You should post the demo link. I doubt it would violate forum rules since you're a member of the band so it's not like someone making a band's music available for free without their permission.

See dude, here's the thing, you can be cocky about the whole band not just the drummer. No one will think less of you if you're just like: "so yeah, the bass lines are pretty fucking ridiculous, amirite?" because it's totally warranted! Seriously guy, good job.

Haha, thanks dude, I appreciate it. Truth be told, like a real musician, I'm not entirely happy with my basslines, but they're pretty snazzy at the same time. Yeah, I said snazzy.

But yeah, Will's right. We're playing at the Brewery tomorrow night with The Classic Struggle and Acirema. The show has been moved, bands have dropped off, and advertising for it is non-existent, so if anyone near Raleigh reads this, please show up. It would make my week.

Well, I live over by Winston, so the Brewery doors always end up opening way too late for for me and I end up getting home at 5:00am which isn't fun when you've got class in a few hours heh. Plus the stage is too small. I remember when I played there my Drummers set didn't fit on the drum rise. They have some good bands there though. Hate was too strong of a word, I just don't like The Brewery that much.

I'm listening to you guys right now. Its pretty awesome! Dig the solo on "Love Saints Design" at 3:15ish.

Eh, I go to NC State so I can walk there. The distance isn't really an issue for me :p:

But I like it because you can get close to the band without being crushed by 500 people, and there's never any of that fence bullshit venues like Lincoln, Amos Southend, and Tremont have.

Not too familiar with the venues in Winston-Salem.

Oasis and Ziggys before it shut down. Ziggys was a shithole, but a cool shithole. I don't go to shows that much though. Its reopening downtown sometime I think?

Watch out for those speaker monitor things on the stage. My friend accidentally had one kicked off stage and it landed on his foot! Was priceless.

Sunn and Trace Elliot are better and cheaper. I have the latter, but i've been looking for some Sunn heads too.

Magero
12-22-2009, 05:31 AM
Sunn haven't built an amp in years and GK aren't that pricey. You can get a 400 odd watt GK for about $1500.

Deplorable
12-22-2009, 05:36 AM
yeah, but you can get 70's Sunn heads for about that, (like 1000AUD, plus 200 shipping) which have beastly tone, so long as they're solid state.

I like GK, I really do, I just feel there's better stuff out there for the same price, but i'm not one for a full "metal" tone anyway, I like it to be incredibley versatile.

Finally, we should provbably stop going so far off topic :p:

Magero
12-22-2009, 05:38 AM
No way. It's totally on topic. He uses a GK. As long as we say "gk" in our posts, we're set.

I used this GK head for the Aeternitas album launch and was the most diverse tone I've ever had so... Perfectly level. All highs at the same volume as the lows.

Deplorable
12-22-2009, 05:45 AM
Fair enough, but the GK i played wasn't as great as that, but obviously you played a better model :). It was good, but I preffered my Trace Elliot. I was bummed that I didn't grab a '72 Sunn head off ebay for darn cheap, the problem was it was American made, so it was for 120V (**** you America) rather than 240V, which means i'd need to always plug it into a transformer.

Magero
12-22-2009, 06:08 AM
I'd kill for a Sunn. I want to emulate Dan Brigg's bass rigg completely.
Spector bass - check.
Sunn head - Shut up.
Ampeg speakers - goddamnit...

MustangMan311
12-22-2009, 12:08 PM
I absolutely love my GK. I always feel like it's going to die on me, because it's used and I've had to take it to be repaired once before. I also don't treat as well as I should. But it's a 700RB, puts out 320w at 8 ohms, I believe, 450 at 4. Such a monster. I've played friends' Backline heads and the tone is so lifeless and compressed. Mine, however, has a growl. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I bought it for $250, too. Thank God for Franco at Guitar Center. Hahaha.

Thanks, man. Most of our deathcore bands are either on hiatus right now or just don't play enough to keep the scene growing, so we're looking to bring something to the table. Other than that, our scene is basically a gross amalgamation of post-hardcore bands and metalcore. And there's a group of tough guy bands made up of the same people that's about to get big. You might be in luck not having a scene. :p:

UntoExistence
12-31-2009, 12:24 AM

Yeah, sucks, but it will only usher in a new era of... something. Ironically, I was out to eat in Durham a few hours ago and the owner of the Brewery happened to be at the same restaurant I was at. They're putting in offices and a two-story Kerr Drug where it was. Lame, right?

