States with the best hardcore bands:

My vote would go to Massachusetts because they got The Acacia Strain, As I Lay Dying, All That Remains, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, Diecast.

Washington D.C. (although it's technically not a state)

I thought PA had an excellent scene? PA stands for Pennsylvania, right?

After reading the first post I thought this thread was too stupid for me to post in. My head is going to explode.

I mean, how do you say Mass is the best hardcore state, and not mention Converge, or any of the other GOOD, respected hardcore bands to come out of there.

Anyway, I'm going with NY, just 'cuz.

Massachusetts is correct, but not for the reasons OP posted.

Central PA has a great scene right now. There's a thread somewhere about Doylestown hardcore. Good shit.

This is what I thought. Handbanana brings up the Doylestown scene whenever he can, and rightfully so, that town has some amazing bands coming out of it. PA also produced Kid Dynamite, something that will forever endear it for me.

Also, I would like to put my vote towards California, the Bay area of San Fransisco in particular.

From what I can tell, MA,, MD, and PA have the best scenes on the east coast. I'm not too sure about west but I know CA has a good scene.

yah youre right, i was thinking of all the early hardcore bands from there

handbanana

in all honestly i would say the best scenes at the moment are obviously PA(Doto + Wilkes-Barre, while their are plenty of good bands from philly), Obviously New York has so many good bands, Massachussettes always seems to be good also (so many good boston bands), MD(id say baltimore is getting better, being notorious for being a city full of bad bands, they are starting to come out with a lot more good bands to even out the pallette). Cali will always have cool bands.

And my big wildcard scene is definately Richmond, VA. Lots of good stuff coming out their lately, Bracewar, Naysayer.... etc.
