So my band consists of me, a bassist, a drummer and a guitarist.
There is possible gig in the not to distant future that would require us to play jazz.

What are some good basic (maybe standard?) songs that a trio could play that would be appropriate for a jazz club setting?

And don't get me wrong, we aren't doing this for the money. I don't even kn ow how much the gig is worth... but we really want to do this, and we need some ideas.

Also, we aren't losers that wanted to be in a band so we bought some instruments. We know how to play, and quite well I'll brag.

Any direct song or artist suggestions would be great.

And by the way we are already planning on doing some improv.

if you are new to soloing over chord changes, you can do either some blues (straight no chaser), or something with some simple chord changes (red clay, blue bossa, autumn leaves). You could also check out All the things you are, but that one has a lot of changes. You could go buy a Real Book from guitar center or something and those are full of hundreds of jazz tunes

most music stores have books of jazz standards and most include a CD so you can hear the songs if you arent too good at reading music. some have tabs too.
