Hey

I would like to get a set of new pickups for my MIM stratocaster, and I am sure I would like to get noiseless single coils.

But which ones do you think are the best? I just want to be able to get any tone from them, apart from a heavy metal tone or anything with more gain.

I would like them to handle fairly hi-gain stuff though still.

Thanks, any help will be appreciated. :)

I've heard good things about the Lace Sensor pickups, no first hand experience though. Try looking into them.

I'd look into an EMG SA set if you want something that sounds like a single coil, is noiseless and can handle high amounts of gain well. Note that they have more low end compared to passive single coils, so the tone is a bit different.

I've got a set of Fender Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pups in my Strat (came stock with them). Dead quiet and don't sound bad, but won't handle any more than classic rock without losing too much clarity.

those Dimarzio Area 58/61's are supposed to be something else, they sound like they can take a bit of gain too

It's generally considered that Lace sensor, and the Dimarzio Area set (Any should do) are around the best.

Lace Sensors. Pete Townshend had a set in his strat when I saw him, and his tone kicked absolute ass.

out of what i've tried (which isn't all that much), i'd say either dimarzio virtual vintage or EMG SA as quail mentioned. Neither sounds exactly like a "true" single coil, but they're close, and closer than lots of the others I've tried. Bear in mind that neither will be great value in the UK, but, as far as i'm aware, none of the UK-based pickup winders make noiseless single coils, so if you're certain you want noiseless, you have to go for the expensive imported pickups...

Fender Hot Noiseless
Lace Sensors (although ugly IMO)

Yeah that's what I was thinking, they might sound good, but their ugliness overcomes that unfortunately. And I want my guitar to look good too!

I think you'll like the Fender Vintage noiseless. They will match the vintage appearance and tone of your Strat.
Or look at the Fender Hot noiseless pickups. They are a bit beefier sounding than the vintage and don't have the staggared pole pieces.

Ok, I think the Hot Noiseless pickups will be better for me, as I also want to be able to get more modern tones aswell, do you think this is the right decision?

the Suhr noiseless system IMO. Has the dummy coil in back so it stops noise like a humbucker, but still has that true single coil tone.
