ok so in the metalcore and small amount of hardcore i listen to

i hear alot of what i think is called ''compression'' bass
as in those huge bass boosts when breakdowns start etc

how are they done?
i always thought the bassists pushed a pedal, and then he would hit the next note and it would do it.

but my mate went to see the red shore the other night, and the drummer apparently hit an electronic pad and thats how i guess its done?


i dont understand!
and correct me on the name of it...

compression pedal?

bass drops. the drummer uses a pad such as the roland 808 to trigger the sampled bass drop

yeah but is it always done by the drummer with a sample?

or does the bassist normally do it in most bands?

but i googled ''bass drop'' and found out everything i needed to know..

Yep, the drummer has a pad. If you had over to Guitar Center, they usually have pads set up next to the electronic drum set. They're so ****ing fun....=
