Doesn't Braedon go to school or something? How can he stay up all one day and sleep the next? I thought he was in college right now.

But on another note, this thing that says who looked at your profile thing is sweet, but I'm a little concerned. This one dude who keeps bugging me to put my acoustic "Little Wing" as downloadable on myspace has been to my profile 3 times today. That's kind of creepy.

i don't like it. there are a few people who keep looking at my profile, and i have no idea who they are! i would look at their profile to see who they are, but i don't want to encourage them. They'll add me on msn, and the conversation will go like this:

i had that when i put my msn up on my profile, awkward, so i took my addy off my profile. the point where it got too far was when some 14 year old kid added me because i reported him in s&l and did some gangsta sp33k to me complaining :)

yup, 808s or 9s, i can't remember. probably both at some point or another :p:

the 808 costs around 3 times more than the 7, but a simple mod can get the 7 to sound exactly like the 808 - profit!

I had that as well! An 08er added me, and i had no idea who he was. He was younger than my little sister, so it felt weird to talk to him. But i don't know why he added me. the ts7s are pretty bad i heard, tone-wise, hence the cheap price, so it's not a good idea to get one if you're not going to mod it. the 'changing it to 808' process is very easy it seems, you just need to do some resoldering or something.

The Soledad Brothers, The Hives, The Vines, Detroit Cobras, The Dirtbombs, The Gories, The Screws, The Hiss, The Voltaire Brothers, The U-Boats, The White Panther Society, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Strokes, The Mooney Suzuki, Hot Hot Heat, The Von Bondies, The Datsuns (one of my favourite bands), Jet, Kings Of Leon (only look at the first album - the rest is ****ty indie music).

Enjoy finding their music, most of them are broken up already. :haha

All you people talking about Tubescreamers... Maxon OD 808s are way better than the TS808s in my opinion. I have a TS9 and a Od808 and have used many TS808s and I can tell you from experience that I like the tone I get on the Maxon way better.

Maxon was the original producer of Tubescreamers, they used the specs that Ibanez gave them and produced them under Ibanez's name. Then when they discontinued the TS808s, Maxon decided to use the specs of it and use it on their own pedal, The Maxon OD808. Even now, the Reissue TS808s aren't to specs of the original where as the Maxon OD808 is the exact specs of the famous pedal.

While I like tubescreamers, I've always preferred dialing in my ridiculous over the top tone into my amp and guitar, then adjusting the volume and tone to get quieter rhythm, all the way down to clean if I want. I enjoy fooling around with the knobs while I play too for some reason.

reading,

I'm back I think.. Was weird I kinda felt like I had a life.. Haven't posted for about 4 days.

Went on holidays to play sessions all weekend to raise money for a charity lifeboat. We ended up raising £1200 so it was quite good and everyone had fun anyway. Me and the GF had to sleep in this tiny tent that leaked water in the gale-force winds and pissing down rain whilst the rest of her family (even the dogs!) got to sleep in the massive brand new caravan. Was good to get away from them though, her family is annoying as hell.

Hey guys, I found out recently that my family and I are going to London, Paris, Normandy, and Italy.

Hey guys, I found out recently that my family and I are going to London, Paris, Normandy, and Italy.

I think we are spending the most time in London. Which leads me to this question, what is cool to see while there??? Are there any good guitar shops? Are there any cool places to see that have to do with music history other than the hard rock cafe??

Denmark street is full of overpriced guitar/music shops, it's fun to look around but everything is wayyy expensive, anything you find there you can probably get cheaper somewhere else. Definitely check it out though.

And right near Denmark street there's the chinese restaurant "Lee Ho Fook's" which is the actual restaurant from the song "Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon.. That was interesting Lol

in london, you can visit Hendrix's house. Im not entirely sure where it is, but its pretty famous. Ronnie Scott's is a must for any jazz fan, but expect a large bill! Also, check out Pizza Express just off Oxford street (i think) because that's where some big names in jazz play.

Abbey Road is a must for any music fan. Take a photo of yourself doing the beatles walk across the road, and post it on here!

I was explaining how to get to Denmark Street and stuff around the area, then my computer crashed, FFS!

MONSTA EDIT:

Here I go again.

Denmark Street is in Camden, and the nearest Tube (London Underground) stop is Tottenham Court Road, about 2-4 minutes walk away. Denmark Street is at the west side connected to Charing Cross Road, and on the east side St. Giles High Street, I think? Could be the other way round...

I wouldn't say they are overpriced, and usually do good deals, and because they are all next door to each other, it's not a problem finding what you want without travelling around! Expect to spend about 2-4 hours there though, if you're gonna look at everything and play the odd guitar...

