Hello again. I’ve not put anything on for quite a long time.
I’ve been busy writing my songs but I came attached to writing this one.

This is my second attempt at an instrumental, the first one failing miserably.

It is called “At Journey’s End” and at first it was based on Orion from Metallica. From there I turned it into this song.

The first thing you should notice is the length… be warned now... Orion was a long song (8:27) but this sails over the 9-minute mark, making it the longest song I’ve ever written.
Something I noticed about my older songs is that there were boring bits in them where there wasn’t a lot happening, so I’ve pushed the boat out as far I can to make sure there aren’t any boring bits.

Listen to it and give it a rating,
And I’ll happily give your songs crit if you do the same.

the intro riffs are great but the main riff sounds wayyyyy too much like orion sure it has some nice leads over it which is cool but it just sticks in your head that it is the same as orion. i love the bit that starts at 69 that was great. for guitar solo 2 i think you really need to go back and make sure youre in key for all of it as some of it sounded realllly off but it was cool all the same.

101 again is pretty much a recycled riff from Orion

solo 3 was sweet. and again at 143 the riff is basicallt the same as the one in ORION played at a different place on the neck. the acoustic part was nice and then the last solo was good, although a bit too similar to solo 4

it was toooooo long. for how similar it was the whole way through whick made it kinda boring after a while. you should try to be more melodic in your solos instead of constant shredding as it wears on the listener, and most of all try to be more original. that (and im sure most will agree) sounded way too much like Orion. which is a big

Also im not being a dick here im just suggesting, if you want people to put effort into critting your stuff you should put more into critting theirs instead of just a 'great stuff' or 'i didnt like it' as most people would rather you said specifics like what you liked and didnt etc so they can improve ;) the more you put in the more you get out.

Out of all the stuff you've posted here, this is you best effort. It's long but I don't mind. Your writing skills seem to improve with every song you post up here. Especially in the lead department, even though it's all pretty basic, it fits the music perfectly (solo 3 is my favorite). I also told you before that it reminded me of orion a bit, but it doesn't really bother me.
I like it!

8/10

Well, of course its quite similar to Orion. Yeah you said it in the presentation of this work. It's long but I wasnt boring at all, only at the end jejeje. Ok, about your solos, musically I liked most your second solo, and even the fourth one. The Third was really wierd, but it fit with the song. About your bass, I can only say good things, It was Ok, so groovy, and it wasn't as important as in Orion, so it's Ok. Maybe you must improve a little more your drums, it would help to make a little less boring the song in some parts, I repeat, in my opinion this is not a repetitive song at all.

I think, that maybe this song its unnecessary long in some riffs, try making them shorter, but keeping the same intensity.

Its a very good work overall. 8/10

Overall not a bad song. Some of the solos were a bit off though as the other people said. It was also very long and repetitive. If its an insturmental, maybe try not to play the same riff at two different points in the song, except of couse the intro and outro acoustic can stay the same. Besides that, it was alright. 7/10

The intro's is okay but I don't like the G# chord in there. The riff starting at Bar 25 is wayyyyyy too much like orion. The solo was alright, but it was copying the rhythm too much. Again the riff after sounds a lot like orion, just a little varied. It starts to get a little random after that. I liked the riff at bar 69, it sounded pretty cool. For the second solo, I think you should have more varied backing track. Also, a lot of notes were out of key and didn't sound good. The third guitar solo was better than the other two, but still needs work.

Overall man, it's okay. It needs a lot of work. Pretty good job though.

If you are trying to listen to the MIDI file, make sure the midi volume is up, chack master volume to find out. If that doesn't solve it then there must be something wrong at your end

Those triplet things starting on bar 101 are sort of annoying, and it feels like the 3rd guitar solo should be the ending - have it fade out on that one. Everything after taht almost seemed tacked on, like it was there just to make the song longer. So much of it sounds like an alternate take of Orion that after listening to it, I have Orion stuck in my head now. I really liked the 2nd solo though.

Oooh, I like. The Orion thing works well I think, youve got most of it but tied it together with an E5 chord before the A5, which sounds pretty cool.

I think that in some parts there could be a bit more melodic variation, such as bars around 90 to 100, where the slide could go lower than the A, to make it more interesting; along with the acoustic outro. However, I say that, and when I was listening to it I was almost expecting the variation that I mentioned, so in effect you made it more interesting by not doing that. But overall I think it fits in better.

Riff wise, very nice :). Very nice rhythms and melodies with the power chords, and the harmonization over it fits nicely.

Solos were pretty good, solid melody, but I think that you could divert from the pure triplet feel in most places to a bit more varied rhythm. I do, however, like the fast triplets around bars 160-170.

The acoustic interlude is not really fitting, when the rhythm guitars come in along side it some of the intervals are quite harsh, and the whole thing doesnt sound that nice, I would drop it.

If you were to record this I would, not only be impressed, but would enjoy listening to it. Very good stuff here, and a few tweaks would make it great.
