What do y'all say about this amp?

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-Twin-Amp-100Watt-AllTube-Guitar-Amp?sku=480649

Tried it out at Long and McQuade and it sounded awesome. Might buy it with my work money from this summer :)

That is a godly amp, I play it at my local music place all the time.

Oh yeah, and I failed my driving test. It sucks but whatever, I'll just retake it in a week.

How did you pull that one off, dude?

:haha Well I ****ed up the manuevering by hitting a cone, I over corrected when I was actually good to begin with going backwards. And then I was so pissed after that, that I thought a one way stop was a 3 way, and I started to inch infront of the stop bar. The stupid examiner had to tell me to stop, so I got an automatic fail for that. But I didn't get any points off (except for the automatic fail)! :p:

dimebag, I don't have any experience with that particular amp, but you can not go wrong with a fender twin reverb or fender 65 super reverb.

Personally I would go for a 65 super reverb, see if you can't find one and give it a try.
I tried them all out. I liked this one the best. I played a Twin Reverb and a VibroVerb. I think...
I liked this one because it has a godly clean but then you can switch the channel and get some killer distortion too. Plus with 7 preamp and 4 output tubes, you can't go wrong! :p: That's almost double of what I have right now.
I'd rather have a Marshall Bluesbreaker, I think. But a Fender Twin Reverb would do nicely :haha.
I actually tried out the Bluesbreaker. And though it has amazing cleans, I don't like the fact that you can't get OD at a low volume. It's a sick amp though.

Oh and for whoever was saying that 100W is too loud. I totally agree, but this has a switch that puts it down to 1/4 power. So really you get best of both worlds if you ever need to crank it up that loud, and you still have a good volume for practicing

TheDev01dOne
04-15-2008, 11:04 PM
I really like Peavey SS amps. I have a Rage 158 practice amp, had it since I started playing, so about 13 years now and it still works perfect and sounds pretty good to me for a tiny practice amp. We also have a 120W Classic chorus 2x12 and it's a beast, its really old, 70s or 80s but it sounds great on the clean channel, the built in reverb, chorus and flanger sound good. Even the overdrive is really nice for an SS amp and everything still works 100% perfect, we got it for £50, was a mad bargain. It weighs an absolute tonne though!

Anyway.. I have been lured bak into playing Xbox this week and have barely touched a guitar, I feel kinda guilty letting it distract me. Oh well its still fun, Wakeboarding Unleashed is such a kickass game, anyone played it?

imgooley

weak

yeah, I want to replicate B.B.'s tone, I'm still not sure what amp I really want, I really don't care how much I have to spend either

if I bought a good $1500 amp I'd never need another one

then I can focus on getting a good strat and an es-335

imgooley
04-15-2008, 11:49 PM
Yeah, once I get my AC30, I'll be happy for a while, but I will probably want a Fender or Ampeg to get a nice treblely jangle when I need it. Probably the Ampeg J-20, or a used Reverb Rocket if I can find one.

And TBH, I like the Sheraton more than the ES-335. I don't know why. I am a sucker for semi's and full hollows though.

The nut on my Ibanez is cut really low, and every time I use slide on the low end of the neck, I hit the frets. So I put some Aluminum Foil on the nut when I strung it and it raised the action nicely.

Hey guys, when you do a turnaround in a 12 bar blues progression, do you stick to the original key of the song or do you briefly switch to the key of the V chord???

EX: Key of E. For the turnaround do you play in the key of B? (if you arent playing a B chord) or E?

Haha... trust me my neck is red.

I have a good job, I can't complain.

I've been in the business since I was 14 though. I'd work there in the summer and go to school (well... more like play football) the rest of the year.

edit: After work today I drove to my grandpas abandoned pig farm, drank a tall boy and caught bass after bass. One was bigger than my foot. I then smoked a cigar with a dip in my mouth with Johnny Cash blaring on the way home.