The Pizza Express Jazz Club is supposed to be really good, but expensive, you can probably find similar kinda places in the area, but yeah, that's pretty well known.

To be honest, for Hard Rock Cafe, I think you have to book pretty far in advance? So theres little chance of getting a table.

yeah, I'm a Londoner.
My brother (who's 21) says most jazz clubs have a weekly blues night. And there are loadsa blues bars and jazz clubs or w/e around Oxford Street. I also recommend going to see "We Will Rock You" if you can get tickets...It's really good.

Hmm classic movies..

Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, A Clockwork Orange, One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, Snatch, Fight Club, Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now, Predator 1 (#2 sucks ass IMO), True Lies, Gone in 60 Seconds (The original is better than the remake), Battle Royale, Requiem For A Dream, The Boondock Saints.. Anything with Jackie Chan or Jet Li, their older sub-titled movies are way better than the newer stuff. Enter The Dragon, or Dragon the Bruce Lee story.

I could sit here all day naming good movies, that's one thing I really miss about home was our massive DVD collection, we had over 1500 when I left. Over here I have about 30, if that..

Vagabond21

As fellow blues players you might appreciate this.

Yesterday, after work, I went to my towns mom and pop guitar store to check out some acoustic guitars. The old black man that is there every time I go with his Jack Daniels acoustic, was there again.

I was pickin around on an acoustic, and started playin a little moby dick by zeppelin. (even though the guitar wasn't in drop D, I'm lazy). He, at the moment had a bass plugged up, and without saying a word just started to jam with me. Then I played some RL burnside (alice mae) and we jammed some more. A little later he had grabbed his acoustic and we jammed to some hey joe by hendrix.
Afterwards, we talked at little and then he left. It was loads of fun, I've only jammed with him maybe once before and only for one song. (I think it was sweet home alabama but I dont remember)

Sorry if this was a pointless read, I just had a blast. I only have 2 other friends that play instruments (guitar) and who like the same music I do. And I rarely get to play with them

I wish I knew more people who played ANY instruments... :(

And Paris is really nice, I've been there 3 or 4 times. The last time we went was for a few days with my brother's best friends family, who are french. And we went to this really nice restaurant, and the food was great, but no joke, it took 3 hours for them to actually bring the food. :haha We were told it would take some time... but it was well worth it. Are french people as rude as people say they are???

That might be just a stereotype.

On a funny sidenote...
When my aunt went a couple years ago, a french lady tried to steal her purse. My aunt promptly cussed her and proceeded to give her an old fashioned country girl beat down. From what I hear it was quite funny.

Dimebag22
04-02-2008, 10:42 PM
Back shop at a golf course. So basically, taking the carts from the people and washing them down and parking them. Then cleaning the driving range from balls in a big machine. About 4 or 5 of my friends work there so it should be a good time. Hopefully they call me back and I can go for the interview :)

Good pay too. I think starting wage is around $9 or $10/hour.

For sure man. Plus about 5 of my good friends work there too. It would be way better than my job I had last year... I hated it.

Never work at a place with fast food. Restaurants are ok, but not fast food :p: Horrible job. The people get mad at you for the most stupid stuff. I got yelled at because we were out of ketchup :(

well, I know some are awful, my best friend's sister worked at a little restaurant, and it was just stupid there, they were understaffed so they called her in at a moments notice, they had some of the rudest customers out there, and they were just bad in general.

she said it was hell.

My brother worked in MacDonalds :haha He said it was alright, because his manager was really cool, and just took the piss outta the chavs. :haha
And also, it was right next to a train station where all his friends live near, and most people from my school get off at, so anyone he knew, he just talked to them. But he said never, ever eat from there...coz you see what goes on whilst making it, and it's just gross...and he's some kinda fair trade freak. :p:

Hospitality isn't a bad industry to get into, if you can get working for the right people, and get some good qualifications it's usually piss easy work for very good money. I worked in a big insudtry catering company for like 2 years, we ran 3 massive canteens inside a steelworks to feed all the workers and I was 17, earning $19 an hour, for standing there making sandwiches all day.. Sometimes even easier **** like just working on the register.

The only problem with that work is if you do work in a proper restaurant then pretty much kiss all your friday saturday and sunday nights goodbye, which is always the busiest times for restaurants.. Which means if you're in a band then you're either missing out on gigs, or missing out on good money from your job.

/my philoophy on hospitality.

I just got a job too, I'm going to be a barman in the pub where I play sessions every week, could be interesing seeing as how I'm straight edge and hate drunk people. The boss is awesome though so he'll look after me good.

