noticed that the bb thread and freddie thread, had some opinions on who the most talented/your favorite king is, thought i'd put a poll up on it.

it's BB for me. saw him in concert, and hes like 10x better than cd...which is saying something.

BB FOr the win. Hes Loaded full of cash and still does everything on his own. I had a friend who was in a music shop and bb came by * He was playing in branson* BB still buys his own strings and puts them on lucielle himself

B.B used to be great in the 60s.

Listen to Live At The Regal, and The Blues Is King.

He's really let himself go, though.

Love Freddie, It's my favorite. But I also love BB and Albert, I mean, in that level it's just a matter of taste

Guitar-wise I had to go with albert because of his great distinctive style.

honestly can't decide.. I prefer B.B's tone because of his sick vibrato, Freddie King has the best chops IMO, and Albert King has such a viscous attack that pretty much NEVER lets up..

though i love albert, B.B.'s Tone helped him win this hard debate

freddie king!!!!

he's where clapton stole all his licks and his tone from godamnit!
albert and B.B's playing has just never interested me that much, except for a bit of early B.B

Haven't heard enough of Albert yet but from what I have I reckon BB gets it.

I think that they're 3 terrific guitarist but the field where, IMHO, Freddie gets advantage of the other kings, is singing. He could make you cry by only singing if he wanted to

Albert King is my favourite. Not just my favourite out of the three Kings, my favourite guitarist of all time. (Just look at my signature) He's the guy who got me into the blues. I'm not sure how to explain it, but I feel like a badass when I listen to Albert soloing. The same feeling I get when I listen to ZZ Top or Motorhead. I'm also a big BB King fan, but I'm honelstly not to familliar with Freddie King's work.

I love them all and it was tough to choose but I went with Albert, B.B. and Freddie (actually haven't heard much Freddie but what I have heard is good) are great but I just love the music Albert makes, plus when you learn how he played, Upside down and with strange tunings, it gives you more respect for his musicianship.

Gotta say Albert. I mean, I love all three, but Albert's playing is just so fluid and lyrical. The whole "Less is More" thing is something that I love listening to. His bends are beautiful and powerful, not just ornamentation like the others use them for, but really part of the emotion of the piece.

B.B in close second,...but younger B.B...I saw him live recently, and really I was sort of surprised at how repetitive his licks were, and how little he actually played compared to how much he talked about stuff. He was still good, but it was a joint show with Buddy Guy, and with Buddy's fun and rowdy crowd pleasin' show, BB King's set just sort of paled in comparison.

But yeah, long tangent aside: Albert.

The Thing about this thread is that you cannot easily pick one, I mean, Freddie, Albert and BB were surnamed literally speaking :D
