On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being The Greatest and 1 being Worst), where would you rank the Guitar Rig 4 VST/VSTi plugin?

Dunno, haven't used it.

I do use Peavey Revalver's VST plugin, and it's awesome.

Exactly how I would rank it...maybe putting the TSE on par with the poulin stuff...but yeah...bang on.

I would have put TSE x30 as high as the poulin stuff, but the last 5 in your list are all pretty good! I just really like the Engl sound that I can get with TSE :D

I wouldn't have given Guitar Rig a 0. In reality, they all have strengths and weaknesses and some are better than others for different sounds. Revalver's Mesa XXX clone sounds awesome. I can get a great chug with it and pinches for days. Playing my bass, I think Guitar Rig wins it for me, much better bass model than say the Amplitude SVG which is supposedly based off the Ampeg amps, but maybe thats because it suits my bass playing style more. Some of the free ones are good, but they are usually only modelled after 1 amp, and you need a host program to play them. They are usually just an 'amp' sim, so you'll need a cabinet sim, impulses, etc and its a bit more cumbersome to setup and get a decent sound from. Guitar Rig, Revalver, Amplitude all can be run stand alone which is great just to fire one up quick and start jamming and they have cabinets, mics, everything you need to plugin and start playing. Guitar Rig has some neat effects too that the others don't have, like 3 or 4 kinds of Wah's, etc, so if you're into weird sonic scape sounds, then maybe Guitar Rig is for you. Revalver does the amps it models very well and can be tweaked to death. You can change the virtual tubes in the amp, set the bias and cathode plate voltages, etc, etc, etc which does allow some unique combo's.

But for a more Pro sound, Guitar Rig just can't provide the goods, its muffled distortion is one of the main things I ****ing hate about it. I used to love it but have now changed my mind!

Poulin LE-465 is keeping me busy at the moment.