AND I got my new amp and it rules, now I need to find a Budda Wah and some form of sexual, unique overdrive pedal (aka NOT an OCD or tubescreamer)

Sounds awesome, exactly what I wanted from it, now I just need to sort out speaker issues and I'll be a happy chappy.

The wood is a really nice colour IRL just bad eBay photos. And yeah the front plate is definitely going, just trying to decide what I'll replace it with. The knobs are staying though, I like them.

have a piece of polished stainless steel or aluminum cut to size, and pay someone to engrave a design you like in it, that would look amazing

also you should consider having it upholstered with tweed, since it is based on a fender is it not? because tweed amps look shmexy

and maybe buy some fender chicken head knobs to boot

i modded my tubescreamer! well, my dad did most of it. and christ, it's a pain. the resistors are in the most awkward place ever and it's so easy to mess it up. i take it back, this is not something i'd want to do for a living :p:

quite a long time, longer than i'd anticipated. it wasn't as straightforward as i thought, taking it apart was bad enough but trying to pull out the resistors at the exact moment that you desolder them while holding the board horizontally to make sure there are NO bridges whatsoever because if there are, the thing is broken. :\

TheDev01dOne
04-04-2008, 09:13 AM
You need to get one of those solder pump things that sucks off the solder when its melted so you don't need 3 hands to de-solder stuff.

I worked my first shift as a barman last night and it was pretty fun, I don't know alot of stuff still but I can do all the normal ****, just need to learn how to tap the barrels and random stuff like that. I get beer all over myself though cos I have really shakey hands and always spill **** when I go to hand it to someone, hopefully I get better at that I hate the smell of beer.

I'm really bored, I'm trying to learn Evil by Howlin' Wolf as a simple slide progression to do at a session tonight but I dunno if I'll get it good enough in time, I always seem to learn new songs just a few hours before I want to play them somewhere instead of practising them properly and getting good at them first. I'm rather unorganised that way.

Do any of you cover any Howlin' Wolf songs? I've really been digging his songs, most of them were written by Willie Dixon though I assume but they really seem to suit him. They all have weird droning music structures though and it's hard to spice them up a bit even to a simple 12bar without losing the rawness of the songs, that's what I'm finding difficult.

Hey guys I was wondering if yall know any young (15-30) females that like the blues. And if so, what artists, songs do they like?

My gf (her pic is on my profile if you care to see her) is country as horse manure, so she inevitably listens to mostly country.
However, I've recently burned her a cd with a bunch of random bluesy stuff on it.

Songs she likes: soulshine-govt mule, smokestack lightning-howling wolf, a few songs by bb king, buddy guy, and the allman brothers.

Anyone else know any blues songs that a girl might dig?

edit: p.s. dammit carswell your avatar continues to freak me out

:haha She'll love you for that. :haha

Stormy Monday - T Bone Walker
Ain't No Sunshine When Shes Gone - Freddie King

Some of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac songs (when they were good) are pretty mellow and chill, but with considerable blues influence.

School, for me anyway, is ****in' awesome. :haha

Last year was bad, coz I got in lots of trouble which I deserved, but I also had lots of fun in which no one got hurt or anything, so that was awesome. This year has been awesome though, because I haven't been in trouble once, have got awesome grades, and have had so much fun. And all the fights I've got into, I haven't got into trouble, and beat them to the point where they are to embarrassed to bully my friends. :)

Two years ago, the guys who were leaving for Uni, locked the librarian in the library, locked the head of six form in her office, cemented the assistant head teachers door closed, make HUGE plaster dicks on walls of classrooms and put live gold fish into water jugs at lunch, and put like fish (big kinda fish) inside desks, books and bags. :

:haha That year was fun.

I realised my tuners had been a bit wobbly recently, so took them out fiddled around for a bit then put them back it, and voila! Everythings fine there.
Then I decided I'd look to see what I'd have to do for the Greeny mod, and have a look around inside, I now actually understand, fully, what to actually do, and why. :)

Do it man for sure. It'll probably be piss easy and good excercise anyway and you get paid. Get used to early mornings as soon as you can, you'll have to be up that early for most jobs.

I phailed my cover of Evil at the session tonight, forgot all the words but it was still a good jam I guess Lol everything else went well I did crawling kingsnake, stack shot billy, Hey joe, and knockin on heavens door and you ain't going nowhere since it's an americana themed session and they all fap over Bob Dylan. Was a fun night, it was way more crowded than usual, good mix of music and instruments.

Dude, he's so picky about his tone.
