I really hate Radiohead for some unknown reason, seriously, it's hard-wired into my brain

I have even tried to listen to their stuff... but I just can't get into it at all, which is odd, because I love a number of bands from that same genre/time period.

Lets see some interesting discussion here, who do you all think the weirdest/most unique artist in your collection is?

Awesome video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81jrr3Dxpr4 Mr. Satan seems like a really cool guy.

As for the weirdest artis I have.. either 'Godspeed You! Black Emperor', which is basically just atmospheric, ambient noise kinda stuff or 'Sky Eats Airplane' which is a hardcore band that mix crazy electro stuff in with growly/tech-metal/hardcore stuff.

I don't keep music on my computer, anymore that is. It got so slow my dad made me take all of it off. My brother's record collection is HUGE. And mine grows every week.

My dad had an 8 by 8 wall in his flat of 78's and 45's, between him and his best friend, and one night they went out for dinner, came back. And all of them were gone...

sre9981
03-27-2008, 12:44 PM
8300 as of today, it grows daily though...

As I forgot to mention my oddities, I'd have to say:

early Neutral Milk Hotel (entire albums of them just making noise, i.e. Invent Yourself a Shortcake)
Xiu Xiu ([from wikipedia]Xiu Xiu's music draws heavily from several disparate genres including punk, noise rock, ambient noise, modern classical, and folk.)
Aphex Twin (but who doesn't love glitch :P)
and of course
Animal Collective (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9F5ZthSUcE speaks for itself)

I have a penchant for enjoying music noone else does

(oh and Godspeed You! Black Emperor can only be described as epic... if you like them, be sure to check out Explosions in the Sky, they're great post-rock, they did the soundtrack to Friday Night Lights)

Just ordered some goodies off Musician's Friend. New strap (nice vintage tweed look :P), straplocks, mic (Shure PG57, got good reviews all around), a new output jack for my strat (grr mine broke), and a mic stand for recording my amp :)

The jam session last night was good, lots of jazz fusion-y stuff, i need to start studying my theory again so I can know what to play over chords and whatnot but it'll come.

True story, until the age of 20 (6 months ago), i thought that simba's dad was called Mustapha. I always wondered why he had an Indian name when he lived in Africa

By the way, when i say true story, i don't mean that the Lion King is a true story, i mean that my story is true!

(well, i guess that the Lion King story could be true......)

Seriously dude, is that singer always drunk?

high maybe, but as far as I know, he doesn't do drugs at all

if I could equate his on stage personality to any other i would say he is about as crazy as Jim Morrison, minus the backstage rape/jacking off on stage thing

1.

he talks to his microphone because "he" thinks "he" is a man

a quote:

"the microphone, thinks, he's a man, the microphone stand, THINKS. HE. IS. A. MAN!!"

2.

when i saw them live last year, he laid down on a monitor and sang an entire song while pretending to be asleep

3.

that killerwhaletank story, was made up, on the spot in a performance in 1994

So i just got Iron Maiden seats! :)

Damn Ticketmaster though pisses me off. I was waiting from about 9:55 when the seats go on sale at 10. So I'm just refreshing the page every once in a while and all of a sudden right at 10. The fucking thing boots me off saying that I refreshed the page too many times! So I run across the house to my moms computer and quickly go on Ticketmaster and do all the crap and end up with 2 seats when I wanted to get 4. I probably would have had very very good seats if it wasn't for damn Ticketmaster and their rules!

Oh well, I still got seats :)

Jimmy94
03-28-2008, 01:57 PM
the same thing has happened to me before Dimebag... the reason they do that is to get rid of bots that refresh 7 times every second and buy all the good seats instantly, but sometimes it catches the average concert goer unfortunately. Ticketmaster sucks in many ways but be thankful you don't have to wait in line for a weekend at a ticket tron, or enter lotteries for tickets like people had to in the old days!
