Man this place has sure slowed down over the summer, I probably won't get a reply in time for bed, but how is life people?
I am on a killer road trip with some friends, at the moment I am in Vancouver then we're on to Alberta, Banff Calgary and Edmonton.
stopped in to a local music shop in Kamloops B.C. yesterdat, I was playing around on a tele, and had a man offer to record me, it was a pretty amazing feeling.
I hope your summers have been as great as mine,
ciao guys

pretty nice car to be driving when held next to my subaru
well this place sure seems dead alright
I wish I could have shown you guys the mine I worked at though, pretty cool stuff, I worked on a tailings pipeline that fed ponds of waste water, it carried sand and water, the pond was a white sandy beach with green water on top of a mountain in northern B.C., I got a kick out of it.
take it easy goolz, and be good ;)

The deadline for the album is in a few days, and we have less than 10 songs. Im going to have to extend the deadline for probably another month. When i started it, i didn't want it to be still going on when i start uni because i want to work a lot this year. So ill carry on sorting out the album until about the 15th-20th of September, but after that, if anyone wants to take over, id be grateful.

Yoooo
I had another awesome day.
After 4 and a half hours sleep and a night/early morning of jamming a few friends and I went Camden innit brer. Anyway, after hours of mindless wondering and flirting I found an incredible blues band on a corner! They were absolutely incredible, they had a Banjo, a one string bass (with a drum at the bottom), a Kazoo and a 1930's Dobro. I heard them screaming 32 20 Blues and legged it to where the sound was coming from. :haha I got a 16 track cd for 3 quid (6 dollars?) when it should've been 10. :) Then I sat there chatting to the guitarist about Blind Willie Johnson and Reverend Gary Davis.
If anyone wants to check em out, they're from New York and called the Cowboy Killers.

Goolz, I must thank you for talking about Junior Kimbrough so much. I couldn't really get into him, but I've been in mood for that kinda single riff repeated throughout the song (The Soledad Brothers did this great imo) and doing what Ben Swank of The Soledad's descibed as "grabbing the boogie, just a straight groove and beating it to death into the ground. What Junior Kimbrough used to call the endless groove".
Anyway, I now firmly believe that Junior Kimbrough and RL Burnside are fantastic.

This is it...
He's an amazing artist, and I really expected atleast a mention of him on these forums. I'm really digging some Miles Davis and George Benson. I'm mostly talkin about jazz, I'm pretty deep into blues.
Oh and John Mayer is... mediocre. I only enjoy a few of his songs. His tone/gear is incredible though.
imgooley
09-05-2008, 01:52 PM
Good gear=/=good tone.
I personally don't like his tone, fwiw.
But on the Jazz tip, what are your thoughts on Monk?
TNfootballfan62
09-05-2008, 01:59 PM
^But if he just turned his mids a bit more to the right, his tone would be good as gold.
On the John Mayer Note: I think this ocelott fellow ignores my posts when I respond to something he says and he has no rebuttal. This isn't the first time it's happened. I wish he would just admit defeat. :p;
imgooley
09-05-2008, 02:05 PM
^He is very  envoking sometimes, no?
If he would just branch out...
And yes, if he had more midz, he would be in the right area. His tone is anemic.
