This band is really really great.

They have catchy riffs and lyrics and I really wanna see them live as well. :D

Everything from vocals to guitar is solid and well put together...anyone agree?

I'm going to have to disagree..Vocals at least on the myspace would completely turn me off... Not soo much because of the screams but the non screams sound lame.

Gonna have to bump this. This band is great. I remember seeing them for the first time back in 2007 opening for Atreyu and they were pretty good. Then they came out with this newer album and it really is a great album. They're still kinda a local gem here in San Diego.

I actually love this band. I've been listening to The Greatest of All Lost Arts nonstop for like three months now and it isn't getting old. Pretty excited that they're writing a new one.

On a related note, are there any bands that sound similar to this one? Bands that are kind of on the line between post-hardcore and metalcore with somewhat intricate guitar parts? I've been looking for something similar for ages now and I keep getting Emarosa and Pierce the Veil recommended...

That's actually my favorite too, closely followed by Miami Nights. In fact there's not a bad song on the album; the only three I skip occasionally are The Ocean the Beast, The Ventriloquist, and Versus Versace because they're kinda meh. And I don't like anything Johnny Craig's in but for some reason I really like his guest vocals in Pueblo Cicada.

Well, today they posted a link to a 3-song EP with no warning or hype or anything. Doesn't really bode well for the future of the band =/

We've gone through how you don't particularly enjoy this genre of music many times before, dude. If I posted my opinion in every hardcore band thread that pops up everyone here would hate me, but I don't bother because I don't listen to hardcore and my opinion would therefore be irrelevant.

02-10-2011, 11:17 AM
I'm with Justin, the vast majority of threads posted here nowadays are on bands I have no interest in. So I do assume most things here will suck. It's a nice surprise when good stuff comes up (Ignominy is a good example). Same with that new guy who showed up (I don't remember his name) in PP&E and started posting in the skramz thread about how good The Black Heart Rebellion and other legit screamo bands are. That rarely happens, and it's cool when it does.

I've not listened to Lower Definition though I don't think. Judging by the people who seem to be most into them (Will + Andrew) I probably won't be a fan. No offense or anything, just you guys are more into the proggy/metal stuff than me. Nothing wrong with that, but..

I'll stop, you know what I'm saying. :p:

GodofCheesecake
02-10-2011, 04:17 PM
This is like nu-metalcore influenced post-hardcore. I don't know if you would be into that or not but I probably not I guess. It would probably depend on the vocals the most.

GodofCheesecake
02-10-2011, 06:41 PM
From what I've heard of Emarosa I haven't heard anything near the catchy leads that attract me to this band. They have a lot of, like, background leads that are either tapping or pulling off to open strings, I can never tell which, that I think fit the songs really well. And they use really unusual chords like in The Choreographer.

The Emarosa I've heard was really boring, but that could just be because I was too annoyed by Johnny Craig to hear anything else.