We've got pre-sales to get rid of by the way, you live around Winston don't you? I think I'll be in Winston/Greensboro on Friday to sell a ticket already, let me know if we can get together.

Yeah man, we practice and a couple of us live in and around Durham, me and Will in Raleigh. The clean stuff is a fairly big part, the black metal sounding bit not so much. I'd really love to do it more if it comes up, however- I really like how BTBAM handles their couple of bm-sounding parts.

Thanks for the feedback dudes. Our EP will absolutely be out by the end of the year, we're really excited to be finishing that up.

I guess that'd be for the best since so many bands do those sort of generic BM sections and it only sounds good when a band uses it sparingly.

I'll get hate for this but I consider Trivium's usage of it well. :o They do it every say 3 songs per album and it always adds a lovely vibe to the music. Bands like BTBAM I notice use it decently sparingly as well, Becoming The Archetype is one of them and it tends to come out pretty well, but it does get generic after extended listening to it.

Definitely keep those clean sections though, ain't nobody who dislikes a good groovy clean section. :o

Estcher. @_@ In which after said split, groups of each band will turn against each other and cause chaos yelling at eachother trying to figure out which band is better.

Then the old folks come in and say THA and BTBAM are better and a purist mentality forms that divides new and old bands. :o

I tried practicing seven string sweeps once and since I don't have a metronome, I used the tuxguitar metronome. I realized it was going in and out of time a lot, so it screwed up my timing and I had been practicing for a week already. ._. Never trust a tux.

I use to have one but one day it just stopped working. :( I miss being able to copy parts into different measures. It's annoying to have to go back and forth on tabs with guitar 1 2 or 3 and not be able to copy the areas into the main guitar.

-shrugs- Don't ask me, man. I'm completely self-taught, so if I'm doing something right or wrong, it's by accident. :p: I've never really had any major problems with playing aside from my fingers seizing up after playing something that repeats a lot (The Mars Volta. But they're not even that. They're more like Asking Alexandria-shit-esque synth filled metalcore with more clean singing. And that was my whole point.

Magero
10-29-2011, 10:55 PM
Just stop, dude. They are genuinely closer to A Day To Remember styled pseudo-pop punk, then they are to anything like Asking Alexandria/Attack Attack. They have hardly any metalcore riffs, they use Green Day chord progressions for 80% of their music, the lyrics are all upbeat and positive, and their breakdowns aren't even breakdowns thanks to the way they write them. They aren't anywhere near as heavy, they don't use similar writing styles (aside from obvious verse/chorus/verse/breakdown/chorus/etc), they don't have any metal in them. Calling them metalcore is being way too generous. I also think it's funny that you're telling him off for calling them pop-punk "because they sound NOTHING like it", and yet I knew exactly what he was trying to say without having to have a go at him for something so petty.

That other band was alright, but I still dig With Hell... way more.

Eh, I think I prefer the other band if I'm honest. Doesn't sound bad certainly, just not something I care for as much.

I played a BOTB to open for this show. We lost to this band. (http://www.facebook.com/SirensFallSilent)
I actually really like that, save for the singing being overdone. Sucks that you guys aren't playing though, how easy it for you score shows like this over there?

Yeah, they're really good guys. My guitarist and I went to Waffle House with them afterwards. And it's kinda hard to get on big shows here. The biggest one we ever played was with Within the Ruins and Structures. The bands that always play big shows are The Human Condition (http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Human-Condition/221620221225243), With His Blood (http://www.facebook.com/WHBofficial), or Ancients (http://www.facebook.com/ANCIENTSmetal) . But the guy that booked that BOTB and that All Shall Perish show said we should've won. He said he's gonna put us on bigger shows soon once our new album is released. He also called us Straylene at that show. :p:

Hahaha, awesome name to be called. We've worked with this promoter a couple of times and done well so that's how we've done all of our bigger shows. Of course we have to sell tickets, but I'm not going to pass up a show like this just because I don't want to do that. Plus if we do perform well in that aspect, we get paid well, so it's a win-win.

That's pretty awesome. We're trying to get on bigger shows, but it's tough in Nashville. A lot of people in Nashville don't like us anyway. We try to play out of state as much as possible.

Yeah, we've still got opposite ends of the state we need to cover before we try and go to others. I just booked this show, so here's another we're doing soon:

No wonder bands like that are mostly underground, no one can read their name when they try to promote themselves.

I can read After The Spire's logo too.

Just a shame that's such an awful band name.