I'm red I promise lol

Unfortunately no, it's got a super charged 3.8 v6 I believe. Can't have it all I guess! I don't think there's been a 5.7 monte carlo since the 70's, the highest they go to now is 5.3 and that's with the 05-07 models.

TheDev01dOne
04-17-2008, 09:07 PM
Not really interested in resonators TBH. Looking to hopefully get a guitar handmade before I go to take back to Aus with me from a luthier here called Rob Armstrong. Probably end up being like a dreadnaught cutaway but with a thinner waist than normal. Gonna cost a lot though, apparently he says his prices start at £1200 and finish at £1200 so once I have that saved up I'll get my GFs dad to take me up there. My GFs dad has 2 of his instruments, a doubleneck acoustic 6/12 string and a mandocello with solid brazilian rosewood back and sides. They're great, the doubleneck is seriously the nicest acoustic guitar I've ever heard.

I'm a Jack White fanboy. :haha

He uses a 1970 Twin Reverb and 2 100 watt Silvertone amps with 6 10 inch speakers. but records on different amps. When playing live I think he uses a Silvertone and the Twin Reverb together...Both on 10...
On Icky Thump he used Tele's quite a lot.

I like this video of him, it's awesome. :haha

I like Jack White, he just seems like a cool interesting dude, I love eccentric people. Not to mention I just want to rub my crotch on his White Penguin or his copper "Triple Jet".. He has some mighty fine guitars these days. Not a fan of that red plastic one though.

I'd do it. Isn't she supposed to have some sex video of her floating about? Or is it bull****?

Vagabond21
04-18-2008, 12:42 PM
I heard it was bull. I watched it (its only like a minute long) It kinda looks like her but who knows.

Gools, lol I know she plays the drums like a 5 year old, I just think shes hot for some reason.

I know jack and meg used to be married. Now they aren't and jack and his new wife live here in Nashville. I've always wondered how him and meg continue to get along as a band after they've been divorced. No jealousy??? I also wonder if they still do it.

It sucks that meg started having panic attacks and they had to cancel their tour a few months ago... I've more PAs than I can count... I know how she feels.

ya that sucks, i was supposed to go to the nebraska show last year fall but they canceled the whole tour like a month before. i hope they tour again. but im goin to see the raconteurs at the end of this month, so its all good.

and yes i'd do meg!!!!!!

*EDIT*
o and the sex tape was fake. it was supposed to be of jack and meg, but the dude didnt look like jack at all and the chick, who has some similarities (big boobs, long dark hair, pasty white, and a lil pudgy) was not meg.

Anyone know any good (simple) songs in open Dm? I tried learning Hard Time Killin' Floor but I can't fingerpick well enough, but I really like the tuning, just been jamming on it for like an hour trying to find cool licks, would like to learn some proper songs in that tuning though.

Also.. Anyone else looking forward to UG Blues album mach II? I know I am, hopefully get something groovy for slide or open tuning happening since it has to be an original.

I was supposed to see The Stripes at the O2 in November, but they cancelled. *humph*
Oh well, I'll be sure to see them next time around.

I saw "Shine a Light", The Rolling Stones documentary by Martin Scorcese today (whilst I should have been at school taking some exams :haha) it wasn't so much a documentary, more of a recording of a concert. But a ****ing incredible concert. Buddy Guy, Jack White and Christina Aguilera [sp?] play as well. All the clips for the past are good though, but not long, and they are always stoned and never give proper answers to any questions.

Too much gain, delay, compression and wankery for me, but he has good technique and some nice licks. I like the weird thing he does when he plays a flat note and the bends it up to pitch, sounds cool but I imagine it takes lots of practice to get it right.

I mean, he is good considering who he is...

a fat redneck playing guitar to a video camera in his basement....right?

What is Junior Kimbrough's best album? I got meet me in the city but it seems a bit rough, can't hear the vocals and ****.

Chulahoma is great I love how Dan(? Is he the guitarist?) gets the vocal melody going on slide while he sings it in a lot of the songs, that is probably one of the things I like best out of all guitar playing. Just sounds so cool to me.
