Ok, so I get a lot of this in the forum. I'm making a thread for it. There are so rules I would like everyone to go by.. First, no spamming at all or you will be warned..Second, when you give the suggestion, please post a link to the tab. That'd make it easier to look up :) Try and make sure it's a ug tab ;) and if someone already said the song, I don't think there is a need to repeat it. I don't want a billion people saying stairway.. This should be a good way to help people who just started learn some easy somes.

If you don't know how to read tabs go here:

Most green day is easy for guitar. I suggest learning songs from the "dookie" album that's the one everyone loves the most..

A cool tab for beginners (like me) is Shinedown's version of Simple Man. (Link below) This tab sounds correct except at the end of the verse I think it should be an A min chord but they have the fingering messed up here. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Manic Street Preachers - If you tolerate this your children will be next (http://ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/m/manic_street_preachers/if_you_tolerate_this_your_children_will_be_next_crd.htm)

EDIT: Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers is easy as well, but I don't honestly like any of the tabs that I saw on UG

Razorlight - Golden Touch (http://ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/r/razorlight/golden_touch_tab.htm)

Well, they are quite simple songs, and I couldn't think of many others at the time, so I looked through some of the tabs I'd done that I know are good and quite simple, so put them up. No harm done.

Electric Six (http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/electric_6_tabs.htm) have very little talent. Harsh, I know, but makes for easy tabs.

 Try my version, the bridge sounds exactly like the album version.

Shinedown- 3rd (best) version (http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/s/shinedown/simple_man_ver3_tab.htm)

Yeah, I know I'm promoting my own tab. It won't help me anyway, 'cause I was having problems logging in when I submitted it. So now I don't get UG points when someone rates my tab. It really ticks me off:rant: :mad1:  :livid: :grrr:

If a mod can fix it somehow, I would really appreciate it:down: .

Thanks for these guys. I doubt there are any easey Muse or Strokes tabs. All I've learnt so far is Smoke on the Water!

Skeeve

^Smoke on the Water is easy, sounds good, but it's not all that impressive. Try Californication by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It's an instant classic, fairly simple, and it's more impressive.

Californication (best tab) (http://www.e-tabs.org/tab/red_hot_chili_peppers/californication)

^This tab is almost perfect. It's what I used to learn the song. The solo is messed up, though, so if you can't find someone else's version of the solo that sounds good enough, PM me, and I'll tab it out for you.

It is right, in the intro, the bass plays the twiddly bits, not the guitar, which most tabs have put.

No, I disagree with you there. If you listen really close, you can tell that the guitarist plays the 'twiddly bits', but the bassist DOES back him up. You're version is okay, but it's not exactly right: the intro (as I was saying) is messed up; the chords are wrong (the lead guitarist's style is based around the 4 middle strings: B, G, D, and A; at least when he plays chords); and the solo is screwed up.

You know what, when I get some extra time, I'll tab out the song myself and submit it to this site. Until then, stick with with my link HERE (http://www.e-tabs.org/tab/red_hot_chili_peppers/californication) .When I submit it, I'll post here and let you guys know:cheers: .

I haven't listened to the song in a damn long time now, but the Californication solo on most tabs seems to be wrong. Personally I'd play it this way

E|------9-----------------9----------------------------------
B|-10----------------10--------------------------------------
G|----------11^----------------11^-------11-11-11-11p9-------
D|-----------------------------------------------------11-11-
A|-----------------------------------------------------------
E|-----------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------9---12---14----------9---12---14/16-14-
-------------------------10-------------------10---------------------
-------9---11^---9---------------------------------------------------
--9-11-------------11------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------

-17-16-14----14-------------------------------------14b16r14-12----12----------12----------|
----------17----17-14-17-14---14---14---14---17-14--------------14----14-12-10----15-14-10-|
------------------------------16^--16^--16^------------------------------------------------|
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Every tab has either written it in an awkward way to play, or has just got one or two notes wrong, but from memory I'm pretty sure this way is 99.999% right.

Andrewbiles

thanx for all the ideas guys, i've tried oasis wonderwall and it's really helping me with my chords.

If your lookin for tab rather than chords (which is what i found easier to begin with) i suggest some mcfly songs, especially 5 colours, not alone and unsaid things.
I know a lot of u guys dont like *pop rock* but it really did help me get used to tab and Mcfly solo's are pretty simple to play but sound great. :)

I think that the Behind Blue Eyes (ver 6) is a very easy song on tabs. Although it is the first song i have ever played.. on tabs that is, and the first whole song ive ever played *yes im new to guitar* it seemed very easy to learn. Here is a link to the site with the tab, I love playing it and it is so easy to do if you are a beginner.

I think that enter sandman on bass is really easy. Here is a link to the fairly easy version of it.

