So Thin Lizzy anyone? I love them, they're my favourite band of all time. I have the albums: Geatest Hits, Live and Dangerous, Whiskey In The Jar and Still Dangerous. Hoping to get more when I get the cash. Anybody else a Thin Lizzy Fan? (lolucwutididthar?)

One of the most talented, exciting, wild and proud-to-be-Irish bands ever!! (Even though the celebrated line-up had an American and Scot in it, but they're still Irish) Phil Lynott is the epitome of rock n roll, and one of the best vocalists in hard rock. PERIOD!
Jailbreak is one of the best albums of the seventies

When I was younger I never paid them much attention. I thought the "boys are back" was indicative of the music they did. Then I saw a concert of them on VH1 classic and got hooked. They have such a great groove. Their riffs aren't super hard to play, but man keeping the right rythm can be tough.

Yeah "The Boys Are Back" is pretty much their only fully known song except for maybe "Jailbreak" but tbh thats my least favourite song by them.

Incredible INCREDIBLE band!!! I absolutely love their twin lead guitars and their riffs and Phil, god everything about them rocks! My favorite song right now is probably dancing in the moonlight. I also love the drums in bad reputation and The Rocker has to have one of the greatest solos ever recorded.

They had some amazing guitar players. Live and Dangerous is a stone cold classic. Any band with two guitars should give them a serious listen. And...the songs! All that soloing wouldn't have meant as much unless there weren't great tunes.
Cowboy Song may be the best song EVER!

Thin Lizzy is definately one of my favourite bands. I have all their albums and a lot of live DVDs as well. If I recall correctly, Thin Lizzy was actually the band that got me into classic rock at all, so I guess I owe them :p: I also thoroughly enjoy AC/DC and The Who, but Thin Lizzy will always be a bit more special to me.

I can't drive anywhere more than an hour away without playing some Thin Lizzy.

It's just not possible. Live and Dangerous is my favorite. Though it kinda starts to drag a bit after "Cowboy Song."

I'm interested in the new live album cuz apparently it's actually, you know, live. :p:

its kind of amazing how heavy they were so early on, I consider them the heaviest band of the 70s

my favorite song is "running back to you" or its just called "runnin back" ive seen it as both lol, but its one of their softer ones, but its really ****in catchy

They were versatile.

They could blow yer mind with riffage and then take it down and do some pop.

They have tunes for all occasions.

Lizzy were a phenomenal live band and, in Phil Lynott, had one of the best frontmen. I always thought that they were better live than on vinyl although they managed to put out some great records. Black Rose (with Gary Moore) is great as is most of the stuff from Brian Robertson's days.

I love jailbreak, I can listen to that song 20 times over and over again and it never gets old. The groove of that song is just sick. I loved the placement of it in the movie Detroit Rock City. I was in a bookstore like a year ago that also happened to sell vinyls. So i was looking through there, and it was like i found the holy grail itself. There was Thin Lizzy- Live and Dangerous the 2 record set. The outrage was that it was only $1 but i wasn't complaining when it came to buying it. Now if only i could get the turn table at my house to work.

Just saw Thin Lizzy yesterday. I was expecting a good show, but what I saw was beyond words. Scott Gorham really struck gold when he found Ricky Warwick. Easily the best gig I've ever been to. Only sad thing was that the venue was tiny and there were only 200-300 people there.

I'd be pretty stoked to see a band like Thin Lizzy in a venue like that... I'm sure there was a lot more energy than in an arena.

^^ Don't get me wrong. It was a great gig, but there were 200-300 people in a venue that holds 900.. So it looked a little empty. Still a great show though.

I have the Philly '79 bootleg that "Still Dangerous" and Live and Dangerous" was made from, and there's not much difference - some bad notes cleaned up, the vocals redone (I think), but it's pretty close.

I got into Lizzy when I was living in the UK in the late 70's, and got to see them with Gary on the Black Rose tour at the Hammersmith Odeon. Amazing, fantastic show! They had an energy live that tape can't capture, and Gary was bouncing all over the stage. Been a fanatic ever since, I love all of their albums, and my favorite changes from time to time. Right now I'm deep into Fighting, and tabbing the whole thing - I'm stuck on a few chords in "Spirit Slips Away", but I have the guts of the whole album done, and about half of the solos. I'll post them when I'm done. Next, Johnny The Fox, or Nightlife. (Thank god for Transpose!, the best software ever!)

My dad has all their albums, so I've gotten a pretty decent exposure to their stuff. The one thing that saddens me is that I'll never get to see them play live, because they were a fantastic band.

Scott Gorham era was the best, guitarwise though, imo.

Scott Gorham is actually the second guitarist in Thin Lizzy to appear on a studio record. The first three albums were recorded by Eric Bell. But mind you Thin Lizzy started sounding like Thin Lizzy only after Gorham and Robbo came around. The only songs they play from the days of Eric Bell are Whiskey in the jar and the rocker.

Also I think Vivian has left the band. When I saw them a few weeks ago they had Richard Fortus on guitar.
