06-16-2009, 11:31 AM
they toured with hardcore bands, i think any pop/punk band has reason enough to be mentioned in the hardcore forum since most of the time the two genres go hand in hand, i mean last week i saw crime in stereo and title fight play with ceremony and paint it black

handbanana
06-16-2009, 11:42 AM
four years strong, set your goals, and fireworks all suck. syg used to be aight, the rest of them really suck imo. fireworks is the lamest band ever, and fys is like a scenecore pop/punk band. set your goals hasnt had good songs since the ep before mutiny. all the new songs on mutiny sucked. sorry if im bursting your bubble a little truck, but if you like polar bear club i would listen to Living With Lions, Daylight, Title Fight, All in a Year, Balance and Composure, Boys Night Out

This band is awesome. Saw them live a while back, got so many mic grabs. I think I was one of the only guys in Calgary who knew all the words. At one point in time, during burned out in a jar, it was just me and Jimmy holding the mic singing the "Damn it all I am just sad" part, and i jumped up on my friends back to keep singing so he just gave the mic to me. Do yourself a favour and get The Redder The Better as well, easily my favourite release. I saw them once in January when they toured down here, and I'm hoping they come back over soon. Was a great show too, wish I'd gone to the second brissy show also.

~Mr Brownstone~

I'm pretty sure the store I got Sometimes Things Just Disappear from has The Redder the Better too, I'll get that asap. Yeah I saw them when they came out here, but they played in some rehearsal room which got really hot really quickly lol and they had to finish the set after like 5 songs. I hope they come back before the end of the year, if not for Soundwave.

Haha I want at least ONE in the near future. Tbh I loved The Redder The Better but I couldnt get into STJD

12shinn21
10-19-2010, 09:04 PM
Haha well they're cheap enough from b9, plus the exchange rate is rulin' at the moment so I can't imagine it'd be more than 20-25 bucks for one shipped.

TRTB is just perfect (as is the demo), and STJD has like two weak tracks in my opinion. And for me, like half of Chasing Hamburg is pretty average.

Sounds very much like Brisbane Soundwave, and I was also on the barrier :D. Not like it was a hard spot to get, unfortunately. Yeah we got Parking Lot and Resent and Resistance :P. Would've been so good to see Most Miserable Life again, though.

brad5992

Yeah the small crowd was to be expected, especially since they were playing at the same time as Maiden who were the main headliner/draw card of the festival. I really wanted to hear Most Miserable Life but the two TRTB songs we got were still awesome.

12shinn21
03-05-2011, 08:45 AM
Yeah, I preferred it that way. But felt a bit bad for them at the same time, the two crowds for the previous bands were nuts. It would have been way cool for them to play it. But I've totally already seen it anyway :p: They played everything bar His Devotee off of TRTB first time I saw them :)

Yeah Most Miserable Life would've been awesome, it pretty much sums up how I felt after Soundwave, my ears and throat were f*cked :p: They played Drifting Thing at the rehearsal room gig a year back, Jimmy was in the crowd without a mic, that ruled.
Were you by any chance the curly/long haired dude? :p: There was one other guy on the barrier who knew every word.

Hopeless rule! Maybe another guy, I was pretty much in front of Jimmy with a grey PBC shirt, kinda got pushed back by some huge dude halfway through though. They really deserved a better crowd/response, but I still loved every minute of it.

I wrote an article detailing the new album with excerpts from an interview with the vocalist done by AP. Album is gonna be out late summer/early fall, and there's a lot of influence from 90s emo like Rites of Spring and early Jimmy Eat World, at least in the vocals. Also included the new album title and upcoming US/European tour dates.

Of course, UG rejected it and instead decided to post about Dave Mustaine's "black magic" troubles for the thousandth time.

I wouldn't call listening to bands on the AP Tour and then a little bit of hardcore / metalcore having a wide taste in music. I'm just fucking with you though, I don't care what you listen to.

New album is out on September 13th. New album will apparently be more chorus heavy. I'm stoked for it, I'm tipping it to be a contender for AOTY for me. Then I shall lose my shit over the (hopefully) accompanying Australian tour.

Also, I dunno if it's just me but are pretty much ALL PBC shirts pretty average? Great band, average merch.

~Mr Brownstone~
07-01-2011, 09:26 AM
I agree the new shirts are average, but a lot of the old ones were awesome. I picked up an 'All my friends are living saints' shirt recently and it's sick.

Yeah sounds like it'll be more in the vein of STJD which is awesome. If I'm 18 by the time they tour here, I might try and do all the east coast dates.

12shinn21
07-01-2011, 09:57 AM
I'm apprehensive towards the new album, but I'll see how it ges when I hear it.

And yeah, a lot of the designs on b9 for these guys are pretty ordinary. I own a few PBC shirts which I really like, and a few others which I only wear around the house these days haha. Good ones - Chasing Hamburg cover, Living Saints in grey, PBR ripoff baseball tee and the limited TRTB grey shirt.

I've always wanted to do that, follow a band around on tour. Not in a creepy way, but I've travelled very little so it'd be a good excuse. I only got to see them at Soundwave but I can't imagine it'd really get old.

As for the shirts, I'll admit I am mainly basing this off the ones on the B9 store. I shall have to search a bit more to find cooler ones.

Shinn, why apprehensive? I heard Chasing Hamburg before any of their other albums so it may be different for me but I still think they had a pretty good sound on it.

12shinn21
07-01-2011, 10:45 AM
I'm apprehensive because I love their two EPs, and both of their full lengths (Chasing in particular) have taken strides away from that sound. So with the same sort of production (I assume) and more 'chorus heavy' songs it isn't really shaping up to be something I'm looking forward to. Plus the album title - pretty bad. I really hope it turns out well though, 'cause I do love this band.

Amuro Jay
07-01-2011, 07:37 PM
I enjoyed Chasing Hamburg :/ I'll admit that it was nothing like TRTB though.

Anyway. In an interview they said that they'd be channeling 90s emo, at least in terms of vocal melodies and such. So it'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

New album is a great progression. Not as poppy as some of the tracks on Chasing Hamburg but still some great melodic hardcore moments.

Pawner, My Best Days, Religion on the Radio and 3-4 Tango are absolutely class.

How does the new record stack up to their older ones?

Adam_Harrison9
09-22-2011, 06:31 PM
I prefer this newest one to chasing hamburg and in my opinion it's on a par with STJD.

What I like about the new one is that Jimmy's vocals are an improvement and have a better range. There are less lead guitar riffs however but the song structures are a lot more fluent. Overall, it's a more consistent record than the other two. Each song is of a similar standard. On Chasing Hamburg I found I enjoyed a select few tracks more than others, whereas this has no particularly weak moments.

For some reason I don't think the lyrics are as good as on the other two records but some song's lyrics have grown on me...

Listening nyar. Liking this so far. The first song's intro riff has a cool sludge sorta vibe to it and it transitions nicely into the verse. Diggin' this. Don't think it's particularly revolutionary, but no one said it had to be, and I can definitely see myself listening to these guys.
