I saw Double Dagger about a year ago. I didn't know any of their stuff, but the show was a lot of fun. I have one of their albums but I barely listen to it.

Ceremony and Amen (a little different than most hardcore). Gallows' new album, Grey Britain, is very reminiscent of 80's hardcore, but with some interesting touches, like symphonic elements and an acoustic track.

Shameless self-promotion time: I'm in one. Click Deranged Youth in our signature.

By no means new but Project X or Dag Nasty, Viva Hate is cool (idk bout if their considered hard core), Paint It Black, Unseen(more street), Cloak and Dagger if you could find it. ill post shortly after my hardcore brain fart ends.

Yes, I'm from Manchester. My band is trying to get a hardcore punk scene started here, but its proving quite difficult, becuase there are no other bands to assist us. Not even any thrash metal bands, or something else similar. Its all screamo garbage and acoustic crap. But apparently the Dover/Portsmouth area has a decent scene, which includes Suburban Showdown.

If they wrote about that stuff that would make them a crappy metal band.

No, that would make them an awesome metal band. There's nothing wrong with power metal.

werty22
12-04-2009, 11:54 PM
I meant crappy by metal standards. Crust punk typically doesn't involve the level of musicianship that metal fans tend to like. Power metal is kinda gay but as long as it's not taken too seriously it's fine. Even a little bit enjoyable sometimes.

jakesmellspoo
12-05-2009, 01:06 AM
i've never been able to get into metal. the focus on what you call musicianship always comes off as elitism in the worst kind of way. plus, it might be me, a lot of the "shredding" sounds the same to me. what i look for in most music is lyrics, thats what gets me hooked.

We've been over this... the lyrics wouldn't make them a crappy metal band.. the lack of good musicianship would make them a crappy metal band. Crust bands get away with it because of their lyrical content.

I shouldn't even take the time to acknowledge you, but I'll elaborate anyway.

You think modern hardcore bands aren't "real hardcore" because they don't sound like '80s hardcore bands. Using this logic, The hardcore punk bands you like wouldn't be considered punk because they don't sound like '77 bands.

they're modern hardcore bands that have the old school hardcore edge to it. i'm saying that what most of the people nowadays consider hardcore has the "heavy" edge. two different sounds, and sure as hell two different styles. what has mutated into "hardcore" to me is metalcore.

Imperial Leather
The Domestics (www.facebook.com/TheDomestics)
Sudor

I guess Imperial Leather aren't that new but they're still great...as are the other two (although I don't have a link for Sudor or I.L.). Proper hardcore punk.
