What is it?
Love it? Disappointed with it? Think some things could've been better? Tell us here!

My latest album:

Déjà Voodoo - Gov't Mule

05-08-2009, 01:22 AM
saaaaaamme....... weird

05-08-2009, 01:25 AM
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime

Not a bad album, the concept of it seems pretty good,
some of the songs have a same sort of feel but at the same time some riffs are kick ass

obviously a classic album and i'd agree

05-08-2009, 01:28 AM
The Gathering - The West Pole
I got it imported from the Netherlands :)

Im yet to listen to it though, its supposed to be a "birthday present".

I have high hopes for it, but im not sure if the new singer can live up to Anneke Van Giersbergen's awesomeness.

05-08-2009, 10:26 AM
Got this last's sick as **** to say the least. Probably my favorite 2009 album I've heard so far this year

Also downloaded this last night, but haven't listened to it yet. I used to love Green Day in high school, I haven't really listened to them at all in the past couple years but I figured I'd still check out their new album.

05-08-2009, 11:08 AM
^chances are its gonna suck, IMO. the last album i got was Dinosaur Jr.'s your're living all over me. great album. i enjoy it.

05-08-2009, 04:01 PM
Versailles - Noble.

Becoming one of my favourite albums. Never been much of a fan of power/symphonic metal before. This album changed that.

05-09-2009, 10:05 PM
John Barleycorn Must Die by Traffic

05-09-2009, 10:48 PM
Kona Gold by Pepper. It's incredible, it's a live show from Boulder, CO.

05-09-2009, 11:18 PM
The Fall of Troy's Manipulator

Pretty bad, especially compared to their Ghostship EP.

05-09-2009, 11:27 PM
Souvenirs d'un autre monde by Alcest

I love it. It's got this haunting, ethereal sound that's completely unlike anything else ever. It doesn't really matter that I can't understand the lyrics since they're in French because the music is just so amazing.

05-09-2009, 11:56 PM
Good choice aig.

Marc Ford and the Neptune Blues Club. Fantastic album, Marc Ford needs to always have a harp player with him, just some down and dirty blues

05-10-2009, 01:01 AM
Metallica - Death Magnetic even though it's been out for awhile i've only just recieved my own copy. A little down with their latest offering, but that may be because i'm still such a huge fan of their older stuff. But there are some killer licks i'd still like to get my hands on.

05-10-2009, 06:39 AM

And it's come to be one of the greatest albums i've ever heard.

I've also got 2 albums that should be delivered any day now which are:

Cryptomnesia - El Grupo Nuevo de Omar Rodriguez-Lopez
There's No 666 in Outer Space - Hella

Pretty excited for them!

Glad is my favorite instrumental track of all-time

For me, these two:

05-15-2009, 06:47 PM
I jus recently got Mastodon's Crack the Skye, which is pretty great, cept a couple tracks I'm not really in love with
And Fortress by Protest the Hero, which I really overall enjoy, except the vocals at parts.Cryptomnesia - El Grupo Nuevo de Omar Rodriguez-Lopez
There's No 666 in Outer Space - Hella

Pretty excited for them!If I could be assed to order online, those would be my next purchases. :D

I've listened to the Cryptomnesia leak, and I'm seriously digging Half Kleptos the hardest.

05-29-2009, 10:37 PM

I've been getting a lot of Gov't Mule albums lately. They have some great music.

05-30-2009, 02:39 AM
Last ones I bought were Together Through Life by Dylan and The Empyrean by Frusciante. The last ones acquired would be Between Nothingness and Eternity by Mahavishnu Orchestra, Crack The Skye by Mastodon, and A Farewell To Kings by Rush, all given to me by a friend.

05-30-2009, 04:00 AM
Blues at his best

05-30-2009, 08:38 AM
^Nice man, I was listening to that earlier this week.

Sean Costello 's self-titled album. Blues with some jazz/soul vibes, and a voice like 'michael buble meets howlin wolf' according to another ug'er. Good stuff

05-30-2009, 12:53 PM
Last album I got was Graham Coxon - The Spinning Top.

Lovely album, acoustic feel, but still got lots of Coxon's trade mark rawky guitar in... Making me wanna learn more fingerstyle guitar...

05-30-2009, 11:05 PM
Marilyn Manson: High End Of Low. Good Album it is too, Also got, Eminem: Relapse, and Green Day: 21st Century Breakdown.

06-10-2009, 11:18 PM
It was my dad's album and he let me have it. OUTSTANDING album! Probably my favorite Little Feat album.

06-11-2009, 01:22 AM
Familiar Espionage by Algernon, Folk Tales by Eastern Blok, and In The Absence of Truth by Isis. All of them excellent albums.

06-11-2009, 05:58 AM
The Shins - Oh Inverted World.
Tom Waits - Bone Machine

2 for £10 Hmv...thank you very much.

