I've scoured the entire Hardcore forum, and have not found even a fairly recent thread.

Anyways, my second favourite band of all time - http://www.myspace.com/thechariot - And probably one of the best live acts in hardcore today.

They've been around a while, so it's not like promoting a recently formed band, therefore no detailed explanation is required.

The latest album, Wars and Rumours of Wars has recently been released, and its quite good, not a patch on previous albums though.

They are currently touring the US with Oh, Sleeper , We Came as Romans and Dead and Divine.

Saw them at a local music festival with 95 other bands, including August Burns Red, Oh, Sleeper, and Sleeping Giant. Best 25 bucks I ever spent.

They're absolutely rediculous live

why did the cops get called?

Fire marshalls basically having nothing better to do than kick people out of a sold out venue because we were over capacity. It was a "fire hazard" to have that many people in the place so they made everyone including all the bands and staff walk outside in the freezing cold and did a headcount to let people back in. About half the crowd was left outside with the police blocking the front entrance of the venue.

When the Chariot played they owned the cops by playing 2 shows. They played a show for the people who made it inside, then those people left, and the people outside were able to come in. I stayed in a corner like a ninja and got to see them both times.

You put "fire hazard" in quotes like you're implying that had a fire broken out, everyone past capacity wouldn't somehow muck up the exit and end with several people burning to death.

It's got to be a lot... I've seen them destroy some speaker cabs and drum set pieces before also. The one show I was at they stacked like 3 drums and danced around them as KC Wolf stood on top and beat the drums with his bass.

I think the problem is that you can't really compare the two stage shows. They are two completely different types.
DEP is more of the frantic psycho show. Violent and entertaining.
ATDI feels their music a little more. More flowing and carefree.

The thing I noticed about Dillinger's show when I went to see them is that there were a lot of times where they didn't move a lot for a minute or so, and they mainly moved when they were playing the chords where they could just fling their guitars around. Even the singer would just stay in one place for a while. The singer of ATDI is spazzing out the whole time, and Omar's off there in a corner flinging his guitar around while playing weirdass riffs...I can agree though, it's tough to compare the two.

But yeah I definitely found out that being up front is Way overrated. Apparently the bassist managed to get his bass up in the balcony, crowd-surfed, ran through the pit, and climbed up the pole at the side of the venue only to reunite with his bass up top and run around for a bit up there while playing.

I heard this from a friend and never actually got to see this because I was too busy getting squished up front in an uncomfortable, and unavoidable dude-fest. I'm claustrophobic enough as it is, but when I have to stand there like that (WAY too close to grinding on other dudes) The Chariot seems to mean a lot less to me.

Still a good show though. :haha:

^That's a really tough question actually. I really think they are all pretty damn good. I would say that my favorite is Long Live. That album is a masterpiece. Then their newest after that. If you like those two, then I figure you should appreciate them enough to like songs here and there from other albums. Still, one of my favorite songs of theirs is Forgive Me Nashville. Sounds good, thanks.

Sam I totally disagree! I think you should start with their first album "Everything is Alive......", back when they had all the original members. Maybe I just like this album best for nostalgic reasons, but I still think it's the best place to start. Although their music has changed somewhat over time, and I'm not really sure what your preferences are.

I more or less figured someone would say this, which isn't a bad thing persay, but I don't like that album as much because honestly a lot of it just sounds like early Norma Jean when Scogin was still a part of that group. I could listen to Bless The Marty and Kiss the Child if I really wanted that. It's an awesome album, but it doesn't have the same character that I love their newer stuff for.
Their newer stuff is a little more experimental and it has more groove which I love. I also love the current lineup (minus the absence of Wolf, bless his heart wherever he is). They are all awesome guys from when I've seen them.
What I do love about the first album is the fact that they just recorded that whole album live and unmastered. That is pretty much amazing

So... I know the Chariot plays in Drop B. But, how on Earth do they achieve that sound during the breakdown of David de la Hoz? Is it an octave pedal? Anybody know? I can't find anything on it.

They used an octave pedal on the song. Live, they just tune down. Their guitarist, Stevis, said that on his Tumblr somewhere.

How does one use an octave pedal to make it sound that low though?

Well, maybe octave pedal was the wrong phrase. I guess I meant a pitch shifter. They pitch shifted the guitars down like a step and a half. So it sounds lower and heavier. They tune to drop B and that breakdown is in G# or something like that.

I'm not as huge a fan, but I'm bummed too. Hopefully their farewell tour will come through here though.

Why are all the good chaotic hardcore / tr00 metalcore bands breaking up _

Probably because they've all been bands for like ten years.

I only got into this band earlier this year, but considering how spectacular One Wing was...this really depresses me.

Seriously considering going to the Atlanta show. Though I know I'd have to get tickets soon since it'll probably sell out fast.

The Chariot have been one of my favorite bands since around when they released The Fiancee, and this is definitely a huge disappointment. Plus the tour isn't coming to my area, which also sucks. It's a shame to see 'em go, for sure.