I agree... I tried to play stairway to heaven... but i was utterly disapointed when i found that i couldn't do it. Maybe its because i just started playing guitar but i think that maybe it shouldn't be a beginers piece.
Just a thought.

i learnt intro to stairway to heaven about 3 months from picking up a guitar....took me a night to get the intro and im half way through the solo....i dunno maybe i was thrown in at the deep end with pulls and hammers ,slides and taps etc cause i dont have a teacher so i work at my own pace so i found it pretty easy. Just stick to it dont be put off and its pretty easy..dont expect yourslef to just play it if ur a beginner ^^

Ya, I've only just started playing guitar. So when i went and looked at the tabs... i was like wtf. I haven't had any type of lessons yet, and I tought myself to read tabs. Wasn't to hard but I did have some difficulty trying to figure out Stairway To Heaven. other than that I have been having a blast, and after i get better at tabs (or guitar for that matter) i will be trying newer and harder songs than Blue Eyes ver 6 lol.

u guys r retarted. theres no "right" or ?wrong? way 2 play a song. just as long as its the right notes. im tired of seeing all u tab readers thinking that u know how 2 play guitar. if u really knew how a guitar works, u'd know that u can make a song appear on any part of the neck; it will just be on a different string. a note is 5 frets higher on the neck from the string above it, and 5 strings lower from the string below it. 4 example, G is on the 10th fret of the A string. the same G is also on the low E string on the 15th fret, and on the G string open. So now that u know, figure out ur own way of playing a song. just as long as it?s the right notes.

I recommend Nirvana songs, so easy!!! Then when you've done that try Metallica, quite alot of their songs are pretty easy (ignoring ALL solos) and make you feel like a genious. Then get better and better. =D

^^^^ no if the x is in the tab it means you have to mute that string

EG:

5 X
5 X
3 X

you have to mute those strings (its best to mute at the last chord you played) just put your fingers slightly over the strings :)

An easy metallica solo would be ermmmmmmmmmm I think it's the First Solo in Sanitarium? It's slow and sounds good. :-) Slayer, don't both trying until you're fast enough and they sound random most of the time so it's not that cool. :-D

Yeah, I just posted the right version of "No Pride" by Green Day, from their Insomniac album. I learned that by myself, without any sites, so one day I came on here and though to myelf "I'll go see who got it right". And whadda you know everyone else was playing it really strangely. So I submitted mine and it rests at a 5 star rating :)

That's a really unapprecaited song by Green Day. I cover it all the time and the crowds love it.

also, if you have an accoustic, a lot of ben harpers songs sound really good on there and are easy to play. the first song i learned after 'smoke on the water' was 'alone' by ben harper, and it was EXTREMELY easy. heres the site for it:

Andrewbiles
01-06-2005, 06:27 PM
^ How to work them out or how to actually tab them?

To work them out, first search for the bass note of the chord (on the E & A strings), then see if it's a power chord, major or minor, if it's none, then you've just got to listen out for the tones within the chord.
Tabbing them is simple, it's just the chord upside down.

oasis have plenty, stone temple pilots have some easy stuff that is interesting to play too like interstate love song, sour girl, creep, big empty, kitchenware and candybars. they use more complex chords than your standard Am C G etc etc, but are fun to play.

pearl jam have a mountain of good stuff to play on acoustic, some of the better known ones being black, better man, jeremy, alive etc etc.

alice in chains as well, check out their unplugged cd.

Bombtrack by RATM is one of the first songs I learnt, and it's pretty easy. I think it sounds pretty impressive for how difficult it is. You can find the tab here (http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/r/rage_against_the_machine/bombtrack_ver2_tab.htm)

Another easy song would be Roulette by System of a Down. Some of the tabs are really awkward to play but I think this (http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/s/system_of_a_down/roulette_ver14_tab.htm) is a good one.

Alright i'll help out the bassists, i'm not a bass player but i can tell a easy song. Though people are sick of it and people say it is a rip-off from the pixies i would say Smells Like Teen Spirit is pretty good and also Lithium. Would?- Alice In Chains (AIC), My Generation- The Who, Break On Through (To The Other Side)- The Doors. Those are a few good ones i could think of.

For guitar almost anything from Nirvana is a good starter song:Teen Spirit, Come As You Are, Polly, In Bloom and Breed. Green Day is good with "Time Of Your Life" and "American Idiot". Jeremy- pearl Jam and also Black by PJ.

Hope i could help a bit.

What's up? Anyway, I'm only about a week into learning to play so I'm here looking for some easy songs(you can only keep going over chord changes for so long!) I heard a song the other day by The Perishers called What We Once Had. It's super slow, and sounds relatively simple. So I've been trying to track down the tab for it, but no luck. Any ideas or any help would be appreciated.

Thanks :bonk:

I don't know if anyone posted this since theres tons o pages, but

Dashboard Confessional - Remember To Breathe
^its the easiest song ever

Green Day - Jesus of Seburbia (it sounds impressive, but consists of all the same chords!)

Kelly Clarkson - Since You've Been Gone
^theres a Ted Leo version to download out there, and a version by H's between vowel's thats pretty lounge if u hate kelly's.

if u want to spice up Since U've Been Gone, during the bridge, transition on over to Yeah Yeah Yeah's - Maps. Yep, its almost the SAME thing and it sounds impressive :)

For a palm mute, you would lay the side of your picking hand on the strings in front of the bridge. If you need to mute notes quickly, I suggest using the side of your pinky so you can alternate pick the palm muted notes, hope this helps, enjoy

I guess that depends on your definition of a love song.

Walk Away by Ben Harper seems really easy.. I'm just starting out though.. I don't think there is a tab copy of it on here, but some other sites have it.

Here is the intro / verse:
