Im looking for a minor chord progression for jazz. I have to write a song for school and am having a hard time because i am new to jazz. If you could also give me a brief explanation of what scales to use with what chords that would be great.

thanks

try this:

D9/C#7+9/C9 | Fm9/Abmaj7+11 | Dm9 | Cm9/Gm9||

it'll be a cool work out. (+) indicates that the following note is raised by a semi-tone. Not strictly a minor chord progression. But it has some nice flavorings there with some key changes to work around with.

a ii-v-i is an extremly common jazz progression, in A minor it would be Bm7(b5)-Em7-Am7

you should start with that.
