Technical deathcore band (or as they like to call themselves Progressive-Melodic-Death-Metal-Beer-Core) from Westfield Mass. They do some pretty crazy stuff. Overall great band. I'm going to that show Nov. 18th in Rochester.

Yea that song is insane I would like to learn that song but G# is such a ridiculous tuning.

I learned it in G most of the way through. I may tune up to G# someday and post a video or somethin.

Don't they play in G standard

If so you could learn it in any standard tuning but not a drop tuning or it would be pretty hard.

I just realized I'm an idiot I have no clue about these crazy drop tuning. BTw what gauge yo use cause I got 2 of my guitars tuned to drop b and I use 12's what do you use like 14's :haha:

saxaxe

They play in drop G#. I use 13s on my geet.

Ok I'm seriously confused drop G is A standard with the lowest string dropped to G right. So this is what like drop Gb or G sharp # right, Idk it's to late for all this drop tuning I got a game tomorrow.

saxaxe

Yea, drop G is A standard with the lowest string dropped to G. Drop G# (Within The Ruins tuning) is Drop A# with the lowest string dropped to G#. One half step (one fret) higher than what I'm in. :p:

EDIT: ^Is that a bird sitting on you? :haha

EDIT2: Oh, I just read the description. Metal!

I was in drop G# just out of curiosity. Learning their songs is one reason I haven't tuned back up to A haha.

I don't know how I'm just finding out about this band now, and they're from MA, going to their show in Fall River for sure. How are they live?

Kinda switching the gears of the thread here, but how the hell do you tune that low? I have mac daddy strings on my guitar, but once I get to A it all turns to shit

NY_FootBall49
03-20-2010, 02:21 AM
Proper setup and EQing can make any tuning sound clear and defined. You can't just take a guitar you keep in like C Standard and drop it to G you have to get it set up. Longer scale or baritone guitars hold low tunings better also.

icedog41
03-20-2010, 10:10 AM
yea, my guitar isnt properly set us but i get by, i can play the whole creature album through without tuning if i get some heavy guages.

Dust_and_Guilt

I wouldn't consider them catchy. They have some cool ones here or there, but it's impossible for me to get ahold of them because they have no structure and no real melodies because they are constantly moving on to a new section every 7 seconds.

Listen to Ataxia off the new album. Thats a great instrumental. Everything flows together and it doesnt sound boring, there phrasing sounds so unique. They are pretty catchy though, for an example... Invade the whole ****ing song is catchy. So much groove and so much energy.
