I've been trying to diversify my taste a lot recently, and I've realized that I only have a few artists who have women singers. I was just lurking and figured I'd join and ask.

I can only name a few I really enjoy, but am up for any suggestions. I like Tegan & Sara, Joanna Newsom, and Ani DiFranco. It doesn't really matter what genre they are, but I'd prefer folky stuff if possible. Anything that sounds similar to Bob Dylan maybe?

not folky, and grace slick shared the vocals with a guy, but they're quite good.
for bob dylan, check out the album "desire". it's got some great female backing vocals.
i s'pose you could always try joan baez too.

also, if yer into country-ish stuff, check out emmylou harris.

I'll check out the rest in a bit. Probably tomorrow.

Thanks for the quick responses.

I doubt this is what you are looking for, but Hole has a (mentally insane) female singer, and they are decent.

If you like Evanescence check out Lacuna Coil. ("Our Truth" is a good song)

And if you like Paramore, try Versaemerge (vocally they're very similar). (Whisperer, The Authors). And their old stuff is Post-Hardcore I believe, it had quite a bit of screaming, unlike their current stuff.

Eyes Set to Kill? More Metalcore; although the girl only does the clean vocals. (Reach, Heights)

6th Awakening, Melo Death I guess. (Teir)

And The Agonist needs another mention, they're amazing.

Ah, yes. Mazzy Star... Hope Sandoval (The lead singer) is something else. Check out the song 'Fade Into You'... Maybe you've heard it before?
