Oh, God... Ska isn't the greatest genre of music, but it doesn't deserve that...

Also, what's up with the rapping at the end? Ironic, "funny" rapping hasn't been cool since 2002. And it really wasn't cool then either.

And is it necessarily a bad thing if it increases the ska fan base? The worst case scenario is that metal heads start considering ska stupid disney music. And even then they're still metal heads.

Iluvpowerchords
07-12-2009, 10:03 PM
Yeah I spent most of the 90's pooping and crying.

I watched the 1999 Home Run Derby the other day and I couldn't believe that it had occurred in my lifetime.

It seemed ancient and recent all at once.

And it was funny to see Sammy and Big Mac lovin' life and soakin' up cheers.

That's sickening.

And shred????

A) No one says "Let's shred"
B) Shred =/= Ska

I also like how they threw out the Red Hot Chili Peppers name, so that we might accidentally think the cast has a good taste in music.

SKAtastic7770
07-13-2009, 10:23 PM
I want to add to this thread, that ska was dead before this trailer came out. I went to a ska fest with local bands the other day and realized, no one in the scene remembers or appreciates their roots. Ska bands have become punk bands with vague ska influences. Horns do not make ska. Offbeat guitar does not make ska. There are a billion more nuances being lost in today's interpretation of a nearly 50 year old genre. The Specials had it right when they only did what Prince Buster and Desmond Dekker would do, with tasteful originality. Ska Is Dead...

RockThe40oz

I wonder how much they payed Bowie to take part in this crappy movie... but it just doesn't make sense. Hes never been the type to play in a bad movie, no matter what they are paying him, and I doubt they are paying him a lot. Kids these days would want to go see this movie because of Vanessa Hudgens, not because of David Bowie. :(

edit: I looked it up, David Bowie just makes a cameo appearance in the film.
