I looove Racer X, but their singer REALLY bugs me for some reason. I like their songs but I just don't think his voice matches IMO.

Ah well, their twin guitar parts were godly so that makes up for it lol.

Second Heat is one of my favorite albums of all time, and paul gilbert is pretty much my favorite guitarist.

Pablo's the reason I got into them too but Bruce still has chops out the ass, however I don't think he's been in Racer X for a while now.

i love the technical difficulties intro where gilbert just says "technical difficulties", does the rock sign with his hands, plays intense guitar for 4 and a half minutes, and then just stops.

brilliant!

It's an awesome video and a damn good song, rocks to hell live.

It's not really a Racer X song though so should we really be talking about it in a Racer X thread

Yeah, I remember reading that Bruce wanted to go into a bluesier direction/was having some problems with tension in his arm, so he stopped playing with the band. He did produce some of their later records, though.

He also did at least one solo album but IIRC it's quite hard to get hold of.

Yep Racer X is definitely my favorite shred band. Paul is probably my favorite guitarist. I think one of their best songs is King of the Monsters on Superheroes. The whole record was great but that song really stands out to me.

its kinda sad that bruce doesn't get as much recognition as paul

he was definetly just as good a player considering he had to double and harmonise a lot of pauls riffs/lines

Bruce is bloody awesome but I think PG gets the recognition deservedly because he wrote/writes basically all the music.

Anybody have a backing track for Scarified. Not MIDI but actual instrumentals recorded of the drums / bass/ bruce?

never heard a backing track with the harmony part.
there are programmed backing tracks (better quality than midi) on guitarchaos.com though...

Heart of a Lion is my personal favorite song by them. The riffs and solo are just awesome. Of course, Judas Priest wrote that one... but still.
