Meshuggah does Gb/F#. That's about as low as I know of. Deftones did G in their most recent release.

I'm assuming you mean below standard since you said drop F.

Either way..that sounds kind of silly.

drop F would be retarded...you need the heaviest string gauge possible and even then it would feel like playing with yarn

there's a drop-f? Geez, how many strings do you need for that?

for a brootal band, i recommend not playing with any strings at all. just keep punching the pickups for that extra heavy chugs.

Meshuggah are in F standard, not Drop F.
I don't know of ANY bands who play in Drop F.
And I only know of one band in F standard.

Suicide Silence used 8's on their new album.

Didnt improve them one iota.

When you get that low, you need to be using either an 8/7 string, and they need to be of a greater scale length to compensate.

My band plays in Drop G, and we use 7 strings with 27 inch scale length. Its the only way it will work.

The Acacia Strain beg to differ.

Ok, fair enough it is possible. But long scale makes it much easier.