06-11-2009, 02:38 PM
Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings and Food

06-11-2009, 03:47 PM
Last two albums I got where:
Minor threats complete discography. Bit of a dissapointment really. Pretty generic and bland compared to fugazi. world of tomorrow by Komputer. A pretty good album IMO. Some parts are pretty difficult to listen to because of the repition. Others however benefit greatly most notably 'Bill gates'. Probably not for anyone who doesn't already like electronic music.

06-11-2009, 05:02 PM
Blues at his best

that looks suspiciously like the Kennedy Assassination lol

06-12-2009, 09:39 PM

Just got Dark Side of the moon (yes yes I know, it took me long enough, I've listened to it a ton, but, you know, just never had it)
Also order Led Zeppelin IV (read other comment in parenthesis :P) and Ten by Pearl Jam. Really want the new K'naan album though, finally some good new rap...

06-13-2009, 12:09 AM
I just got the High End of Low by Marilyn Manson and it freakin rocks
i also recently got Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown

06-13-2009, 12:10 AM

06-13-2009, 01:56 AM
The Fall of Troy's Manipulator

Pretty bad, especially compared to their Ghostship EP.
Same here! I can't listen to it. It's just hard to.

06-13-2009, 02:51 AM
Last I bought was the new Green Day album. It was ok. Not great, but not a total disappointment.

Last album I downloaded was The Fame by Lady GaGa. Great album.

06-13-2009, 02:55 AM

Great variety in this album, bit of sludge, death, thrash...all combining to kick ass. Need more of a listen but so far so good.

06-13-2009, 12:35 PM
The Fall of Troy's Manipulator

Pretty bad, especially compared to their Ghostship EP.
what the heck? Manipulator is some of their best work to date. Listen to dark trail, ex-creations and ssh! if you're quiet i'll show you a dinosaur, the screams, lyrics and guitar playing are immense.
Can't wait for their newalbum :D

The last album i got was Falling into Infinity by Dream Theater. Amazingly mellow at times and really catchy. :)

06-13-2009, 10:25 PM
Just picked up the pearl jam album vitalogy, pretty good stuff.

06-16-2009, 04:13 AM

07-12-2009, 11:24 PM
Galneryus- Advance to the Fall

Pretty freaking good power metal. So glad I found out about these guys, they've been pretty inspirational to my guitar playing for some reason. They remind me of Stratovarius, but a lot better.

07-12-2009, 11:48 PM

07-12-2009, 11:52 PM

07-24-2009, 01:26 PM
Just got Son Volt's American Central Dust, James McMurtry's Where'd You Hide the Body, and I took a chance and grabbed The Dave Mathews Band's Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King.

I've known the McMurtry album for years and just wanted my own copy, but the other two are new. I love Son Volt, they're one of my favorite bands. Their new album is good. As has been written in a number of reviews, Jay Farrar took the band back to the sound of their early stuff. As for DMB, their lack of an electric guitar in a lead role kept me from getting into them much. That's not to say that I didn't like them, I've seen them live, but I wasn't interested in buying any of their stuff. Now that Tim Reynolds is more involved, my electric lead woes have been fixed. It's a pretty good album.

Oh, and aig, Gov't Mule's new album is comin' in September!

07-24-2009, 05:45 PM
Carver City by cKy.
I love it but IDR will ALWAYS be their best album, and I don't care what anybody says about it.

And as for an album that has been around for a really long time but just bought this week,
Framing Armaggeddon, Something Wicked pt. 1 by Iced Earth.
I love it too but its not as good as the original Something Wicked This Way Comes

Well, I said I wouldn't buy another cd until I listened to the new ones I bought, but I caved for a good reason though.
My first Who album, I'm sixteen, I should be ashamed. 10/10 only 5 bucks 10/10 Only 8 bucks for a double cd and it works fine.

13 bucks for 53 songs, that's like 24 cents a song.

12-13-2009, 10:00 AM
Picked up "The Chair In The Doorway" by Living Colour and "Strange Cousins From The West" by Clutch about a week ago.

The Living Colour CD was amazing, a very pleasant surprise. They've produced a lot of excellent music before, but they've always been hit-or-miss. They couldn't keep their experimentalism and technical stuff in their pants until now. But this CD consistently balances creativity with listenability. VERY good.

The Clutch CD is a little dull compared to past stuff, but it's decent background music. No stinkers here, either.

A Place To Bury Strangers - Exploding Head.

Sweet, how is it?

12-28-2009, 09:30 PM
Sweet, how is it?
I'll review it in the next couple of days.
It isn't a huge step forward, but since their self-titled was really just a collection of remastered old demos, I try my best to see this as their first real effort. When you look at it that way, it's actually a really impressive album. While their first sounded very thin at time (The Falling Sun excluded), "Exploding Head" has layers upon layers of sound and a much more shoegaze-oriented production.

