If not you just need to select the torrent in your client and press start. It will take a minute or two to build up speed as you connect to seeders who are sending pieces of the torrent to you.

When you are finished you will be able to access the file you downloaded from where you told uTorrent to save it in preferences. Many times, especially with games and applications, the torrent will come with a readme or nfo, a document with serial numbers or a keygen to bypass any kind of DRM or coppyright software in the file.

Vuze works just fine for me, I have great ratios on all the private trackers I'm on.

Maybe it would help if you reduced the number of connections you allow per torrent?

Also, do you have your ports forwarded and everything?

It ain't bad, you mostly need to know about trans-coding which the interview prep page covers. Just be polite and use grammar and be honest. I got in first try.

What.cd is a great source for pretty much everything music-wise but it is hard as hell to keep a ratio after your grace period, granted they give you a pretty substantial grace period. I don't want you to be discouraged from joining but you should know what you're getting into and if you eventually get banned like I did don't feel bad about it.

Yeah they and what.cd both started due to Oink getting shut down. What.cd is the larger tracker and they have developed their own codebase. Waffles is smaller but stuck truer to Oink by using the same codebase and keeping rules like the cute avatar rule.

TPB has been pillaged by the police on several occasions and nothing has really come out of it. I'm not worried but if it's really a concern to you I'd use torrentfly.org to find good torrents.

Basically, what you've downloaded is a disk image file. By mounting this file on to a virtual drive, the computer thinks that you have a disk inserted.

First of all, you need a program to mount this image. Daemon Tools is a popular one, as well as Alcohol 120%. I'm pretty sure they're free to download.

Then you mount the file onto a virtual disk. You can google how to this as there are tons of tutorials out there that could explain it much better than I. After mounting the file, you should be able to access the install application.

This is a pretty rushed explanation. Like I said there are lots of tutorials out there about mounting image files (most of the time they talk about mounting .iso files; I'm pretty sure there isn't a difference between iso files and mds files as far as the mounting process goes).

A good torrent client installed, I'd recommend uTorrent.

If you mean from viruses, yes for the most part.

The program itself is not illegal, but it is illegal to download any material that isn't free.

It depends what you're downloading and from where. Using public sites will increase your visibility as will downloading new releases such as recent movies. At most though you'll probably just get a cease and desist type letter from the company that holds the copyright, no big deal really.

Get the client I recommended and then use google to find what you're looking for. Just type "name of album/movie/tv show/etc." followed by the word "torrent." Just realize that downloads will go faster with more "seeds" as they are users who have all the files and are currently seeding it to other "leechers." A torrent with only one or two seeders may move painfully slow, while on the other hand a movie with hundreds of seeders can be downloaded in just a few minutes or less.

If it's a torrent with only 2 seeds total, find a torrent with more seeders

If it's a torrent with more than two seeders but you are only connecting to two then try using force start or if you have a lot of other torrents active in your client seeding that can limit your connection. If that's the case then kill some of the seeding torrents and the download will be able to connect to more seeders.

I just saw this update on Demonoid today. It's an update with actual info that explains what's going on. For those who haven't seen it, here it is.

Maintenance Edit: There are some rumors about the site shutting down for good and we starting a new tracker next year. the rumors are of course, lies. There are no plans of shutting down or creating another site. And there is NO official twitter/facebook/any other web community page for Demonoid. There are a few around that were created by fans and have no link to the site or staff. The parts of the site code that got deleted are being rewritten and should be ready soon. Try a force start.
Also if you have too many total connections between all the peers and seeders of all your dl and ul combined then it will stall the newer torrents until some of those other peers/seeders disconnect. This is why it's not good to be seeding too many torrents at one time.

You can raise the max total number of global connections, assuming your bandwidth can handle it. Also turn off any "queuing".

I'm assuming you have quite the speedy internet connection then. I've ran into the problem even though I have the max connections limit set at 10,000. Stopped some of my seeding torrents and my downloads got to full speed.

Odd that a torrent just won't work, double check all your settings and everything and if you can't seem to get it to work then try to find another torrent of what you're looking for. If another torrent doesn't work then it's something with your client probably and if another one does then it may just be that torrent or the tracker(s) it uses.

Proxies are only good for hiding HTTP traffic(general web browsing, email ect.), you van use a proxy with some torrent clients too but I have never been able to get this to successfully work properly. I suggest Ultrasurf for general use as it has gotten me past every firewall I've come against.

There are ways to spoof your IP and MAC addresses such as freely available programs but I haven't experimented with either of these and don't know of their effectiveness against ISPs.

If you're paranoid I'd suggest avoiding the major public sites like TPB but otherwise visiting the site isn't what puts you at risk, downloading illegally does.

edit: I've noticed Demonoid's HTTP tracker seems to be working now though the udp tracker is still not responding. Hopefully this is a sign of progress.

Also, I don't know if this counts the right thread for this question but what the ****, I have been searching for a crack or keygen for peavey's revalver MK III, but everything single one I download doesn't work, and the stupid "registration" sign always comes up.

Now what I'm really asking is, does anyone know where to download a safe, good and working crack for revalver MK III? I like some of the sounds I have heard made from it and want it!

I got the new version of Vuze (4.3 I believe, for Max OSX)

and whenever I use it, it cancels my wifi connection so often that I can't download shit

Try Transmission and see if that works better.



I'm assuming you have quite the speedy internet connection then. I've ran into the problem even though I have the max connections limit set at 10,000. Stopped some of my seeding torrents and my downloads got to full speed.

Not especially, it works ok. Can DL at up to 1.5MB/s if there are alot of peers, and UL has top sustainable speed at around 100kB/s though it can hit 200kB/s+ in bursts. I have my max global connections limited to 300 though; this seems to work fine even during a site freeleech when many of the torrents will be active at once. My connection heavily favours DL, so I never have to stop seeding or tweak settings to improve DL speed.