Blood Brothers - Burn Piano Island, Burn
Blood Brothers - Crimes
Slowdive - Just For A Day

I just picked up Gilby Clarke's first solo album Pawnshop Guitars...can't believe this dude isn't a huge star...Every song has it's own feel...One song sounds like a straight off Hard Rock anthem, then the next is as bluesy as a SVR's an awesome album...worth every penny

My friend works for my university newspaper and they were doing some fundraisers. One involved selling used cds that people donated to them.

I bought that one for $1.

Oh, and it's a pretty good album.

Omar Rodriguez Lopez's Solar Gambling 10/10.

Both on Vinyl.

04-23-2010, 11:38 PM
Man I can't imagine how great Monoliths & Dimensons would be on vinyl. Already pretty devastating on CD.

Yeah, amazing.

04-25-2010, 05:39 PM
I bought Porgy and Bess (miles davis) today along with Heliocentric Worlds vol.2(sun ra). I like the former quite a bit, and the latter is meh so far. Haven't listened to a ton though.

04-26-2010, 12:19 PM
Is Monoliths and Dimensions worth getting? I'm not really into 'metal' but it seems kinda cool.

You have to listen to it with an open mind, because if you don't you'll think it is just noise. If you don't have anything you need to buy I'd say take the chance on it.

04-27-2010, 10:22 AM
The last album i bought was lsat month at the local record was REO Speedwagon "Good Trouble" album

I've recently acquired:

Slash's "R&FN'R" - haven't heard it yet, loved the song "By The Sword".
Guns N' Roses' "Appetite For Destruction" - haven't heard it yet, but i know the 4 album singles, and i like them.

As far as the compilations go, i've known all of the bands for years, but i didn't have a complete album by any of them (except for Patti Smith's "Twelve", the 2007 covers album).
I've only heard the Jefferson Airplane one so far, and i really enjoyed it.

05-02-2010, 11:33 AM
Omar Rodriguez Lopez and John Frusciante

I'm listening to it right now, it's pretty good.

05-05-2010, 09:45 AM

lol what do you think of that Can album? i got that awhile ago

06-27-2010, 03:22 PM
Frank Turner's Love, Ire & Song. My god I can't fault it, the songs on the 2nd half of the album aren't as good as the 1st half but they are still good songs, very good songs. It's the best album I've heard in that genre in my opinion.

06-27-2010, 03:30 PM

I really dig it!
My friend's been really into Krautrock lately, so I've been jamming to a lot of it with him (I think he has like six Can albums now, hehe), so I'd listened to Tago Mago several times before I finally acquired it.

Quite possibly the most destructive album i've ever heard. Chances are, if you listen to this album, a lethal release of tears and regret will overwhelm you.

NEW Stone Temple Pilot Album.

07-25-2010, 01:55 PM
Spent $100 on music for my birthday yesterday, my birthday was last week but that's alright. Anyway, here's what I got:

Godspeed You! Black Emperor- Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Vinyl. 10/10
This is what I consider the perfect album, an album I would love to make. I highly recommend this album to everybody who loves music in general. I think metal heads would like it, indie hipster kids like it and everybody in between should like.

The Flaming Lips- Dark Side Vinyl & CD. 9.5/10
The Flaming Lips make this classic album their own, not many artists have the balls to take on such a well known and well loved album. I loved how the threw in a cd with the vinyl as well.

Jesu- Jesu CD. 9.5/10
I was recommended this band from one of my friends and it's what I've been looking for in a metal band. I recommend it.

The Flaming Lips- Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots CD. 8.5/10
Good album for hanging out or lounging around. You really don't have to think, just listen, and I like that. I need to listen to it again though.

Omar Rodriguez Lopez- Xenophanes CD. 8/10
It's got some great grooves, but I have to really pay attention to it. Also it's in spainish for anybody who's interested in it.

Crystal Castles- II CD. 8/10
Hit or miss for this one, but I really like the hits and the misses are kind of genric electronica stuff. Really need to listen to it again though, missed the last few tracks on it.

Omar Rodriguez Lopez- A Manuel Dexterity CD. 7/10
It's a movie sountrack so I wasn't expecting much, but it's decent.

Pavement- Slanted and Enchanted. 6.5-7/10
It's been on my list for quite a while and the deluxe edition was only ten bucks, so I figured why not. It had some decent enough songs, some I fell in love with, but most are kind of meh. I think this is one of the most overhyped albums of all time. I don't know why it's on most people's top ten albums of the 90s. I can think of ten just from '91 better then this.

Also, if your ever in Nashville check out Grimeys, I love that place.

07-25-2010, 04:58 PM
